Fantastically located hotel, right at the heart of Siena. The hotel is also beautiful and seems well-maintained. Few facilities: For a luxury hotel I would have expected to find at least some - like pool, gym, etc...? In light of that, found the room rate extraordinarily high - stupidly expensive breakfast not included, internet charged at an absurd rate, €45 per night for parking, no facilities and a relatively inexciting and small room definitely do not justify the rate.
staff location room air conditioning
Everything was perfect! From the way the old palazzo has been renovated to the non-vulgar luxury around you and from the location to the personnel. It is expensive - but it's worth it to the last cent. The reception / consierge services offered were really good. We think that could be excellent if the the people there knew a bit more about the probable city attractions.
Hotel is well situated in the town. The decor is very plush. Welcoming staff. Buffet breakfast is overpriced
Excellent location in the centre of the City. Very impressive building of great character. Well furnished room. Generally helpful and pleasant staff - but see below. Grubby carpet in room. Concierge gave innaccurate information about bus services and quoted eye watering price of 376 euros for 24hr car hire.
Wonderful hotel with great location in the city center of beautiful Siena small room
The Hotel Staff were exceptional. They made special arrangements to get us to our next destination. We enjoyed our stay at the Hotel and appreciate all they did for us.
All the staff were efficient, helpful and friendly; not just the reception staff but everyone with whom we came into contact (including those who did not have good English). The room was comfortable; the decor very impressive. The hotel made guests feel special. Only one thing. Our room was just above the main street and the noise from the street continued loudly until the early hours of the morning. On two nights it continued until after 3am and prevented us from sleeping. Perhaps double glazing on the windows would help.
The location was perfect. Even had near-by parking that was inexpensive. Breakfast was amazing and the view at breakfast - incredible! Loved the story behind the hotel and our room was charming and very comfortable. The staff was excellent and very helpful. No lift, just stairs.
The historical aspect of the origins of Il Chiostro Del Carmine are wonderful and very much in keeping with being in Siena which is a town steeped in history and beautiful buildings. The staff were all very charming and helpful making our stay very special and our visit to Siena a very positive one.
It is in an ideal location and is full of character nothing
The size of room, historic nature of the hotel, and staff. Breakfast is weak.
The location-centrally located. The facility was immaculate and the staff was very helpful.
Very pleasant experience to stay in an ex-monastery; has kept a lot of its authenticity. Impressive view from the superior rooms over the surroundings south of the city. Although at the edge of the old city, still very close to city centre. WIFI did not reach to the last room (with the great view) so had to sit in the hall for a connection. Room was on 2nd floor at the end of the hall and there is no elevator. Older people should take this in consideration when they book.
Interesting building with real history. Breakfast served in spectacular cloistered courtyard. Good location for access to major sights in old city.
Excellent view from room window Rather noisy from next room probably due to a connecting door
We had a bueatiful view, the staff was great. It was a little warm. We stayed there on the 10th of May, and they don't turn on the AC until the 15th.
An enormous old cloister located right at the edge of the area pedonale. Room overlooking the local countryside. Nice staff, good rate. Bathroom door opened out -- a small point until you try to live with it -- what you get when you convert a cloister into a hotel.
very nice hotel something diferent than normal hotels excellent hospitality ,location .
Excellent location for central Siena - close to bus station and centre of city. Lovely breakfast room and nice to have in house dining. Staff very helpful and willingly stored luggage until we were leaving later in day. Rooms near lobby were noisy from loud conversations at reception - mainly in morning.
Excellent location, helpful staff, very good food, a hotel with the old world charm yet very modern too
Very friendly staff. Good location. Free public parking 10 min. walk from the hotel. Nice building. Breakfast could be better. No shower curtains, so the whole bathroom was wet after taking a shower. No parking at the hotel as informed.
the location excellent, two steps from the main piazza where the bus from the railway station stops, very clean, spacious room, excellent heating, they let us in before the check-in time and kept our luggage after the check-out, very good price. the breakfast big, everything a little over-sugared,but it's ok
Good location and not too expensive for pricey Siena
was a good hotel for our one nite stay in siena. comfortable, helpful people and the location although not in the enclosure of siena it was very close to the centre, perhaps around a 20 mins walk to the wonderful piazza el campo.
Very convenient location to all sites, museums, restaurants in Siena. Nice breakfast buffet in pleasant dining room. Room was very drab, furnished with old bed, desk and nightstand, no pictures on the wall, poor lighting. Desk staff unfriendly. No elevator.
Location and convenient access to bus/train transportation. The hotel is comfortable and the staff were friendly and welcoming. We will recommend the Chiusarelli to friends and family. Lack of complementary wifi access. Considering the price of the room wifi should be included. Also, recommend shower curtains.
Large clean room, great breakfasts and so handy to everything Staff could have been more friendly and helpful - like give you a map of the town, some information about the hotel, what services and facilities they provide
Traveling as a single woman I felt very safe there. The room was very clean, in good condition, and comfortable. The location was easy to get to by the city bus... or a taxi and you can easily walk anywhere. Breakfast was good. There was only one hotel staff member that was actually friendly but all of them were helpful. The bathroom was over-all clean but, I don't think they have washed the metal fixtures for a while. Plus, were are dirty hand marks on the ceiling from someone opening the access space.
Hacing a room on the 5th floor made access very easy No tea or coffee making facilities in the romm and the bar snaks were limited.
Although the hotel did not have the charm that a smaller or older hotel might have, the facilities were very clean and modern...and met my expectations of a 4 star hotel. The breakfast was extensive. We were traveling with a car and chose the hotel because it had free parking and was within the town walls. Overall we were happy with the choice. The hotel is a bit of a walk to the Duomo...we were traveling with my father who is handicapped (walks) but we were using a wheelchair. It was definitely possible to get to the main sites from the hotel but it was a bit of a chore...additionally, the south side of the city, where the hotel is located, is quite a bit quieter than the part north of the main piazza...I suppose this could be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective.
The room was great and the view was fabulous.
Hotel was shopping, restaurants and historic sites. Room was clean and quiet. View from room was excellent. Hotel was relatively easy to find - good thing for GPS and parking was free. Staff where friendly and helpful. Internet worked pretty well. Paying extra for internet.
The bed was comfortable, but the shower was rather small. We did enjoy having windows in both the bedroom and bathroom. The location was perfect - walking distance to all the sights, but far enough away to be quiet. Parking was a huge plus!!!
The location and convenient use of the car park The small room
one of the receptionists, solely on her own initiative and efforts, managed to serve a glass of warm milk at night for our two year old. rooms had no sound proof, basically had to sit up all night to listen to a man next door snooring. the receptionist was rude.
The stuff is very polite and helpfull, Breakfeast is very good, and the location is excellent..
Free parking and easy walking distance to town centre sites
Wifi very poor
The housekeeping staff was outstanding,we felt safe in the hotel The receptionist lady linda was extremely blunt with us,and with other guests at several times....working in the same industry we found it shocking.... the noise also was disturbing on the corridor fairly early ...also we didnt like that we got billed for Bed & Breakfast, and we've been told that the breakfast wasn't included in the price.....so we never had it....
Breakfast was great. The host was kind and business like and they were good about letting us leave our bags for a bit. Also I left something behind and they were good about sending it to me. I don't have anything
Loved the size and character - it was huge! We only stayed for one night, but we could have stayed for a week. Great location close to Il Campo and lots of good restaurants and shops nearby. Breakfast was great - fresh cappuccinos and all! There was not a thing I did not like :)
The rooms are nice, large and very comfortable. The staff was great, and very accommodating and our room came with Breakfast. In the old city center, which can be a bit tricky to find. The room did come with free parking. The room was pretty hot, and had to leave the window open with the temperatures in the mid 50's. There are new parking restriction in the city, and the hotel asks that you call ahead if you are driving. We never got that message. The parking is near.
Simple furnished room with marvellous view. Helpful staff. No wireless connection in room. Had to use the hotel connection which wasn't always convenient.
Views from our room were amazing We thought this would be our splurge hotel on our European vacation, but this was one of the more run down places we visited. The decor is dated (unpainted wood furniture and trim) and the shower was just a shower head on the bathroom wall with a shower curtain wrapped around it. The water from the shower got all over the bathroom floor making using the sink or toilet a messy adventure. We were quite disappointed with the overall value of this hotel.. although the location makes up for some of it.
Pleasant and chatty staff who helped me retrieve lost property from local taxi company. Also, their restaurant recommendations were reliable (not always the case in Italian hotels).Clean and comfortable rooms. My room and some others had wonderful views of the Cathedral and surrounding countryside. Cheap use of use of internet. Excellent location near the Campo, the Duomo and the Pinacoteca. Free (Italian) newspapers. Nothing really, except lift only takes you up one floor, you then have to carry your luggage up to the next floor. And the breakfast, as in many three star hotels, is pretty uninteresting: industrial cakes and biscuits, processed cheese! But the coffee was acceptable.
Spacious rooms - wonderful views of cathedral and countryside
very good location, good service,
Staff Weird hallways
Great location Finding the hotel by car at night. If we had known to go to the Porto Marco it would have really helped
Very good location. Very nice hotel with friendly staff I enjoyed nice view of Cathedral and Palazzo Publico. Very happy with breakfast. The only problem was noise from the room next door late into the morning. I had quiet a loud woman next door, unfortunately I was in the hotel for 3 nights and so was she and her partner. This sort of thing you just have to live with, it is part of routine hotel experience.
Very close to city center & Duomo but very hard to get your car to the hotel to drop of luggage. Very hard to get to if not familiar with location.
Great location, beautiful period building with grand stone staircase (as well as lift), modern facilities and helpful staff. Free parking 10 mins away. 24 hr reception. Mattresses are 'firm'
very kind and helpful staff and close to the city center
Friendly and helpful attitude of all the staff. Our room was quiet and located off the Via Stalloreggi which is what we had asked for.
Very Courteous staff Very hot in our room in the summer. No air conditioning.
It's location can't be beat. Right in the heart of Siena. A very good value, just don't expect a 4 star hotel. Room was cold during the day. Hotel would not turn on heat until 6 pm. Shower makes a mess, not matter how you try to contain the spray. Somewhat noisy when people tromp down the hallways to their rooms (tile floors everywhere).
its position in the centre of siena front desk open 24 hours a) the directions we were given were impossible to follow. first night in italy and driving ,so i was not au fait ,but i could not follow the directions given. we had to park and then walk into siena to find hotel and even then we had difficulty finding the hotel carpark a downloaded map would have been helpful as directions are never as good as "seeing it" b) had to queue for breakfast
Our room at the Cannon d'Oro was charming and very spacious. Our room at the next hotel we stayed in (in Milan) was the size of a cracker jack box! It was extremely convenient to the old part of Siena and to buses. We didn't like the coffee at breakfast, which came from a machine. We just went out for coffee after breakfast. No big deal.
It is situated just 5 minutes both from bus station and centre. It is a bit noisy due to its location.
convenient location stone staircase next to my room very noisy late at night and early morning. If you get a lower level room this is bad drawback to this hotel
We really liked the location. It was 2 blocks from the Piazza Gramsci....where the bus drops you off coming from Florence. It was 4 blocks from the bus stop that takes you to the Siena train station. It was also within close walking distance of all of the wonderful sights in Siena. The front desk staff was extremely pleasant and helpful...that is worth a lot to us. You could feel the spring supports in the bed mattress while lying on the bed....perhaps a mattress update is due.
Very comfortable room, beds, staff was helpful and friendly. Great location.
simplicity of room and central location breakfast!, ..plastic cartons and spoons for cereal, cellophane wrapped breads
The location is fantastic--right in the middle of the tourism zone. Get better coffee guys. Machine coffee doesn't have to be this atrocious.
Staff was nice close to compo For the price better room . BreAkfast would be nice.
The staff was very helpful and the room was clean. Inconvenient charging options for phone, no electrical outlets near the bed, only one in the room by the door and one in the bathroom. Window overlooking the main street outside the Campo seemed like it would be a great location, but was noisy all night.
Run by a very friendly, helpful family The facilities are split over 2 sites, reception is at number 18 (not 19 as advertised on the website). Hard to find without a good map. But worth it
interior is perfect, the stuff is very friendly- a girl came at 6.30 specially for us to make breakfast. The bathroom is wonderful- big, modern and clean. The floor is made from stone and in October it was extremely cold! The location of the room was not very good- the B&B Siena In Centro is not a hotel, you just register there and after it the stuff sees you to the place you will live, but they can do it only between 3 and 7 pm, the check-in is not convenient
It is a very convenient place to stay due to its prossimity to the Il Campo and the Duomo. The staff is very polite. Price is OK and confortable clean bed. We stayed in a room with a very small bathroom, like one square meter, but for one night it was OK. There was some noise in the morning while breakfast was being prepared.
Our accommodation was upgraded for us, and we were very pleased to have extra room and facilities, as our daughter had travelled from London to spend some time with us in Siena. We appreciated the personal service given to us, and enjoyed our stay very much.
The hospitality of the owners and the suggestions for restaurant-highlights
1) location: very close and convenient to all major sights. 2) character/history of hotel residence, the fact that it was supposed to have a more intimate feel about it, being owned and run by a family. 3) you could self - cater to some extent, as there were kitchen facilities. 1) my room - it was supposed to be a double room for single use, but the single bed was a converted sofa, with no room for a double bed (indicates the smallness of the room) and the bathroom was very cramped. 2) My friend was accused of soiling the mattress of the bed in his room; he was even asked to pay for a new mattress. However, the accusation was entirely untrue. 3) Poor breakfast
Very nice people, very friendly, and very polite. The room is very nice, clean and quiet, the price is also good. Maybe the bathroom can be better, bigger and with more light, but it was more than okay for us.
Location. Confusion over booking, breakfast limited in space and range.
its location poor breakfast
For a medieval building in an ancient city with all the steps, limits on space, expense etc of siena, it was fine and good value -enjoyed the stay Lots of steps up to the hotel area -but then again dont bother with siena if this is a problem for you
The staff was incredibly helpful when we arrived late and needed and extra bed at 2 AM. The website said it was a part of a castle but it seemed like a regular hotel building to me.
The staffs of hotel are very nice and helpful . And they clean the room everyday in good condition . The location of hotel is very very good in Siena as she is just near to the main plaza, it is great. Everything is fine except the bathroom is a bit small .
it was in a great location.... 2 mins walk to the centre of siena (the piazza)
everything was perfect
The location was fantastic--only a block or two away from the Piazza del Campo. Also, we had a terrific view of a small piazza from our window. It was a simple, budget-friendly hotel so I didn't have any negative impressions.
It's nearness to Il Campo in Siena was excellent. A plus was that they offered wi-fi connection for a small fee. The level of their check-in desk was up a couple of flight of stairs.
I liked that the hotel was sited very near the city/the Piazza del Campo, and that the staff was very welcoming and helpful.
The view from the terrace window in the attic room. The bathroom was quite smelly.
The location was comfortably close to the Campo and the Duomo. We also thought the bed was exceptionally comfortable. The hotel was on the third floor, with no elevator. Also, the room was quite small by American standards.
