Just off the palace-lined Via Garibaldi in Genoa, the Best Western Hotel Metropoli, Genoa, Italy, is a comfortable hotel overlooking one of the old town's prettiest little squares, with bright, restful rooms and free Wi‑Fi, among grand 16th-century buildings. The Carlo Felice Opera House, Palazzo Ducale and the old antique shops sit just around the corner, and the Aquarium of Genoa is a short walk away through the historic lanes. The Old Port and the seafront are close by. Genoa is Liguria's storied maritime capital, a maze of tall houses and narrow caruggi above a working harbour. The marble palaces of Via Garibaldi, part of the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Palazzi dei Rolli and Strade Nuove, recall the wealth of the old banking republic, while the Aquarium of Genoa and the Old Port draw crowds to the waterfront, and steep alleys hide frescoed churches, artisan workshops and tiny shops. Riviera beaches and the picturesque fishing village of Portofino lie a short way along the coast. - CIR: 010025-ALB-0049, CIN: IT010025A12NXSWWLV
