Bathroom look old!
Great location, good room comfort. When you book the price seems to be great, but then you find that the Internet is not included and also the bagage keeping has a cost.
Very clean, great location! I have stayed here a few times and always have a nice time there. The cleaning staff is so friendly. The food at the hotel is very expensive. I searched all over for an atm machine and couldn't find one. The lines for the elevator can be a bit long
Nice sized room for NY. Updated and modern. Heat was stuck on high and it was super hot. Luckily the windows work and we could get a cold breeze. Pillows were fluffy and flat at the same time.
Great location. Close to Times Square, Central Park, and Rockefeller Center. Large rooms for a New York hotel. Very professionally run and business like facility. High energy level with constant activity in the public areas. It isn't cheap but you can easily pay more for less value in NYC.
Location, Location For the money we aid, we should have a t lest a coffe maker in room/water
It was close to all the places we wanted to see. Walk to Times Square, subway nearby, etc.. Lots of restaurants all around. We had a corner room so view in 2 directions! Nothing
It was in walking distance to all we wanted and needed to see. (5th Ave, Times Square, Broadway, Rock Center....) Nice view from window. Exciting, interesting lobby, and the lounge was wonderful. Room was cozy and restful after busy day. The room decor was very soothing. Waterspots and wallpaper coming off walls on 12th floor. No floor mat in bathrooms. It was total sticker-shock when we got the bill for our breakfast buffet--they should post the price. Not everyone is used to Big City prices. Also, staff didn't smile.
clean and mid town so all the attraction you can cover by walk breakfast was not included while we expected bed and breakfast
Clean room with a comfortable bed. The hotel is very centrally located with many attractions close by. Staff was very efficient and friendly. The walls are paper thin and we had very loud neighbors. We could hear everything going on in the room next door. Unfortunately the neighbors were very inconsiderate and we had to call down to security to ask them to be quiet.
Location check in staff
The bed was comfortable. Staff was helpful. Lobby is a bit awkward, bathrooms say for employees only, the staff was really nice though. Restaurant wasn't open on a Friday night. I won't stay there again
The bed was comfortable and there certainly were enough pillows. Room temperature was comfortable which meant the thermostat actually worked Did not like the fact there was no refrigerator. If people were in the rooms on either side you could hear their conversations. People would come in after midnight and be talking in their room and that would wake me out of a deep sleep. The chest drawer would not stay closed. Certainly that was something that should have been taken care of. Housekeeping left much to be desired. Towels were a big problem, so I just took several at a time and didn't have housekeeping come into the room. Even if they came in, they didn't leave enough washcloths and hand towels.
Clean, nicely appointed, spacious rooms. Didn't notice street noise. Great value.
Good value for Manhattan. The shower door. Imagine a two piece glass door where one piece has been removed.
Rooms to small , service horrible . Not a place to stay for vacation or business .
The location was perfect for our needs. The shower and sink needed maintenance, they leaked and were hard to use. The room was very small. The hotel was more worried about the mini bar and trying to charge us for things we did not want or use than they were about anything else. Wifi in room is not free.
I like the fact the neighborhood had so many kids and a playground was a block up. The staff was nice and knowledgeable. The hotel is position by a bridge. The hotel does offer parking but in a crappy garage a block up from the hotel. The hotel could be nice if the owner would throw away old worn out furniture. The hotel is weird and please don't get a standard room
The staff were helpful and courteous, the room was comfortable and clean, the toiletries provided were excellent, the hotel decor is sort of Asian Noir that is both fun and tasteful, parking is very close and not expensive. Dearth of outlets in the room. No valet parking. Must check prices on provided extras since, though comprehensive, they are quite pricey.
Pretty decent hotel. The location is right next to the FDR freeway entrance so do expect a little noise, but that didn't bother me because, after all, you are in New York City. I was still able to sleep. I felt like we were in a pretty decent area of the city and for the most part, it was a clean neighborhood where we didn't run into tourists everywhere. Staffs are pretty friendly, knowledgable, and helpful. We got the 2 beds deluxe room and that's more than enough room for 2 people. Beds were comfortable. They have a nice restaurant on the top floor and a bar next to the lobby that open til 4 am so we def took advantage of that! You're several blocks from the nearest subway station but that's ok, I needed the walk. I'll def book this hotel again. No free wi-fi, unless you wanna hang out in the hotel lobby, and who wants to do that after a long day in the city. Most standard hotels, even the cheap motels, comes with free wi-fi. Shower door was a bit weird but I got it down after second day to prevent getting water everywhere on the bathroom floor.
Upon arrival I was informed that there was no room for me. They sent me down to the marcel hotel on 24th street. Was given the option to return to Bentley the next day or if I liked the marcel then I could stay there instead. Great room at the marcel ( first it was one bed which didn't work for me then they found me one with two beds). Next day I tell them I would stay there as the room was perfect they informed me that they had to move me to another room. They also informed me the rate was higher... MUCH HIGHER than the kayak rate. Obviously I vehemently disagreed and demanded I stay in the same room I spent the night before. To which I was told I "didn't understand the hospitality business" and needed to still move. I then questioned their hospitality. Long story short after much arguing the rate did not change but I reluctantly changed rooms (not as nice as the original room) and then went on to enjoy the rest of my time in nyc.
Black water coming out of the tub and sink, which completely disrupted and made us late for my hospital surgery
The staff was amazing! We had loud neighbors in the adjacent room, I went to the desk and the issue was immediately resolved by placing us in a different room. Our bartender recommend some incredible dining options. Overall our stay was wonderful!
Everything was clean and nicely decorated Parking $70/day
Loved the decor and the staff was super friendly. Great location, anything you could want right around the corner. Nothing, some people said it was small, but not if your used to New York spaces.
Location, decor, common areas Elevators are too small, most of rooms are good size but we booked on priceline and they dont guarantee your bed type (not disclosed) and we were put in the back small room with two double beds. Much smaller than majority of rooms as ai have stayed another time and it was much larger.
Clean, comfortable, great location. Still not sure how much I will be charged. I was invoiced a certain amount which does not reflect the amount charged to my card.
Room larger than typical for the area, staff were very helpful, walking distance to many restaurants and places we wanted to visit Though coffee places were nearby, it would be nice to get an early morning coffee without venturing outside the hotel. Perhaps marketplace kiosk could be open 24/7
The hotel was great..it was clean, spacious and comfortable. Central location for everything. But there's hidden fees when you get there. There's a $35 facility fee per day and since the stay wasn't booked directly through them you also have a $60 parking fee per day.. so overall it's better to book directly through them since you really don't save through any third party sites.. it comes out to about the same with all these hidden fees
It is near for everything, service is good, clean
The hotel is very well located and accessible. Only minor drawback were the elevators. Too few and one got stuck on Tuesday and I had to climb 11 floors to my room. Excellent cardio though.
they were very accommodating and friendly. the rooms were perfect sizes and beds were very comfortable. the facility charge. we only stayed from 7pm at night until 12pm the next day so we didn't even use any of the facilities that were included in the charging so we thought it was a bit unfair to be charged that amount if we weren't even there long enough to use it.
I love the Park Central Hotel. It is our 2nd time to stay there. We originally stayed at Park Central in July 2014 and had an amazing experience all around. The staff, the room, the bathroom, the concierge, the location were all wonderful! Our 2nd stay in June 2016 was nice but not as excellent as in 2014. I booked the Park Central through hotels.com in 2014 and 2016. I chose it for the clean and well kept rooms, the location and the price is fair. In June 2016, We were put in a "courtyard room (graveyard)" because of the price that we paid. If we spent $75 more a night they would upgrade us to a normal room. This room had a window but barely let in any natural light. You couldn't see what the weather was like until you went outside. The bathroom was so tiny that the only way 2 people could be in there at the same time was if someone was in the shower and the other at the sink. The shower was a tiny stall! I couldn't bath without my elbows hitting the walls. Although, the similar price in 2014 gave us an amazing room with a street view and a huge bathroom (no need to upgrade). The staff on this last trip were friendly but seemed to be rushed. Not the cozy vibe that we had in 2014.
Comparing with Hyatt (4 stars) in DC, Holiday inn (3 stars) in Buffalo and Holiday inn (3 stars) at 57th street NYC, this so called 4 stars hotel-Park central is nothing. The only advantage you have is location.1.The room is quite small, no coffee maker (I requested 2 times by phone, excluded I came to the front desk to request face to face),no refrigerator(you need to request, the quantity is limited and no one replied about whether they would supply or not.) 2.No hair conditioner in the bottle at the first night I stayed. After the third night, I left a note in the bathroom for the housekeeper and said"please refill the conditioner. Thanks." No one cared about this. The bottle was still empty. 3. Airconditioner was broken. Luckily the front desk changed a room for me. This is the worst experience I have in NYC. I am pretty sure I will not choose this hotel in the future and tell others about this experience. Again, if you don't care about the service at all, choose it. If you don't mind to walk several minutes more to Times Square or other sites and want better service and bigger room, Holiday inn midtown at 57th street is a good choice. And the rate is lower than park central.
Location After dinner , wife an I ready to go to bed, my wife noticed pillow cases nor linen was changed. We are avid travelers, we were horrified! Head of housekeeping had it changed at 9:00, but wife an I were tired and this event made us stand in hallway for almost an hour till changes were made.
Beds were decently comfortable. The showers were awful and almost gave us burns due to randomly shifting temperatures. If our daughter were there I guarantee she would have been burned. The staff wasn't the most helpful after we asked them about it either. The bell hops were hard to find and unfriendly. The elevators were slow and tiny. I stay in NYC quite often and this has been the worst place I've stayed. I will not be staying again.
The location was the only thing this place has going for it. The rooms ware super old. Old furniture. Super small bathrooms. Extremely small showers. Not clean. A real dump in my opinion.
The only good service I got was from the room service staff and the hotel handyman who came to help we with my heat after being dismissed by the front desk attendant The front desk staff I encountered upon check in was beyond rude, beyond inhospitable. I had to wonder if I was getting a rom for charity or had I not just spent a tidy sum to stay there. As a business owner, I had to speak to the management whose response was less than satisfactory. Had my check in by been at 11pm I would've cancelled and stayed elsewhere. Had I not been tired- the sidewalk outside would have sufficed. I will NEVER stay there again not recommend anyone to. I have Zero tolerance for bad service and rude staff. They should be let go or out around the back to count towels or something. Not interact with humans
It is located 10 minutes from Times Square and 2 minutes from Central Park. The room was not luxurious, but it was perfect for sleeping.
I liked the location to Central Park and Times Square. Ice machine access and air conditioner was touchy
The location was all we paid for. Great spot. The room was half the size of the photos and there was hardly room for the bed. The hair hair dryer set the smoke detector off. No fridge. No microwave. Had to pay for internet. Pretty much a bed storage closet with a smoking hair dryer.
the location was great. Close to several attractions - times square, rockefeller, central park, etc. the bathrooms need updating
Location was great. Next to Carnegie Hall and convenient to the subway. Comfortable beds. Front desk staff were friendly We did get free internet Shower ran hot and cold with no notice. Bathroom was cold, felt like it had no heat Difficult to ask assistance because the front desk was always busy and there was either no concierge or the one available was not very helpful or friendly
Location was extremely ideal! There was no thermostat so I wasn't able to control the heat. It happened to be the coldest weekend in NYC and the existing heater wasn't keeping up, making our room get pretty cold. I'm sure it wouldn't matter if it hadn't had gotten that cold
Nice rooms. Standard . Free upgrade . Close to time square . Very noisy . I can hear everything from the streets . But overall great place
Nice size living and bed room. Bath was small but nice arrangement. Wifi charges outrageous. Staff were not happy with their jobs.
We loved the huge rooms. I wish they had said it was a 2 bedroom, we would have taken a friend along. We figured it was just a normal room with 2 beds. It's always nice to know when you have an extra room.
Accomodations and staff were wonderful. Location is convenient and in an extremely staff area.
Conveniently located,comfortable,pleasant stuff.
It was clean and comfortable, beautifully decorated, quiet, friendly and helpful staff, excellent service - from doorman to housekeeping to room service,, conveniently located, cozy lobby and library - in short - a gem of a hotel. Will definitely return!! Absolutely no complaints!
We arrived early and our room was ready. We were able to check into our room early which was very much appreciated after traveling all night on the red eye. The staff was friendly, attentive and the hotel was charming and very clean. Great location to everything. We really enjoyed the Lantern's Keep downstairs.
Our stay at the Iroquois New York was absolutely fabulous. From the moment we arrived, we received excellent service from all the staff. The room was very clean and well appointed. The location was perfect. Vanessa, the concierge, was absolutely amazing; not only did she provide excellent recommendations for restaurants and attractions, but she went the extra mile in assisting us with obtaining a metro card for the subway. We will certainly recommend the Iroquois to our friends and plan to stay here again for our next visit to New York!
Location was excellent. I thought my room was way too small. I was in one of the 02 rooms and it was tiny. never stay in any of the rooms that end with 02. There was a gentleman in the library when I was there speaking on the cell phone complaining that his closet at home was bigger than his room. I asked to change out of my room and they said they were sold out. I will never stay at this hotel again unless I am shown the size of the room first. Otherwise, it was clean, good location and good staff.
The staff was absolutely amazing. Especially Rocky and Jenny. They were friendly and helpful and always with a smile. The rooms are kept well and are comfortable. The hotel is centrally located so most activities are in walking distance. I will stay there again when I go back in a few months. Everything was great!
Cosy and comfortable The ventilation in the toilet is noisy.
staff was outstanding comfortable room, if small great location older building with slow elevators :) small room (but it is Manhattan!)
Location, Location, Location! Great mid-town location, steps away from shops, theaters and landmarks. Friendly helpful staff. Comfortable room although very small bathroom. Great restaurant! Small bathroom.
Delightful. Very kind staff, lovely room. Very good value at just over $200 Room seemed a bit humid
Everything... great hotel, great location!
It was a nice hotel and the staff was all very nice, the free wifi doesn't work and the "premium" wants you to pay $15 a day. The location was great. Internet issues
Clean and convenient location. NYPD and NYFD right next door so you might hear sirens at all hours.
i had to wait for over an hour in a lobby for a check in - the garanteed check-in time was 3pm, at 2:58pm it was still "too early"
Rude staff long waits for checkin or any service Long waits for checkout. Substandard food in restaurant.
clean helpful I am used to complimentary breakfasts the buffet at $30 head was not that great! 0
Was able to find street parking in the neighborhood within 1 block from the hotel. The room smelled like cigarettes. The lighting in the room was horrible. There were three small lamps total (desk and two end tables) plus one single ceiling light by the entrance. The shower curtain was very long and covered part of the bathtub floor, causing me to slip and almost take a nasty fall. Had it not been for the safety grab bars (it happened to be a handicapped accessible room) that I was able to grab onto, I would have fallen. And leaving the curtain on the outside of the tub (so as not to slip) causes the floor of the bathroom to obviously get very wet.
Quality room including quality furniture. All staff interactions were pleasant. I was lucky to get a good price. Excellent location in Midtown East, very close to the southern end of Central Park. Not a hotel for people who crave a view. My room was very much a back alley view
Convenient local with the 4,5,6 trains on the corner of the hotel. DeMarco coffee next door was amazing. Room was updated and bed was very comfortable. Close enough to everything without being in the chaos!
The location is great. The staff was courteous. The room looked like it was from the 80's. The paint is cracking all over. Light fixtures not in securely and filthy windows. Carpet needs replacing and look around the ceiling you can see were there's a lot of repairs that needs to be done.
Size of room
The location of the hotel was perfect and very convenient. Our room was huge for being in Manhattan and the style was wonderful. My only complaint was the location of our room. We were right past the elevators and could hear everyone coming and going. We were woken up early by people speaking in very loud voices right outside our room for over 20 min.
All was well except for the last part of our stay where they wanted to charge 2$ for each bag kept in the hotel. They charged us for handbags that were actually attached to our carry ons so that was a total of 8$ for the bags... for such a hotel , I think that could be taken care off as a courtesy for guest. Smaller hotels even do.
This hotel banks on its location adjacent to Penn Station. That is the only positive and has allowed them to avoid improving. The facilities are atrocious: dirty rooms, bedbugs, outdated fixtures, uninvested staff, and hidden fees.
Maria B at the reservation area was fast and efficient. She got me in my room quickly without any headaches. She suggested a room upgrade which I agreed to and it made my night better. I'd say that she was the main one that kept me from ranking the service really low. Location was excellent. Check in was at 3:00pm and I arrived at 2:30pm. I asked one of the bell folks if I could use the bathroom and he gave me two key cards saying that "one of these should work". I went to the lower lobby area to open the door and both keys didn't work. I then went to the luggage check-in area and asked if I could use the bathroom. They said they didn't have a key either. Ok..now this is pretty damn ridiculous. I went back upstairs to the bell desk and told them that both keys didn't work. The guy told me to go to the reservation check-in area and see if I could get a key.... I was ready to give the front desk a piece of my mind, but the lady suddenly said that I was able to check in early (which made me feel better). I was asked if I wanted to get a room upgrade and I said yes. Really - all I needed was to use the restroom. It was pretty crazy how tough it was for a guest to do something as simple as that.
Location Check in took an hour, staff unmotivated, Rooms dirty, carpet ripped, beds uncomfortable and dirty, shower leaks all over bathroom and water temperature fluctuates from scalding to cold, thermostat broken so room temp uncontrollable, had to open window.....remote broken TV had one channel....just a terrible experience. ...they should be ashamed of themselves.
Only Location. Ugly and old room no air conditioner Bed to small for a a couple.
Location Bad hotel
The bed is very comfortable and the location is excellent. I stayed for one day only, so can't say much more. Because the hotel is old, a lot of its structure is rusted. It should definitely be renovated. The bedroom is small, but clean. The aged look is interesting, but they should change furnitures as soon as possible! It wouldn't be my first choice of hotel if I had to come to the city again.
I liked that it is right next to Penn Station and just two blocks from the venue where the concert I was there to see. The bathroom was very small, the TV was at least 15 years old and about 30ft from the bed.
I generally don't expect too nice of a place at the low rate...but the carpet was sticky and the beds were sticky and damp. None of the outlets worked. The staff was nice, but not the most accommodating. Although, in their defense, there really wasn't much they could do - it really just needs to be renovated. We had to wear shoes the entire time we were in our room, because the carpet was damp and sticky. Had to order fresh comforters everyday due to the beds being so damp and sticky. Did not look forward to going back to our hotel each night after our long days in the city. Needs renovation.
The location is very good. The price is high as compare to the quality of rooms but I guess it's because of the location I guess the price is high but rooms and bathrooms needs to be repaired.
Location to Penn Station and Msg couldn't be beat Little noisy. Not there fault.
NOTHING Rude staff. Super dirty. Charged far more than listed.
Location was very good Long waiting times at the front desk Poor service when requesting an additional blanket Fee for storing suitcases after check-out Expensive parking Expensive Outdated No kettle or coffee maker
The room was very clean, the set up of the room was modern and fresh! would stay again. they are doing renovations on certain floors.
The room was decorated beautifully with a nice contemporary feel and the bed was comfortable. Mold in the bathtub tile wall. There was quiet a lot of it so doesn't appear they do a good job of cleaning the rooms.
Location Price Cleanliness
Friendly staff Facility, Elevator was not working. We had to use staff elevator. Construction/renovation on the floor, right in front of my room. Dust and noise.
three windows in my room. Three urns of cold drinks in the lobby every afternoon. only one small elevator working for the entire week
Flight was delayed a full day, so we headed over to the hotel and was pleasantly surprised at the how much we got for our money's worth! The staff was extremely accommodating as well.
Location is perfect, hotel is beautiful, clean and comfortable. Desk staff was consistently rude over 4 days. Not so much to me but anytime I walked through the lobby I overheard snippy sarcastic remarks being made in response to questions.
Clean, nicely designed rooms; comfortable and cozy Construction work in rooms opposite - woken up by loud drilling and hammering at 9am for two of my three night stay. I think I should have been alerted to this fact before I registered.
staff and cleanliness the elevator did not work. We went to the service elevator.
The crisp white linens every day along with big fluffy towels. The staff were uniformly friendly and helpful. Being able to check our bags for a couple of hours on the day of departure prior to leaving for the airport was very appreciated.
It was in Manhattan, and had a bit of character- though not original to the time period so that's a bit unfortunate. There's decent coffee for sale in the lobby. Appeared to not overcharge me, and no sign of bed bugs! Room was 13' by 9' -that is being generous with the arms pan - that didn't really matter since we didn't hang out there, but it was laughable. Also had a shirt fall of a hanger just to retrieve it covered in dust bunnies. Key cards stopped working halfway through, not a big issue except it's a stair run up/down as the elevators are a bit wonky. Was hoping for old charm, didn't have much of it. Not really worth spending extra, overall. Seems like over $300 will get something special, otherwise might as well just book a Holiday Inn or something basic.
the staff was vert friendly and helpful. the room was largge for ny and very comfortable. the diner across fromthe hotel was very ny and had quiet a variety and would deliver. market closs by. everything you neeed for a relaxing ny trip their were problems with elevator but not serious to cause any discomfort
Terrible next door guests kept trying to get into my room.
Staff and Bull and Bear. Grew up on the WA. It's looks very tired now though. Ironing board was broken, Almost burnt my foot off. Had to check out early, check out staff had no remorse or offering to lessen my bill. Good stay but they don't go the extra mile, which they need right now, considering the competitive landscape of midtown hotels and their current status as kind of a shitty/ outdated hotel. Sorry WA, I love you but either drop your price or update.
Staff was excellent Room was spacious and very quiet Room was clean Bed was very comfortable I would definitely stay again The bathroom was dated and needs to be refurbished The windows also need to be refurbished, it had the old school shade that you pull down that is spring loaded. It also looked for worn. The walls also needed a fresh coat of paint, once again there areas that just looked a little worn.
THe room was amazing - largest I've ever seen in NYC. And sumptious. We were at the Waldorf during the Blizzard. Ordered room service for dinner (no restaurants were open) at 6:15pm, and they told us 1.5 hour wait. Fine, they were really busy. So, it wasn't until 8:45 that I called down to ask where was our order. It took them 15 minutes to discover that they had no record of our order, but they would expedite. So, we got our food by 9:20. One would have thought they would have comped us SOMETHING. Dessert, even. But, they didn't comp a thing. A REAL classy hotel would have offered something. Points off for that.
The staff were as professional and as helpful as any I've ever experienced. The meeting amenities and food were very high quality. My room was difficult to get to a comfortable temperature. The thermostat did not appear to have any bearing on the room which left me shivering through the night. Also, the fixtures in the bathroom were loose and the sink would not hold water.
Great location, room was clean Old and they don't maintain the building anymore as they will close in 2018. Service not really at Hilton level, the good old days are probably over. I think the hotel offers the value of a EUR 50.- 3* hotel in France or Italy, that's it! The breakfast buffet is ridiculously expensive and average only. Service is not really 5* level. I wouldn't book the hotel again.
I liked the kindness of the staff and all the resources available to make the stay comfortable The room service food could be a little better and I'd like bubble bath to be offered at the spa. Everything else was fabulous.
Staff very nice. Room was clean and quite. Great location I would stay there again
Grand lobby Pleasant hotel aroma Clean Friendly customer service Couldn't control room temperature Rooms a little outdated
Great location old rooms
Attentive and tailored customer care.
Very attentive, but not overdone and a great room very comfortable. Refreshing old world charm - it takes you back to a slower pace enjoying a drink at the Bull and Bear.
Nothing. Bed was super hard. Rooms are tiny.
Poorly disclosed 30$/day facility fee
I was grounded at LaGuardia and found the reservation on Booking.com at a really good price. It was perfect. Great view, great service, Jessica at the front desk was friendly and personable knowing that I'd had a bad day traveling. She gave me great local dinner suggestions, too.
They tack on all these fees when you arrive at the door. The bathroom is outdated and so are the tvs. The staff is also not too friendly including the information and door man.
Came down from Boston and wanted to stay near Penn Station to make traveling home easier. The location was good since it's a quick five minute walk to the train. My biggest complaint is that the hotel charged me an extra $25 fee for the business lounge, phones and wifi, which they didn't disclose to me at all. In fact, when I checked in, they touted their guest wifi as a feature of the hotel. You can imagine my surprise then when I woke up with a paper invoice slipped underneath my door in the middle of the night demanding I pay $25 for a "facilities fee." Seems like they are nickel-and-diming their customers to squeeze out every last dollar of an already expensive hotel. Beyond the hiddens fees, I stayed in a Double Metro room with a colleague. The room was a bit cramped without much room to move around. There were only two accessible outlets in the entire room, so charging phones and laptops between meetings was impossible for both of us at once. The others outlets either used European plugs or were inaccessible behind the headboards of the beds. In the middle of the night, the room became inexplicable hot and since you can't open the windows, there was really no way to cool it down. The shower fluctuated back and forth between frigid and scalding hot every 5 seconds. All in all, the facilities were so so and I was thankful my tripped was only schedule for one night.
Location Staff were not very friendly. Man at desk checking me in was quite short with me, he kept asking me for a voucher, I kept telling him I didn't have one. He obviously wasn't listening to me. He never said hello, welcome, please or thank you. I realize it was check in time so it was busy, but don't work in this industry if you can't deal with people more appropriately. I actually found all the staff quite stand-offish, except the gentleman at the bag check. I had no cold water for my shower, and there was a tag from previous visitor on the floor in the bathroom. I left a bag in one of the rooms, when I called half hour later, I spent 20 minutes on phone, being put on hold. I finally just went to hotel and asked security to get it.
Location Very Old hotel and very expensive
2 bathrooms for one room made it extra convienent. Clean rooms. Ask for a room with a view. You can't go wrong. Didn't have any issues with anything.
The location was good. The hotel and the room was old fashion. The pictures of the rooms that you show in your website doesn´t match the real ones. Also I had to pay an extra $100 for facilities fee.
Clean. $31 surchase went to hotel for no extra value. Was a ripoff with only a small print notice in addition to large print advertised price. Buyer beware. Wouldn't recommend or go back.
The location was awesome It was so small and incredibly expensive for what you get. There were families being evicted in adjacent rooms. Don't know the story there, but not your typical "4 star" experience.
I love this hotel.
Nothing I liked. Worst costumer service!! Front desk guests service were so rude. My room was already paid and booked for but still had to wait two hours just to get my room!
Close enough to walk many places. Staff was extremely friendly. Horrible view from window.
Items of our luggage were stolen
Nice hotel Check in process was BAD Booked via Kayak and they did not have my reservation I had a confirmation # Took almost an hour to resolve
We appreciated the entire stay. It was quiet, friendly staff, clean, accomodating, close to subway. Good food . We had to leave. We have recommended it to others and will be back.
Nice interior All staff Ive come across felt like security. They dont respond to greetings. When they selectively ask to see your room keycard to enter the hotel and you see the people in front of you stroll right in while you get "carded" almost everytime...Im a well groomed mid 20's asian business man on vacation what more do you want? And in the heart of korea-town no less! I avoided the staff for the rest of my stay due to their less than friendly disposition and most times they seemed too busy to talk to you because they are allll on their phones textingg! Mainly speaking of night staff. For such a historic Landmark of a Hotel the staff certainly takes away from its authenticity, beauty and glamour. As far as the rooms go everthing seemed fairly clean and nice. Only issue was the brown water I had to shower in and the air condition wasnt working the first day but their engineering staff promptly fixed the A/C unit.
Friendly and accommodating staff! Loved that everyone was there willing to help. Also liked the security of staff checking to make sure that all guests coming into the hotel were in fact supposed to be there. Didn't like that there wasn't a fridge and/or microwave in the room given the price. Room was very nice but for the price I would've expected at least a fridge.
I gues for us-measures this Hotel has to be considered old The Service is excellent and it is Central
Clean rooms, Small rooms
Location, rooms are comfy , free internet My mother's shoes were stolen, Along with my nephew's (2 and 1/2 yo) pillow and toys. The shoes were inside a suitcase the entire time which makes the case even worse. We complained at the front desk, but the staff were unapologetic and did nothing to solve the issue.
The room was spacious for NYC standards and very clean and well kept. The furnishings were modern and kept up to date. The staff was friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed our stay. It would have been nice to have a refrigerator in the room to keep our water, wine and cheese cold.
Very clean, staff was super nice and accommodating and it was very quiet! I highly recommend The Gild and we will definitely return. This is our new "go to" hotel! Elevators are slow but it certainly didn't affect our stay.
Very friendly and accomodating staff. Received a complimentary glass of wine immediately upon my arrival. Nice after 10 hrs on the road. Very good vibe. Comfortable beds, clean rooms, good location. The hotel was a bit hard to find despite having a GPS. Not really, the hotels fault, I guess. The bathroom wall was made of a transluscent mosaic panel, which did not offer much privacy. Ended up doing our business with the bathroom lights off most of the time. While this may not be an issue for some, with 4 adults in the room it was definitely a bit awkward at times.
Booked through Kayak and by some stroke of luck, received a free upgrade to the Thompson Suite upon arrival. If you can, book this room - it is absolutely amazing and without a doubt the most spacious hotel room I've ever seen in New York (or any other major metro area really). The staff was exceptionally helpful and accommodating and the property itself is both charming and luxurious. HIGHLY recommend - I've stayed at both the Thompson Smyth Tribeca and the SIXTY LES (when it was under Thompson management) and this was by leaps and bounds the best. Not necessarily a downside, but be aware that the hotel is ALL the way downtown - this was perfect for my needs, but could be inconvenient if you're not familiar with NYC when booking. Additionally, the elevators were finicky and slow, although the concierge was very helpful in remedying the issue. So all in all, no substantive complaints to speak of!
The room was great, good views, good toiletries, nice lobby and restaurant. Loved it. Hot water was not consistently hot enough.
The location to everything downtown New York was excellent; walking distance. The restaurant "Felice" was one of the best Italian Food I have ever had. Staff friendly!!
I travel quite a bit and have been in many hotels. This one is by far the best I have I stayed at. The service of the front desk as well as the willingness of everyone on staff to make your stay the best is what really stands out. It is located in a great spot and I wouldn't hesitate to stay again the next time I'm in NYC.
Service, vibe, ambience, location Workout facilities.
Overall great experience- modern, great staff, excellent restaurant. Would stay again!
We were greeted by the courteous staff after entering the unique entryway. A staircase surrounded by old books, leather seats, and an inviting chess set adorn the hall adjacent to a wine bar we were glad not to miss. The gold elevators requiring a room key to access brought us to our room. The bed was so comfortable, the room had a refreshing old school/hipster vibe. It has all the amenities you would expect from a great hotel and ten times the style. The location allowed us to hop on any subway we wanted and surrounded us with several landmarks and restaurants. We'll be comparing other hotels to this one from now on. The maids were even really nice to us. We loved staying in New York and even loved sitting back with a glass of wine in our room. I didn't like leaving.
Room very very small for paying that price. My window view was of another building like 3 inches apart. Sink wouldn't drain, remote control wouldn't work. Otherwise, the staff was nice and the bed was comfortable.
Nice lounge. Great location. Easy in / out. Flakey WiFi
The room and lobby were beautifully decorated and the hotel was in a great location right in the middle of manhattan. The staff was very professional and extremely helpful. The room was agonizingly small for the amount of money we paid for it. When we checked in the lady behind the desk said she was "upgrading" us, and we barely had enough room to walk around the bed. I shudder to think of how small our room was before the "upgrade".
The rooftop deck had great views and location was good They charge you for everything and it's super overpriced. The pool was a disappointment it's as big as a pickup truck
The value of the rates given the the area is great and it is centrally located in mid-town. The staff is very friendly and helpful. My room was noisy in the morning but quiet most of the other times.
The Empire charges mini bar rates for Keurig coffee in room. The bathroom was very, very small which made it difficult to use comfortably, and we are very small people.
Great value for location in central NYC. No complaints
I didn't sleep well- the bed was as hard as a rock. Good location
Location Too old and the room was too small worthless
Small rooms, great location. Good staff. Nice lobby
Our stall shower was missing the sliding door. The bathroom got soaked during every shower
The Empire Hotel was much, much nicer than I expected, considering that it is one of the more affordable options in Manhattan. The lobby was very stylish and featured a nice bar where people were meeting for drinks and snacks etc. The room was very small, but that is typical in big cities, and it was really nicely done, with a lovely bed, lots of towels and toiletries, etc. It felt very comfortable. The location is amazing: Lincoln Center is literally across the street, the subway is half a block away, and you can easily walk to dozens of attractions and the park. This will be my go to hotel from now on in NYC. The movies were a bit expensive to rent ($19!) but the internet was strong and cheap, so it didn't matter. I could hear the folks in the next room, but they were having an argument (whoops) and otherwise I couldn't hear anyone. NYC is noisy, so there's always going to be some noise. I really don't even consider these complaints, to be honest.
minibar was loaded with choices deceptive staff. gave me a different room with a smaller bed than the one I paid for. but after waiting on lobby for an hour after my check in time because the manager hadn't inspected the room, I was too tired and Aggravated to argue!
friendly staff simple old NYC charm, architecture large, well appointed rooms for an older hotel easy access to meetings
I love this hotel. I love the staff and I love the rooms. This feels like a hotel in a small town. I always reserve here even if the price is more expensive. Keep up the good work chandler. Better gym room.
Old shower and bathroom
The location is great. The bathrooms are nice. Internet worked well. However it lacks the charm I was expecting from a boutique hotel in New York. The rooms have an old feeling. The decoration in general is fairly old style. And when we tried to get room service for breakfast nobody picked up, we were told we will be called back and after 30 min we just gave up. Not worth the price, I would rather do a Hilton or Hyatt for same price with much better bed, service and vibe.
Convenient and close proximity to our corporate office.
Excellent facilities, clean rooms, great location, right in the heart of Manhattan.
Friendly, helpful staff. Bad view out of room 733.
Staff was amazingly attentive. No ice on floor
The staff was amazing. Polite and personable, always willing to help and proactive in resolving any booking issues. Would definitely stay again. Also, there is an amazing shop right on the next corner that has an incredible selection of foods, from ice cream and pizza to a full salad bar, that stays open for your late night cravings. Conveniently close to the hotel. If I must search for something negative to say..... Maybe the room seemed a little cramped? Didn't affect us because we were out and about but had we stayed in I suppose we'd have to use the descriptor "cozy."
The staff was excellent! The location of the hotel was great and the room was incredibly clean and comfortable. nothing.
Service was exremely pleasant and accommodating. Room was the smallest room I have ever stayed in. There was no room to put suitcases, no drawers for clothes, insufficient room for toiletries, not even a box of tissues. TV wall mouint was broken so huge TV took up entire desk. TV did not work properly, either. Mattress was worn out and sagging. Room was generally down at the heels.
Rooms and staff were excellent! Front desk, bar, concierge and bell men. Very very helpful to me when I hurt my ankle. Heard cleaning staff complaining in the hall, they didn't care who heard them.
The staff are excellent. They make every effort to ensure that you are welcomed and enjoy your stay.
The staff was pleasant and helpful. The room and bathroom were small. no place to put the suitcases. also one elevator did not work for over 2 days and we did not have water for 12 hours.
The staff was so nice and went above and beyond to be as helpful as they could. Mario was a wonderful door man that was able to compensate the trouble we had with our door. Chris and Danny helped my mom and I get metro cards so we could use the subway to travel around the city. Danny physically walked us to the train station to show us where to buy the metro cards. We had issues with the door to our room the entire stay, the key card wouldn't work after ten minutes of being programmed.
The staff is excellent-helpful and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable. Very good bar. A small annoyance--all of the housekeeping paraphernalia (carts, towels, etc) was stored right outside my room. No noise or anything, just a bit unsightly.
location cleanliness and front desk staff
We liked that we could walk to the Majestic to see The Phantom and the feel that we were in the middle of the city. We were on the 45th floor and we hardly got any sleep. Our neighbors were partying from 11:00 pm-2:00am. Lots of slamming doors and arguing. It was horrible and when I finally called at 2:00 am the person at the desk made it feel like it was my fault for not calling earlier. You need to have security making rounds to insure a pleasant stay for your guests. Plus, it was our 10th anniversary!!!!!
The hotel was very nice, verrry expensive. Seconds away from the heart of time square. Great experience!! Cost of items were outrageous, but that is probably just New York, Time Square.
good service and central position for sightseeing and shopping. we waited 20 minutes for somebody to help us with our cases from the 42nd floor to a waiting taxi and nobody arrived. we had to manage 4 large cases on our own.to the waiting taxi..
i loved the location
Location, staff friendliness, room standards
Walking distance to subway, Times Square, 5th Avenue, and various popular eateries We asked for a fridge but never got one. ; ( however, it's ok bc we weren't in the room much anyways
The room size was good for NYC. The staff was friendly. The location is good if one wants to be close to the theater district. We couldn't turn the heat off. We tried turning the temperature as low as it could go and it was still blowing warm air.
Location is great and NYC atmosphere is why you head to this area. Hotel is going through renovations and rooms were not clean. Bathroom had mold and tub was missing shower parts. Not what we expected.
The service was excellent
Great location!! The hotel was very clean and the staff was really nice and helpful.
Well placed,we went a lot to the theatre, conciers and the theather -people were extremly helpful and nice Nothing
Location. Amiable staff. Free internet Reception. Sometimes you have to wait too long to th elevator
Quick and easy check in and check out; tight security; pleasant, budget-friendly rooms Problems with electronics--TV difficult to turn on/off, alarm clock malfunctioned, heating/cooling system unresponsive to thermostat
the location next to Rockefeller center
Room on floor 5 under fitness center on 6, Very distracting with pounding of treadmill at most hours. Renovation needed on room (stained sofa carpet not vacuumed, bath door off support called and told didn't have part in stock to fix, glasses not cleaned etc.) Level of customer service minimal. will move on next trip to other hotels.
The staff were unhelpful, rude and the room wasn't clean or to standard. Thoroughly disappointed.
Location was perfect for marathon activities and staff was very helpful. Rooms a bit small, but ok for value.
Great location. Clean and friendly staff. Nothing special. Would like to use it next time too.
I liked best the kindness and the availability of the staff. The bed sheet was not done carefully, except on the first day. The cover was just drawn.
Great Location and services, comfortable room, bar and food was excellent. Delighted with the thoughtful ref. books left in our room and the "Club" atmosphere. *****
It was central to everything in NY, within a few minutes walk you were in one of the major attractions of NY. It was reasonably priced. Good servicing. The room was a bit small, but was bearable.
The location was great. It was extremely clean and had everything that we needed for our stay. I would appreciate having a airport shuttle.
