staff was cordial, particularly upon check-in; rooms were comfortably and homely; very close to 7th street in melville (literally just a walk up the stairs!) would have appreciated later breakfast times; they only serve until 9:15, which is rather early, in my opinion. as a result, did not eat there.
The service was great-- a driver met us at the bus station to take us to the B&B. It was an inexpensive and convenient way to travel. The breakfast was also tasty-- fresh fruit, croissants, and your choice of omelettes!
The place is clean, the owner & staff are very helpful and its location very relaxing. Would not hesitate to bring my family to this place the next time round.
Very Helpful Staff, Great Breakfast, On a Private Street but close to Businesses and restaurants, Safe area
Welcoming staff, excellent position steps from Melville restaurants&pubs strip, very large rooms.
Service was poor. No coffee in the room as advertised, no continental breakfast was served and the general appearance of the guest was was not as advertised. It was an horrific experience for me and I will not advise anyone to stay there. The food and service were poor.
Very nice premises in quiet area near Sandton Mall (2 miles). Very kind people. Value for money.
Very nice and comfortable as I had a home in south africa . dr jayesh ateendant edwina is like mother wants to give all possible help to customers as children
The location was good The owner is awful and difficult. The breakfast was terrible. The price was ridiculous for something of this quality.
Ownwers very friendly, and go out off there way to make it comfortable, and still do maintenance to improve the hotel No
They were very knowledgable about the local area. The B&B was rediculously priced, they then tried to charge over £100 a night for an extra bed in the room. They were inflexible and had no cancellation policy. The breakfast was awful with pets in the dining room and it was not open at the times specified on the opening hours sheet. I know it is a business but I felt as if al they were worried about was money - whatever it was for only money mattered.
Nice, peace, quiet, safe (given the reputation of the city) The cistern of my toilet in room ! was broken and every time I flashed, I had to open the top and re-align the flash unit! Minor for me though, but a fussy guest might not feel the same way.
the freindly host and quiet environment
A very nice resting place away from the city noise and stress. The landlady is always available to make you feel confortable. The breakfast is a must facing the outside pool....This mansion with a thach roof and the outside garden made me feel at home.
Truly a "home away from home". I used to stay at the big hotels in and around Sandton City. Not anymore, from now on it's going to be The Thatchfoord Lodge. The setting is beautiful, the sound of the adjacent river is most calming, and yet, one is so close to businesses and restaurants. I can highly recommend this lovely little hotel to anybody.
The Manager was very helpful and we had a lovely breakfast in the morning. The television was terrible and due to the fact it was not safe to go out at night, did not suit our requirements for an overnight stay. If we were to do this again we would stay in a hotel/guest house nearer the airport. The lodge was lovely, comfortable and Ria the Manager could not be more helpful, but just did not suit our requirements and would not recommend for anybody who is just doing a stop over for one night.
Clean, helpful owner. Nice beds, warm cottage. the location, it was ok but a bit far.
Small. Friendly. Convenient location close to Pretoria, International airport and Johannesburg. Over priced compared with comparable 3 / 4* hotels where provision- understandably was superior in all respects.
Quiet, friendly Bad access, only with taxis
Very friendly and the breakfast included was very good.
Maggie and Ernest are very nice people. They also have three wonderful boys.
Hospitality and helpfulness - treated like family
