The staff were friendly and attentive. The hotel was in an excellent location for seeing Arles. It was very clean and well maintained. Despite being in the centre it was quiet and the gardens and pool were very pleasant places to sit. Not applicable
The location was excellent, right in the center of things. Staff was quite helpful, accomodating and generous. For the price, recognizing the location, we were disappointed with the overall condition of the hotel. It is rather tired and looks it. The building is a charming old one, but could use some upgrades. These comments only reflect our views on the common areas and our room. Perhaps there are other, nicer rooms available.
excellent staff,. excellent restaurant, Meals were very well prepared and highest quality. Staff were very helpful. Wonderful location. Very pleasant atmosphere. Very pleasant common areas. Quiet, clean. everything was very good
staff is polite and freindly, especially at front.room is pretty.and easy to access by car. nothing special.
The breakfast at 20 Euros was a great disappointment. At that price there should be a good selection of breakfast dishes. By comparison to other hotels charging similar prices it was not satisfactory.Whilst our beds were turned down on the first evening, they were not on the second. We arrived on market day and were unable to access the hotel by car until mid afternoon.
The staff was extremely helpful, courteous, and pleasant. We had a problem with a rental car agency and the staff was able to help us contact them and interpret.
Helpful and friendly staff.Good atmosphere. Bed too small and uncomfortable.
Interesting historic building with poor quality rooms and facilities. This hotel is over rated and is not a four star hotel. In need of refurbishment.
There were a couple staff members at the front desk that spoke very good English and were of great help with local information. The rooms are adequate but need updating. The restaurant is amazing but come prepared with mosquito spray! All the staff is very polite and professional. The walls are very thin and you are able to hear conversations from people in neighboring rooms.
The problem was that we spent the previous night in small b&b near Beziers. Quality and cservise was uncomparably better for exactly half the price. So if you need clean, comfortable bed to lean your head for the night very near the old town and you are not bothered by the money that much it's a reasonable choice. Remember it's just a place for sleeping nothig more As other guest previously mentioned WiFi not working (it was suprise for the staff when mentioned)- not a problem for us anyway
Big room with balcony overlooking square, excellent breakfast, happy and informative staff Aware no lift but there were a lot of stairs to the 3rd floor!
Location, cleanliness, airconditioing in very hot weather!!!
Staff were friendly and helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Good location. Stairs only. Bit noisy but didn't keep us awake.
The hotel is in a very nice square, which is also very close to the city monuments, shops and the restaurants. Our room was a little small; the double bed covered almost the whole room, maybe comfort room might have been more spacious. Ont the whole it is a cute, clean hotel with friendly and very helpful staff.
Room was tastefully decorated and the bed was comfortable. The location was good, close to the sights and restaurants, as well as being easily accessible by car - always got a parking space in the square directly outside. Carrying luggage up to the third floor.
Very clean and very comfortable. Friendly staff. We paid for breakfast and felt it was good value for money. We would stay here again. Lack of drawers and hanging space for clothes.
Great location. Good layout and design, nice art work. Will be back
very good location near the city center with perfect room with balcony.
Proximity to attractions and balcony with view of Place Voltaire, plus a great bed with plenty of room. No lift meant getting baggage up two flights difficult but staff helpful in assisting.
Beautifull room, an oasis in the middle of Arles. Breakfast out in the garden. Staff wasn't that fast, we had to wait a long time for our luggage and car (after checking out).
food is outstanding, a very special hotel toilets too high, would be nice to have had the pool heated
A free upgrade to a suite was nicely provided by the hotel. Very charming hotel.
The character of the hotel was fabulous and we liked it's central location although we did have difficulty finding it. The service at breakfast was very slow and many tables were left uncleared.
Everything was beautiful and interesting. Location was also good for access to the train. The negative was that we could not connect to the internet. No one could help us get connected and my husband was quite frustrated about this. We did not have this problem at any other hotel on our two week trip. I also had some trouble booking on line until your web site showed up. Also, the online reply returned to me from the hotel was in French which delayed the booking process until your site appeared.
Convenience to downtown Arles. The location if driving is impossible. We literally wasted hours trying to get to their garage. We left early and rebooked a place outside of town as we used our car everyday for day trips.
The location of the hotel was perfect for accessing all parts of Arles on foot which was good since once you manage to find a car park space in Arles you don't want to loose it! (car parking is a nightmare in Arles....) On one day we did not get our room made up and queried this with the Front Desk who apologised profusely (advising the cleaning staff were new) sorted it immediately and offered us free drinks at the bar.
Good location but a bit difficult to find. Great pool facility for the kids. Weak air conditioner.
the location and the town and thecharm of the hotel breakfast was eh
The history of the Hotel and its proximity to the roman buildings. The entire town of Arles is an excellent d example of the layout and workingsan old roman city The Van Gogh references were a dissapointnent, This didnt bother me much as I think any artist who can only sell two paintings while he is alive says it all for me, childish, and off scale . The Arlesians didnt want hin there at all it seems and insisted was moved to an asylum. The lady in charge of the hotel could not convince ne about the Joan Baezs visit and concert or the whereaabouts of the Charlotte Rampling famous nude photo
The staff was especially friendly and helpful. They also spent a good deal of time helping to improve our French. It was fun and a very pleasant stay.
Very nice, and quite quirky but also elegant. A really good mixture of old and new. The staff were all great, and fell mover backwards to help us in any way they could. Nice big rooms too. no nothing
Garage parking - really didn't fancy trying to find somewhere close in the centre of Arles. Really pleasant and helpful staff - map of city centre handed to us immediately, really prompt booking in procedure. Charming front terrace in bustly square for digestif and coffee after dinner. Intend to go back some time as this was too brief a stay.
Tasteful period style furnishing with fine old furniture in bedrooms and public areas. The bathroom door handle fell off several times.
Central and good rooms No ambiance
I stayed in the Grand Hotel Nord-Pinus with my son. It was a real gem, the interior decor was fascinating combination of the past and yet a stylish boutique hotel. The hotel created a feeling of a small, friendly, helpful hotel in the middle of the old city of Arles. The hotel is situated on a charming square full of cafes and restaurants. Although the breakfast was good however simple, we thought that it was a little expensive.
Nothing If this hotel is booked, it is critical that detailed direction on how to find it are included. the hotel is located on a street that does not allow cars, and is almost impossible to find. I drove for > 1 hour and could not find it, and went to another hotel to have them call the Nord Pinus, to try and give me soe directions on how to get there. Very disappointing hotel.
The receptionist, Barbara, went out of her way to accommodate and please us. We liked the proximity of the hotel to all the sites.
The staff was helpful and the location was great.
The room was charming and very clean. The hotel has an excellent location. The staff was so helpful and smiling. It's a great price for a great hotel.
Flexible front desk; lovely garden for breakfast Only that they were booked and we couldn't stay an extra night like we wanted.
The location is terrific. Across the street from the Amphitheater and steps away from wonderful Provencal shopping. The hotel is charming. Very clean, air conditioned. Staff is very helpful with ideas for tours, restaurants etc. Stayed here ten years ago and loved it. Was not disappointed upon my return. No
Friendly and helpfull stuff. Room we stayed was big, comfortable and very nice. Breakfast was good, satisfactory food. Nothing disliked.
It was comfortable, clean, affordable, spacious, and a very, very friendly staff. It will be my first choice when I return to Arles. I liked everything...
This is a lovely hotel with a superb garden and delicious breakfasts. The rooms are comfortable and the bathrooms luxurious. One member of the office staff was less than helpful, but this was more than made up for by another very helpful person.
great location, easy walking distance to some very good restaurants, helpful staff not enough pillows!
Excellent location in Arles. We were lucky to have a room with terrace where you can enjoy a splendid view over the old town roofs. The hotel could be top rated and very highly recommended unless the following would not had occured. In our travel guide the hotel was recommended and they especially highlighted the cool garden with palm trees. When we arrived in the afternoon other guests were enjoying drinks and snacks in the garden. After buying some food from the counter we were refused to sit in the garden without any practical reason and we were forced to sit in the street with direct sunlight and 35 C while there were enough free tables in the garden, there were no reservations and the garden is passable for hotel room access 24h.
Central location Building works on going near hotel so had to relocate from original room
The hotel is well placed to explore Arles and the surrounding district. It is an old, but well refurbished hotel with really friendly, helpful staff. The bar is large and has a pool table. There is a small pool that is open from morning to 9pm at night. The pool is in a walled garden that contains lovely plants, with plenty of tables, chairs and recliners. Our bedroom overlooked the Place du Forum, and was extremely spacious, furnished with antique chest of drawers, writing desks and the bathroom was breath taking. A huge antique porclein sink, good shower and a bidet. The decor throughout the hotel was excellent. All very spacious. We have stayed here before, and would do so again. Good value for money. Nothing at all.
The people working at the Hotel Du Forum were fabulous, they provided us with lots of local knowledge, they were friendly and very accommodating and helpful. The Hotel was as described, the comfort and friendliness of the bar was a nice suprise. None - our stay exceeded our expectations
hotel in great location, after negotiation narrow streets to hotel.limited car parking at hotel .adequet free parking 5 mins from hotel. basic old style hotel .
The staff was very friendly. They gave us recommendations on where to eat and what to eat. The owner told us about some great wines from her home town. The hotel was great, but as lots of people said, getting there was a real problem - we got lost a number of times. We had trouble finding the street signs.
Location was superb. Could have been more clean,
Warmest most helpful people at the desk. Helped with dinner reservations at nearby restaurant, which was also fantastic. Good breakfast. Clean, spacious room and bathroom.
The staff was very nice, the location was great (near the main square), the room was huge and the beds super confortable.
Great location, very helpful staff, comfortable hotel with everything you need. Would definitely stay there again.
The Hotel staff were very helpful and nice. The information of how to access the hotel by car (lacking). It is very difficult to find the hotel by car and a link to a map of how to get there would be very helpful.
Nice little hotel, conveniently situated, only a short walk from the port. Clean bedroom/nice staff -TV didn't work at first but after taking the batteries out of the remote and putting them back in again all was restored! The bedroom was on the front of the hotel, and as one who likes to sleep with it open found it slightly noisy on the road, first thing in the morning. With it shut though, there was no problem.Didn't have the breakfast so can't comment on that, but there was an old lady who ran a fresh fruit juice kiosk, just a block down the hill, facing the small park which supplied a nice peach juice!
The owners could bot do enough for us. On the last day, in the unseasonal snows of Arles, we were concerned about our air and road travel arrangements. The owner made a call to the loal Hertz agent on our behalf and clarified the position. We enjoyed our lunch at the relais on the day that we spent in town. There was sometimes a drainage odour form the pipes in the bathroom. This may be related to the unseasonal weather conditions.
The hotel was a pleasant surprise. The room was very nice and the lcoation was convienient. It was a very good value. Our whole stay was very pleasant.
This is a very nice family run hotel in the heart of Arles, very convenient for viewing the beautiful town on foot. It has superbly helpful staff/owners. No breakfast included but there are many cafes etc in the vacinity which are perfect for coffee and croissants. Location is safe and secure. we could not find the remote control for the tv in our room and the hotelier did not find it important to replace this. Showers are a bit on the small size also.
Room was nicely decorated, spacious and good beds. Reception friendly. Need to advise re parking before market days, rather than late the night before. Also, plumbing needs attention and water wasn't hot - did advise patronne. Luckily it was summer.
Pathetic hotel!!! Usurious price for a hotel of this type. It is a pity that it isn't lift there (especially for luggage), 4rd floor without lift!! 70 euro per night it is too expensive. + Bad quality of the bedclothes. Finally, breakfast was disgusting - the same from-a-box waffles, the and 1 croissant.
This hotel gives you the old fashioned French hotel experience. The breakfast / dinning room was quite charming. We enjoyed the traditional breakfast of bread, croissant, jam & coffee. If we had been about at lunchtime we would have liked to have lunch there, the menu looked interesting. It was quite noisy, we were woken by street cleaning & washing. The hotel is reasonably priced, so don't expect too much in the way of luxury. As other people have said there is a peculiar smell in the bathroom.
A fantastic situation for visiting Arles. Excellent facilities and friendly staff
The balcony overlooked one of the site streets. Conveniently located to walk to the tourists sites. Enjoyed the market on Saturday. The mattress was in poor shape.
The male owner did everything from booking, loaned me his TV, and cooked the restaurant's lunch. Location on a walking street was convenient to the tourist info office, post office, buses and high interest museums, etc. Would have been much easier if more staff spoke some English.
Lovely room. Swimming pool
Good location. Great staff. Clean room.Pool. Our 'king size' bed was a small double bed. Fortunately for us there was a little single bed in our room, so I slept on that and my tall husband slept on the other. There was no single bed in our friends' room. If you are tall, be prepared to accept small beds or go somewhere else.
Excellent restaurant Hardly up to 3 star standard. Very small room. No parking space available. No elevator. No help with luggage up the stairs. Reception workedin slow motion pace.
Pleasant bright hotel with helpful pleasant staff Rather over priced Swimming pool lurid green, in need of cleaning and preparation for guests. Was not pleasant to overlook!
Restaurant was excellent. Staff was extremely helpful. The only free parking we've had in France. Room/shower excellent.Great hotel None
Good location - only 10min walk to the city center. There was a public parking lot in front of the hotel. I wasn’t satisfied with the cost-performance ratio. The hotel wasn’t really cheap but the rooms were quit poor – they needed renovation and they weren’t really clean. The WiFi only worked in the reception area and only temporary.
Breackfast ok Room too small and with poor furnishing
Easy walking access to the old city. Quiet location.
There is a very nice pool at the hotel that we used every morning before we started the day. The staff was pleasant and helpful. The location of the hotel is a bit strange, but Arles itself is a bit strange. Advised to have a car to access hotel, although it was not really that far from the sights. (over a bridge) and parking difficult in center.
It's close to the centre but on the opposite side of the river: this means it's still quiet day and night. The pool was wonderful, towels provided, during the very hot afternoons. Breakfast rather pricey but pleasant out in the garden. The rooms were very small with no sound proofing.
dirty rooms and more or less unfriendly hotel staff. The breakfast was very small with one sort of jam and no plates, you have to eat from the table... furthermore it takes really long until you get your breakfast.Presentation of the hotel doesn't show the real things!
Best feature of this hotel is location, location, right in the center of town. The hotel design is darkish; it might give you a feeling of living a few centuries back in time. 7 of us stayed in 2 rooms which are very large.
Location is good. The lobby is very impressive. The room was very spartan. The elevator didn't work.
Clean room. Good location. The staffs didn't understand English...that was the only problem I had.
Its location close to the Arena in Arles is the strongest recommendation for this hotel. Other than that, I can't think of anything. The person managing the hotel was singularly unprepared for our arrival. He had difficulty locating our reservation and it took him considerable time to decide what rooms to put us in. (There were two couples of us.). He also had difficulty figuring out where to put our car but he did finally find a garage for this.
Hotel is beautifully decorated, central location, except for the arrival snafoo the staff was very helpful. The elavator didn´t work, the shower holder was broken, and upon arrival was left to wait for 20 minutes ....a bit much after a very long drive due to traffic.
The hotel was in a good spot and had a beautiful entrance hall . It was not expensive. It was very dark in the room areas and though there had been a good paint job on the hotel it felt grubby and gloomy. The room that we had breakfast in was also dark.At breakfast, the toast and croissants were burnt. The bath itself had been painted and the paint was flaking off . It all felt a bit spooky.
Good location, very central to sites and monuments. Impressive building and staircase! Decent, clean room with modern en-suite bathroom. Very echo-ey - the noise from the windows and shutters being opened/closed reverberated, especially late at night and early in the morning. There was a particularly loud and raucous group of young people (a school trip?) on our last night, which was a shame...
The web site did not make it easy to book a double room. We had to book a triple which we did not need. An electric socket in the bathroom blew out my iPod charger (the one in the bedroom worked fine). When we arrived the receptionist only had a record that we wanted one night when my confirmation and request said 3 nights.
Great location in the heart of Arles, beautiful rooms and building, friendly staff - all in all a very pleasant hotel that I'd go back to any time!
clean and interesting decor staff was rude
The owners were charming and extremely helpful. Parking is difficult.
Very charming hotel and room. Very central location in the wonderful town of Arles. Ability to control the temperature in the room.
Alain and Martine were lovely people, helpful and gracious. We will always remember our stay with great fondness.
Nothing special to remember other than eggs available for breakfast Very difficult to find; website very unclear on distance from train station; cracked cups and plates; breakfast area too cramped; no cereal spoons supplied; cereal choice too sweet
Very friendly and supportive staff. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The only problem we've faced with is the shortage in parking places. But it is typical for any old city in Europe.
A really nice, family-run hotel, in a great location in Arles. The room was spotless. The buffet breakfast was very good. Nothing.
What did we like? I think the location was ok, and it had some pay and display parking right outside, where you could pay in the evening for a view hours in the morning, in case you want a relaxed awaikening with out a ticket. But you do have to shift the car by half eleven latest. After having stayed at the "Citéa La Bastide Du Roy René" in Aix this hotel did bring us immediately back down to earth! The room was tiny and cramped, it had no coffee making facilities and the window was also tiny, It felt like a partitioned of part of the hallway. When we tried to go to sleep it felt like the other guests where walking through our room, the headend of our bed was against the corridor right next to the door. It definetly would pay off to be last, if you want a good night sleep. The breakfast was nothing like in the brochure (promoting local produce) There was some proceced cheese and some cheap salamy available, no choice of cereal, it was very basic and not ideal for kids.
The location was great, it was close to everything. The staff were very helpful and we were able to print our train tickets in the lobby. The room was large and the beds comfortable. I really liked the bathroom, very clean and the shower was big for France. There were only stairs up to our room, I'm glad we did not have heavy suitcases.
ground floor room poor mattress, no parking
I liked the the hotel's central location and accessibility to the sites, as well as the proximity to the train station. I had several conversations with the owner, Alain, about my late arrival. He was very upset with me for e-mailing him, as opposed to calling him, about my change in schedule. I apologized to him several times, but he kept at me, and frankly, I started avoiding him to prevent new conversations about this transgression - this persistent browbeating detracted from an otherwise good experience.
A building with a character and nice interior design Toilet was very small and it was not possible to close the door
