The staff was great. It was pretty clean an quiet. Pool was nice. Wasn't as close to the beach as they advertise. Still had to take about a 15-20 minute drive. The room service is terrible. Very limited menu, nothing very appetizing. we finally decided on a pizza and a pork dish, which were both very bland and not that good to be honest. And our bill turned out to be $90!!! Such a rip off. That's the most I've ever paid for something like that and I've stayed at many hotels in my life.
Everything Wasn't really anything we didn't like.
The one thing I disnt like was for our taking an hour to get ready and they have to give us another room. Also, I think I was charged different from what was on the bill I got from the hotel.
Location is priceless We reported our bathroom light wasn't working. We were told it would be repaired while we were out. It wasn't repaired and I question whether anyone really came to the room. There was a paper wrapper and something else small on the carpet near the door. We left it there to see if the housekeeping was doing their job. We stayed 3 days and so did the paper. No pool beverage or food service. I can understand that might be the case in the winter, but not in July. For such an outstanding location and view, you would expect a beautiful dining experience. Not so, it's the same boring coffee shop style room it was at our last visit over 15 years ago. Menu is limited and pricey. We walked next door to the beautifully remodeled Lodge at Torrey Pines and had a outstanding breakfast with an incredible view. We will be staying there next trip.
The view was amazing, the hotel was beautiful. , I wish there were more staff on hand for the check out, I would have liked to confirm the receipt and everything, but the line was so long that we had to leave to make an appointment we had without getting to the front desk.
Private and quiet. Great pool and spa. Nothing.
I have a nice stay. Beautiful property.
Beautiful grounds. I had to get housekeeping to clean the bathroom as it was really, really disgusting! The toilet was so bad I do not know how they could possibly not clean it. Then the shower also looked like it had been used as a toilet! Had to also go to front desk our second day there to ask for some one to clean our room! Beautiful grounds but housekeeping is the worst I have ever seen! Not what I would expect of a Hilton.
Maids did not show up At All one day! Bellmen were rude and disrespectful
Reception was very nice. Decor is nice. Room was clean, set up nicely. All updated. To no fault of the hotel, it's a drive to restaurants and shopping. Parking at the hotel is quite expensive, run by a separate company.
The staff, the views, and service was outstanding Food at the resturaunt was a bit pricy but still good
Registration was so easy, the staff member was very pleasant, the environment was calm and peaceful. Every thing felt hassle free. I would of like to of had a better selection on the dinner menu. The parking situation was not explained clearly, so I payed twice for parking.
The pool is very nice and most of the staff are friendly. They didn't answer their main telephone number, at all, in the days leading up to my arrival. They also do a poor job of warning guests that July 4 fireworks cannot be viewed from the hotel unless you are in a private reserved area. Missing much of the fireworks while exploring the hotel for a non-exclusive vantage point was, needless to say, a bummer. Housekeeping was marginal: some room service items weren't removed, shampoo/toiletries weren't replenished, and drain in shower was clogged with sand upon arrival.
Lobby The room was tiny, very uncomfortable, and lousy view. The charge for the room was ridiculous. We also had to pay $30 to park her car.,,
Room was clean and comfortable. Workout room had plenty of equipment. Pool was small but refreshing. Price seemed like a bargain, until learning... Parking was $28 per day. Internet was $13 a day ($17 for fast). Rooms with two beds had double beds, not queens like other hotels. We originally booked one room with two beds but ended up getting a second room so our adult children would be comfortable. We spent more than twice what we expected. And then they over-changed us for parking, so we had to get that corrected. The hotel was fine but the price and experience were less than great.
There for a wedding; venue, food and staff were great. Nice they had small frig and a little coffeemaker in room. There are some small shops and eateries (i.e. Einsteins Bagels) nearby. Room was nice. Bar was nice and open late. Pet friendly, lots of dogs around if you like dogs. Good gym, and pool was nice and warm. $25/day parking, and $12/day for wifi (think free wifi if you reserve as rewards member). Luckily there is some street parking 2 blocks away on weekends (otherwise 2 hr 8-6) and some all day on Lajolla Village Dr. Location was in a business park area so wouldn't want to stay there except for an event.
It was excellent I will stay ther any time
Modern facility Location far removed from the waterfront (about 4 miles) Impersonal business hotel Expensive fee for parking ($25 a day), not justified given the location No free Wifi available in the rooms
Previously to my arrival I dealt with Ms. Adela Prada (reception) and Mr. Siamak Nassirpour (manager). They were responsive, attentive, kind and efficient and they resolved satisfactorily all the issues I had. The room was a little bit small.
Location to UCSD and easy access to North SD attractions. Plenty of eateries within close distance of hotel. Staff was super friendly and as promised got us a noon check-in. Thumbs down on $25 parking
I was given a handicap room that smelled like wet dogs and my socks were covered with dog hair! I had to call maintenance to come fix the toilet as well.
Upgrade to a balcony room w/seating area No working lights on the balcony, so we didn't go outside
Every ammenity cost money. For example, the ad for the hotel advertises Wifi but to get this feature in the room you must pay $12.95 a day.
Room was very nice, hotel staff very pleasant. location was pretty close to La Jolla shores which was a big bonus! $25 a night parking, making you pay $12 a day for internet... my phone is cheaper than that, no free breakfast, no hot tub, no sauna, the gym was very basic. Pretty disappointing paying premium price for everything but getting basic hotel features the holiday inn down the street would have offered.
Close to UCSD campus. I prefer Marriott hotels cause I have silver membership. This particular hotel staff was unfriendly, slow and insulting intellectually. I prepaid my two days stay and called the hotel the day before and asked for two queen beds. still on arrival rudely I was told that Queen bed rooms were all sold out. At check out waited 20 minutes in the room and ended up carrying everything ourselves. Given excuse was they were very busy. Very snob attitude. No one apologizing. Do not recommend.
Service was super sweet and the rooms were nice. On the other side of the 5- not beach side of La Jolla. Parking as a little expensive.
The location was outstanding. The view from our balcony was breathtaking. The lobby was tastefully decorated and parking was available and easy. Seems a little exessive to charge additionally for parking- it is not secure parking in an enclosed lot. The rooms were a little shabby, specifically the bathroom and carpeting. There was trash in the trashcan and food crumbs on the balcony when we checked in. The balcony was not ever cleaned during our stay.
Convenient, clean, quiet, nice balcony. Staff was very helpful getting me set up with wireless connection. $75 deposit for wireless card. It was refunded, but it would be more convenient if there was wireless without needing a card.
they were under construction, thought they could have waited until winter, or charged less for the noise and mess not charged full price. see above
Location, close to the shore/beach Shops Restaurants Amenities Galleries Construction noise Must pay for parking
very well located, spacious rooms with balcony, small details (fruitbasket, iced coffee in the lobby, free wifi) no refrigerator in the room; parking fee (12$ per day)
We stay at this Best Western every time we go to La Jolla....we always have a great experience....great prices don't like having to pay for parking
it;s a good spot for us as I come to go to the VA hospital the thing that is the most madding is there is no where on site that says there is going to be a parking fee when booking on line!!!
Best western by the sea provided ample parking, the rooms were clean and comfortable which allowed us to enjoy la jolla as were able to get a good nights rest.
Centrally located in downdown La Jolla close to restaurants, shopping and beautiful walks by the ocean.
Great convenient location off the freeway, but generally quiet. Nice grounds, restaurant and bar just fine. Older property but pretty well maintained with nice landscaping. Easy in and out. Price is reasonable and perfect for general business and leisure stays. Not the place for flashy La Jolla style or the middle of the village or coast views. Small bathrooms.
Very nice old classic. Parking fees.
Was visiting UCSD. perfect location. Walking distance. Comfortable atmosphere, friendly staff. Great.
Gardens, pool, clean, desk service.
The rooms were big and clean, beds very comfortable, staff very helpful and friendly. Great location. Fee for parking was $15 per night..this was not noted on the Website.
Close to shopping center Poor front desk service
Great pool Staff was very helpful
Access to freeways. I often visit with children - The proximity to whole foods and other stores is helpful. It's a fairly quick drive to the beach. I stay at the Sheraton frequently because of points. I find that the staff seem scarce and rarely that friendly with the exception of the cleaning staff. The hotel rooms are adequate but showing their age. The suites are anything but delux. The layout of the suite type room is awkward with the bedroom directly at the door and hallway which requires walking thru the bedroom to get to sitting room. It does seem perfectly acceptable if your business is covering the cost of the hotel. In terms of value, as a leisure traveller, there are great smaller but charming hotels closer to the village/beach with a better price.
Beautiful view, clean room with comfy bed, feels safe and staff helpful. I didn't attend many, but enjoyed the planned facility activities that were offered daily. The pier is such a nice walk. I didn't see much of Oceanside itself, felt like everything I needed was just a few mins walk. The key cards were a pain. I needed to replace mine several times, but the staff gladly assisted.
The pool was nice and the grounds were lovely Overpriced for the value
Loved setting and charm of older hotel in downtown La Jolla. Ease to the beach and beauty of surrounding are.
Bed was amazing, very roomy and great price. AC was a nice perk and the proximity to beach and shops was perfect. We went for a relaxing get away it surely delivered. Parking was more challenging and valet was expensive.
Too many gnats in our room
This is a nice quaint hotel in the heart of the town of La Jolla. They have a friendly capable staff
The Breakfast was nice. The room they served it in was to small for the amount of people.Great staff. Good location 2 blocks from the beach. The parking was $18 for valet. We parked a couple blocks away for free.
Stayed here with my husband and two daughters, 7 and 9. We really didn't spend much time in the hotel, but it was clean and quiet. The location was nice for the coast, shopping and dining. The complimentary breakfast was a bonus.
The service was excellent, hotel employee at the front desk went above and beyond to help us!!
That it found a room for me after I arrived an learned that IT DID NOT HAVE MY RESERVATION! I brought a printout of the Priceline confirmation and got what the staff said was the only remaining room, the result of a recent cancellation. That the cleaning staff got my bed ready for the evening but failed to pick up wet towels I left on the floor after my shower at 5 pm (to prepare for a pre-wedding reception for out of town guests).

The breakfast was excellent! The room was very comfortable. Parking was very expensive at $18 a day.
Very nice and close to downtown La Jolla. Nice bar and good night life The bar tender was sort of grumpy and not too friendly.
The beds were very comfortable, friendly staff, excellent coffee, cute shops in walking distance! The only bummer was the parking. You don't have to pay for the hotel valet (which I think was $18 a day), but you can only park your car on the street at certain times. We felt rushed to get ready in the morning so we wouldn't get a parking ticket.
The staff was amazing. Ben, at the front desk, was incredibly kind and helpful with excellent recommendations. Even the room service staff was superior! I liked everything.
Location, right in the center of downtown La Jolla. Easy to walk around the shops and to the beach area. Parking is at a premium. Costs $18.00 per day for valet. Not a problem if one is staying a night or two, but a week might be a cost issue!
Nice location on beachside of larger street (250 yds from beach), noice not bad at all. Ocean glimpse from most rooms, nice patio with chairs and table just outside room, motel style with rooms one stair up Continental breakfast just a muffin. Bonus is fridge and micro in room. Carpets could have been less worn. Could do without the breakfast
Close to the beach. The rooms were a little dirty and our air conditioner was broken.
located right next to pacific beach - great location. rooms were large and clean. bathroom with power shower. big plasma tv - very enjoyable stay. continental breakfast was not great.
The comfort of the room, porch with table and chairs and a clear view of the ocean. No
This is by far our favorite hotel to stay at when we visit. We recommend it to all of our friends and family!
close to beach, walking distance to food, shopping, nice atmosphere, beds very comfortable parking was a little tight
It is close to the Pacific and Missin beach areas - a good place to have a rest
I liked the cleanliness of the room (definitely one of the cleanest I've ever stayed in for the price). The bathroom was tastefully remodeled, and the hotel staff was accessible and friendly.
The room was quiet and located within walking distance of the beach. The shower was the worst shower I have ever had. There was absolutely zero water pressure. It felt like I was taking a shower in a light rain storm. The room wasn't excessively dirty but does need a little more elbow grease in the bathroom.
Location, spacious rooms, nice pool A little bit run down, trash containers behind room, smells bad.
Great staff. Clean and the location couldn't be better.
This hotel is a real gem, right on the beach. The hotel exceeded my expectations in all categories. Found my new place at Pacific Beach.
The hotel is located in a great position right on the ocean and the staff was great. I didn't research the parking costs before checking in. We were charged $20 + a day. I'm not sure how that compares to other hotels.
SO convenient, great location, beautiful beach and the most friendly helpful staff I've been around. we would recommend it without a doubt.
Great hotel. Perfect location. Staff was very friendly and interacted with everyone. That alone would make me stay here again. The views are amazing. Great place to just get away and relax.
This trip was one of our best experiences ever, and Pacific Terrace was central to that. Extremely friendly staff, yummy breakfast, beautiful room...this hotel had it all. I can see now why it is so highly rated. It has all the amenities you could ask for without the pretension or pricing of a resort. They only serve breakfast and have some offerings for room service, but trust me we didn't miss having a full restaurant. There is so much right outside the door if the hotel! We'll be back! Can't think of a thing!
Everything was great! Staff was super nice and location was perfect. I will be staying here again.
Awesome staff to help with day planning and restaurants
Right on the beach, Great service.
This place was right off the beach. The area was well kept and there are plenty of food places within walking distance. The resort package fee included all of the little things tourist would like to do. From buggie boarding to bike rides, this hotel had it all! The staff was VERY friendly and accommodating. Our room had a double bed instead of a king. We slept in both lol
Location Location Location Floors were dirty, outside was very dirty specially around dumpster area, stunk. Drug use was heavily around hotel, seemed to be more run down than I can remember from last visit. Great location, just need to work on cleaning the street patio and sidewalks. Spilled drinks and garbage everywhere.
It can be a it noisy at night which would only be a problem if you're trying to go to bed early. If you're not a night person you should probably stay somewhere else it's a great spot for hopping the bars nearby.
The staff at the front desk were very nice and helpful. The location is great. It's close to all the bars and restaurants. It was also supper nice walking out our door and the beach being right there. The cleaning staff was very rude and didnt clean well at all.
Location is awesome. Right on the beach. Pool is good. No air conditioning. We had no chair or furniture of the sort in our room. Hotel it's self needs a face lift.
The view was amazing!
Pool area and Spiders in room. Shower curtain fell off tension rod too loose causing the whole thing to fall and hit me in the head.
On my way to Sandiego I had to be taken by ambulance from Seatac to not one, but two different hospitals. My family nd I had to stay the night in the hospital in Seattle instead of at the surfer. The next day we had to fight to change our flights with the or lines and supply a dr's note to the airlines so we could have them changes for free. After showing up t the hotel with two hospital bands and a dr's note, the hotel wasn't so forgiving. I still had to pay for the night I missed right before Christmas. If you're looking for a compassionate staff, don't look here
The location is absolutely beautifully amazing. The view is unbelievable. The location is right next to the boardwalk and beach, and is very pet friendly. There are some hours that dogs are not allowed on the boardwalk/beach but there are lots of other close by beaches they are slowed at. Definately recommend this hotel. This hotel is definately an older hotel with a great location and we stayed in September I would have thought that the prices of the rooms would have been a little less than they were.
The location is great. Depending on your room, you'll probably have a view of the beach, and there are plenty of bars/restaurants within walking distance. The room was a sauna. Even on the first floor, the room retained so much heat that it was hotter than outside no matter what time of the day/night. No A/C, but they did provide a floor fan, which I had at full blast whenever I was in the room. The furniture and cosmetic stuff was nice and modern for the most part, but it was a fledgling attempt to conceal the aged condition of the overall building.
Staff was accommodating and nice.
I'm a single lady, they put me on the bottom floor, though I requested an upper level. NO AC, and since I was on I couldn't open my sliding door during the night. The sliding door opened out to a inner corridor not an individual patio. Decor was dated and ugly. I'm a single lady, they put me on the bottom floor, though I requested an upper level. It was conveniently located, had a nice atmoshere and a friendly staff. The price was also very economical. I even received a room with microwave and refrigerator. No, I liked everything about it.
Was a block from the bay Staff had no idea of where anything was as simple as towels ... they offer a hottub bt yet do not have one.. accepted our reservation and then didn't have the room when we showed up they called it an upgrade to a semi finished suite no tv and regular pieces of wood for counter top completely unprofessional
I like the proximity to PB. Drunk people were having a heated argument at a late hour. Cleanliness of the room was ok, but liked that the tiled floor was clean. The access going southbound on Mission Bay Drive can be easily missed and confuse people not familiar with the area.
Extremely good value, very clean, good access to coast and city. Would stay there again next time.
The bed and pillows were nice. It was the worst experiance I have ever had. construction was going on in the room next to us, early in the morning. The staff did nothing about it. We were told that our room was newly remodeled and it was not completed. It had holes in the drywall, no T.P.holder, carpet coming loose from the wall. It was terrible.
Clean, simple, spacious, everything worked, in the middle of all neighborhood so easy access to freeway to go in any direction to la Jolla or downtown and away from the backed up beach traffic And the other reviews about the staff was no lie! Excellent!!!
location is good. sink is leaking, airconditioning is leaking making the front door of the room always flooded with water.some staff is not friendly, charged our credit card with someone else room...
simple clean rooms comfortable beds friendly staff
They remade our bed and provided new towels when we were out during the day. Not very many choices for breakfast. I stayed there a few years ago and they had a variety of granola bars; that was not the case this time. Carpet was stained and we did not walk on it barefooted.
Great location. Friendly Staff, Nice rooms. Paid Parking. Most spa functions are at additional costs.
Balcony views of Mission Bay and the Pacific Ocean. Expected concierge to be more knowledgeable regarding restaurant choices.
Liked the views of the ocean and bay, staff were very friendly, loved the warm water in the pool
Location is great right at the mission bay beach front and the oceana restaurant sits facing the mission bay beach. Staff is friendly at hotel as well as the restaurant. Stayed at the tower. While wifi connection was excellent and convenient, the rooms need update. In particular, the air conditioner (heater/cooler) spews out bad odor.
Great value for the money! Lots of local activities to do on the property, and wonderful accommodations throughout. It's a great place to try Stand Up Paddle Boarding for your first time! Rooms are spacious if you get the suite, and we really loved the grounds! It's a tropical paradise! Well maintained! The restaurants are pretty good, we would recommend the Sunday brunch at Oceana! Also, take advantage of the Bahia Belle cruise in the evening hours. Unfortunately, when you make a late night request, the staff doesn't come up to your room and bring you whatever you need. Aka, we needed some late night towels and we were told to come down to the front desk (all the way from the tower rooms) and get them ourselves. This has never happened to me, especially at a "4-star" resort. In addition, I have been to many spas in my lifetime, and I felt that their spa treatment was very overpriced for the quality of massage received. Overall, we can't decide if we would come back because the positives were so great, and the negatives were so bad! We are 50/50.
Beds are comfy, helpful and courteous staff, great location. All was great. No complaints.
We had a great time. Daughters wedding was fabulous, every detail was handled beautifully. We had many out of town guest that were as pleased as we were!
Fabulous view from the rooms and very comfortable beds.
Close to Pacific Beach The AC went out in our building they were not able to give us a different room. My 2 month old baby ended up with a heat rash it was terrible. Then the soap dish was covered in hair as the last customer shaved and tiny hairs were all over our soap. The humidity without an AC was unbearable. We paid way too much for what we got. Hotel did nothing about any of this.
Quite Almost every thing but the most was the $20 parking charge. after $300 per night they ask me pay for the parking! !!!!!!
Clean and quiet Hard to find a night. No signage from the street.
Location, price, amenities, and breakfast was a bonus!
Good location to get to anywhere you want to go. A little drive back to San Diego but not bad. Close to ocean. Adding on to hotel and when they finish it will be really nice.
It had old style charm, and was centered around a courtyard with the pool in it. Very family friendly. There's construction going on, but it really didn't affect us that much. The front staff was very nice and accommodating to us.
We have always had great experiences at this hotel. It has a great location and a relaxed atmosphere. Staff is friendly and warm. We plan to use again.
Location Under construction!!!!!! Pool was not in working condition!!!!!(closed) parking lot was a mess w/ construction materials/ equipment!
Great hotel. Good breakfast, decent location. It's almost perfect. Rooms are small and there are no doubles but they're quick at getting a folding cot so that worked. The location is great if you don't mind traffic in the morning. Hotel is being remodeled so keep that in mind.
The room we got was big and comfortable. Nicely finished and quiet. There nothing really close to the hotel to eat. Had to drive awhile to get my food.
The hotel was not a typical hotel set-up. The rooms were all separate, which was nice. The breakfast room was close by, as was the pool/hot tub. There was no parking at all! There was construction going on, so parking was hard to find. A few nights, we had to park away from the hotel and walk.
The location is awesome The hotel is under major construction which created some issues for sure The hotel should have stated that on their web site.
For vacationers, not for business travel. Rooms are large and comfortable, though hotel is far from a "luxury" resort. Remote from downtown San Diego. Restaurant/bar closes early.
see my yelp review see my yelp review
Staff was beyond attentive, when we first arrived the person at the front desk asked us if we were there top celebrate. I said yes for our anniversary, from there everything was so amazing. They gave us a complimentary upgrade to a bay view room, the morning staff sent us roses, teddy bears, robes, sandals and two cards saying happy anniversary. I've never felt this special in any hotel. Definitely will come back! !! Parking was an issue but manageable.
The pool and hot tub were great fun for the kids. Nice view, clean, not crowded! The room was spacious and the grounds were peaceful. We waited almost an hour to get our dinner, which for kids is not a good thing. But it was apparently a busy night with a large party in the restaurant, and the food was delicious, and the hostess apologized profusely. So all in all, not so bad.
Staff was great. Very friendly and helpful Carpet looks old
I found dirt and bugs (flies) in my food while eating by the pool area and the people at frescas said it was seasoning and the dirt was olive pulp. I know the difference and the was mad I was eating and feeding my one year old. I still had to pay for my food. It took the servers way to long to deliver. One of the people at the front desk never sent up the towels I asked for And the food was nothing I couldn't make. Not gonna lie I was WAY disappointed.
The staff friendly and polite, responsive there was signage at the entry that the resort is celebrating 50 years. It looks every bit like that. The carpets were in bad shape, there was a moldy musty stench in all rooms that was very hard to adjust to. There were moths in the room which is something I haven't seen very often in any hotel. No fan in the bathroom. Definitely the worst Hiton I've stayed at and not worth the money.
Waterfront activity options Parking was not convenient - getting in and out through the gates was annoying. Some of the common areas should be updated.
We loved the pools and the views of Fiesta island! We loved how quiet the resort was the live ducks in the pool areas were so awesome and the shower head was amazing The elevator in village grande was very loud it was all we heard our whole stay even over the tv! The coffee in the rooms might as well be hot water it was not good!
Loved everything about our exoerience The pool could have been a little cleaner
We loved the golf course and beach access so near. Felt like we were in Hawaii, beautiful grounds Fun bar and live band A few more activities would be nice, perhaps led by the hotel and options for things to do with family. Room exteriors need to be updated. Finish construction asap. Update pool areas to include a "babies" water fun area A facelift of the buildings and some paint is key.
beautiful sunsets really terrible hidden $37 parking fee and the resort upkeep not great. also bring a trash can because there is not a single one on the property.
I enjoyed the view of the water and the jungle like grounds. For $300 a night the rooms should be updated. The bed was of low quality and the TV did not swivel to face the bed. The bathroom was old and needed to be redone. The air conditioner sounded like it was on its last leg.
It was an awesome much needed getaway for both my husband and I. Such a peaceful serene setting nestled in Mission Bay. It was perfect. Rooms were always nice and clean, the property itself is kept I pristine condition despite the wildlife, aka birds. Would recommend it to anyone whether young or old single or with a family this place is AWESOME!
I can bring my Hobiecat right on the beach in front of my room. Bon fires on the beach at night. House keeping didn't show up on the second day. No coffee no shampoo The hotel is on the beach so you go thru a lot of towels.
The accommodation/rooms need to be refreshed the rooms look old and not well kept. This is not a four star resort and the price is too high.
Grounds, room was big, location Felt like i paid a little more than it should have been, for a non water view room
The staff was very friendly and accommodating in every way. The grounds were really nice and relaxing. You do get hit with an excessive parking fee, which I find weird since the hotel owns the whole area. The rooms could use a little bit more TLC (better cleaning, spiderwebs, and bugs in room). Our outside chairs were beyond filthy, sitting in them would have left our clothes stained in dirt/filth. Beds were okay comfort wise. Any issues brought up to the staff was quickly and generously remedied.
