the athmosphere I had a double room which was evidently a converted single very small no easy chair, insufficient room for clothes and luggage
The food was excellent, the staff most helpfull. The first room offered was very very poor ,we had to pay extra to get an half decent room
Very nice Hotel. Easy access to public transport. Dealing of staff is very good. If i would visit London again, would definitely prefer to stay there.
The very large bathroom & close proximity to tube station. Upon first arrival we were given very small room on smoking floor, so we changed.
The size of the Junior suite was wonderful! The room was a little old and had some cracks in the wall joints. They didn't have any pull in area if you arrive by car. We weren't aware of this from the descriptions and had to drive around the area to find a parking garage and then roll our luggage a few blocks to the hotel.
simply the way in which the staff treated us with so much respect, after we had a couple of problems with our room to start with, they showed alot of kindness, booked us into a different hotel for the first night, free of charge, and then upgraded us to a lovely room for our second night stay in london, we felt very well looked after.
Hotel room was warm and comfortable, as the weekend weather was poor it was nice to get back to an inviting room. Delay in breakfast - although once we got fed it was great.
The hotel has an excellent location and a very nice atmosphere. I also enjoyed the restaurant recommendations made by the concierge. The room was a bit noísy (I lived on the second floor).
the three consierge gentlemen we spoke to were very helpful Staff maybe might smile. If applicable make sure you get your Harrods voucher. We had to ask even though it was included in our package.
big bathroom and unique decoration of the room. there was no fridge and safe box in the room. there is no concierge most of the time. staff are not professional.
Nice blend of modern facilities ina traditional building. Quiet, comfortable room and everything just a cut above hotels at a similar price in the area.
Very out dated in need of refurb. no AC too hot room service food very
A designer hotel without the expensive price tag. Excellent breakfast and staff
This was my second stay at this hotel. I stay in Bloomsbury twice a year for business and usually stay at the Morgan Hotel. My first visit was not great. I was not recognized as a gold member while there and was given a pretty small but nicely appt. room. I had not planned on going back but there was a good deal on Agoda for a suite and so I thought I would give them another try. The room was fabulous! Room service was perfect with excellent customer service. The customer service except for a few blips here and there was very good. Just lovely all they way around and now I will look forward to staying there again in the future. I was checked in by a very nice woman who talked so lightly that I had to ask her to repeat things. She also did not handle my credit card correctly and so I ended up not being able to charge to my room--slight inconvenience--not terrible. I had a business call that got cut off and the switchboard kept connecting my party to the wrong hotel--more problematic. The breakfast wait staff was not very good. I had to get up from my table to chase them down for a cup of coffee. The basically seat you and then do not attend to you there after. The dinner food was quite good the breakfast is not worth the 21 pounds. Next time I will probably go out for breakfast.
The location and the cleanliness are factors which lead me to book, in supplement I experienced an extraordinary friendly staff. Furthermore I adore the hotel's mixture of traditional and new barock style. It was tropically hot in our room. There is no air-condition in this hotel. The window was to small to let efficiently enough fresh air into the room (temperature outside like 17°). They provided a fan, but I'm a type of person who catches a cold when I'm sleeping with a fan directed at me. Due to this I had remarkable troubles to get to sleep.
The location was superb! One minute walking distance from Oxford street and five minute to Covent Gardens. As central can be, two minutes walk to the Tottenham Rd Tube Station, shopping area, eateries, books and more.
practical for my reason visiting London. have stayed a umber of times. Lighting in the bedroom. No bedside lights. Overhead light too strong. Room was cold
Everyone work this hotel are very nice understanding very clean hotel the breakfast was very good and it's close to everywhere you wanna visite in London ) they are very friendly employees They help you for everything you need to know in London don't forget to meet this guy nam Koego his is the cool us guy I over meet with his co worker at the front desk price was so good to for London hotel price I like it and I love it the Best hotel ever in London thanks you for everyone who work there
The staff were brilliant Needs Air Con
Very central to all our needs.
Location of hotel was great. Oxford Street, Restaurants,Theatres and Tube station, all within 5 minute walk. Hotel very comfortable. Staff very helpful.
Spacious and comfortable. Quiet; good breakfast.
Central position for Theatres etc
We liked the modern decor. Our room was facing the road and was extremly noisy.
Excellent location, nicely renovated, modern hotel We stayed at the end of November and it was exceptionally cold in London. The hotel room was cold and the heater made terrible noise, but had to be on all the time. No heating in the otherwise beautiful bathroom.
The TV Breakfast issues No knowlege of local area Language barriers
Facilities and location
The upgrade to a superb room on the top floor - couldn't fault it unless that was the deluxe double that had been originally booked. Excellent hotel and well placed for business meetings in the City.
The size of the room - very spacious Not applicable
I found the location perfect for sightseeing. The room was very nice and as a venue is was very good also. Food was excellent:-) I was a shame I wasn't able to access the internet. The solution you have chosen at the hotel did not work for me as my company (banking) apparently have restrictions which make it impossible to lock on to a web browser before the internet access is given...
Staff is very very kind, cleaning is not the best inside the whole structure, but inside our room is basically good. Some very little I repeat very little details that make the difference for this very high level hotel: the holder for hygenic paper was broken, the hairdryer tubular was rapaired with insulating tape and for this reason it was a little sticky, the bath tub had very little splinterings on edge, the window was stopped with a piece of folded paper and in conclusion the tv controller had not the cover for the batteries and it was replaced with a certainly sticky coloured tape .
Great location for shopping and the theatres and most of the main sites to see. Also had a great breakfast. Size of the room could have been larger for the price paid.
A very clean and luxurious designer hotel. Great food. Very helpful and pleasant staff. The room was a little cramped. Desk was too big for the room. Feel the room could be bigger for a Superior room.
easy access to londons attractions
Perfect location because of walking distance to major shoppping streets and Covent Garden/Leicester Square. Good concierge services. Housekeeping started cleaning round 9 am, the noise from the hall and nearby rooms woke me up every morning. Obviously paying for location and not room size. Air-conditioning makes considerable noise.
it was central for my needs, and all staff were very helpful on all points. problems getting a six seater taxi service.
The hotel exceeded our expectations. It was beautiful, clean and stylish, it even had fragrance oils in every corner so it smelled like heaven. The double bed room was relatively small but has everything one might need. Bathroom was big, beautiful and luxurious with boutique soup collection. The housekeeping was exceptional, the room was cleaned twice a day and little treats like chocolate was left for us once a day. Loved it!
Comfortable bed, large bathtub (with shower attachment), quiet, good temperature control, good location, friendly staff. The room was pretty small, but it was adequate. Even at the discounted Kayak price, it was expensive, but the value for money was still high.
The Location. All theatres in walking distance, lots of restaurants and Soho shops. Close to underground. The rooms are really small (I am British). Minimal mini bar and hopeless main bar. Remote control did not work, tissue box empty. Dissapointing room service menu. So although it looked the part, I was very dissapointed, not value for money
The helpful from the staff who able to allocate a room for my very early check-in. A room is assigned which is a disable room. However, this is not the same expectation when I book a 'Superior Double Room'. I have not asked for a change as I have a very busy schedule during my stay in London.
Stayed 7 nights and really enjoyed the hotel. Room was very nice. Bed very comfortable. The staff are very professional and helpful. Concierge desk was very good helping out with any questions. Loved location near British museum and nice area close to Oxford St. and Soho. Very close to hop off on buses for getting around to tourist sites. Nothing.
Excellent service, cute rooms (small, but as expected), wonderful marble bath. Turn down service includes chocolates! In a convenient area, not far from the Tube.
Good restaurant, nice building, clean. No hot water, only luke water. When problems ocurred during extending my stay, different solutions were promised by different persons, no promises were kept though.
Not much just a city hotel
Good size room Renovating the place, no heating in room
The staff was exceptional...friendly and helpful....willing to go out of their way to assist. Would stay there again. Gym was excellent and the breakfast was very good.....breakfast was available until 11AM on weekends. Met all our needs.
We arrived to the builders in reception..complete with hard hats and hard viz jackets! There had been no mention of the major refurb going on when booking. I'm sure it will be very nice when finished, but not really the first thing you want to see when entering your hotel.. I'd received a call the day before check-in to see if my booking for two colleagues double rooms (for single occupancy) could be changed to single rooms - I said not, particularly as payment was immediately taken from my card two/three weeks before on booking and the rooms were for business clients. Although I was then told 'ok..not a problem..' this was ignored...and they were put in to single rooms on arrival!
The hotel staff was helpful with solving problems that was generated by Kayak/Hotel.com (wrong number of beds in room) while booking. Location is excellent. For a big family like us that needs place to "gather" together the lobby was very useful. Booking by Kayak/Hotel.com generated problems. Number of adults and children per room was not deliver to the hotel. When I asked Hotel.com to change the reservation through the website , NO respond. Rooms are a bit small.
location for theatre and access to transport system obviously unavoidable but there was some building work taking place to the hotel
Location is great. Bed was fine and apples were a nice touch. Gym was okay. Staff was horrible. There were months in the closet--I killed three. They did a lousy job cleaning in general. The sinks and counters were not even wiped down. There was toothpaste/grim residue not wiped up half of the days I stayed there. Dirty dishes owned by the Hilton were left for, literally, a week. The cleaning staff tossed my water bottle even though it was with wrapped up my clothes on top of my luggage and then denied it. I tried to explain the problem with needing a size of plastic bottle for security. They made a lame attempt to make it right after two hours of waiting and complaining, but they could not be bothered to listen or understand the actual problem, so the solution did not work. Great location, but I would never go back. There is no accountability.
Location of hotel for bars, restaurants and shopping all available within walking distance. Room clean and spacious compared to other London hotels I have stayed in. The fact that there was building work in progress and scaffolding in situe which I understand from reviews on other sites has been going on for quite a while at this hotel.
Hotel is clean and comfortable. Rooms are well appointed. Location is superb. Good value for money in a city renowned for overpriced hotels. Check-out was a bit haphazard, otherwise no complaints
Common areas were fine. Breakfast quite good. Location very good. Staff quite helpful. Asked for extra hangers and received them promptly. Good curtains in room (for blocking out light). Useful kettle and tea supplies. The room and bathroom were very very small, with hardly any room to move about. Shabby (and very few) towels. Hardly any toileteries (tiny soap). Cheap looking room; nice linen but low-end pillows and mattresses. Ongoing hotel refurbishing (not previously mentioned) caused cirucuitouts route to room and some noise. 2 days out of 5 no delivery of newspaper which had been ordered. (Although concierge did bring it after it was mentioned).
Breakfast service is very nice. The room was extremely small, poorly furnished and noisy.
Location was convenient Was cold, old and dirty
access to city centre
I loved the central location,Excellent for a short stay
Nice amenities. Great location. Air conditioning never cooled room completely during a warm spell.
V friendly staff Too hot !
Hotel convenient for tube and acces to London The hotel was being revamped - lift inadequate. Heating did not work. Staff coped as best they could
Location was very good A little expensive for what it was...
The staff at all levels were friendly, helpful and courteous. Excellent Dark and small rooms. I would not have stayed had I realised the huge amount of refurbishment going on.
The location was excellent. I work in holborn and was easily able to walk in. Covent garden very close. The attitude of the staff when the boiler failed. Discourteous and off hand. Almost made me feel that it was my fault. No offer of complimentary breakfast, reduced rate. Not even an apology
The rooms were very nice and well equipped. Based only on this, I would stay here again. The renovations were very intrusive. No elevator access, except through a service elevator, which was always jammed at peak times. No stairs access below the 1st floor, which besides being inconvenient, made me wonder about safety in a fire. No hot water on the second day was literally "icing" on the cake. I have to remember that eventually the renovations will be complete, so I actually might give this place another shot.
Good location. Excellent air conditioning. The room had a strong smell of disinfectant / air freshener. The shower did not work.
design of room was good (tastefully decorated). Bed/linen very adequate Boiler broke down on 26.11.10 and no hot water for shower or even a wash...only gave 10% discount for inconvenience . Also.. lift not working (had to use staff lift the corridors/reception was a building site...there were no stairs to 1st floor and could not establish where the fire excape was (and staff could not provide that information) Breakfasts were not included in tariff
Friendly staff with a clean and comfortable room.
Location. Location. Helpful and pleasant staff. Cold room in morning. Too few lifts. Lack of TV channels.
Concierge people are very nice. Single room has no place for luggage
very central fantastic location.
Very over priced
Spent about a week in London and stayed at the St. Giles. No regrets. Close to the West End action and much cheaper than some in the area. This hotel is also frequented by bus tours - Ugh. The room was good though small (almost Japanese hotel room small). We did not partake of their restaurants and went to a much, much better buffet down the street for breakfast. Concierge staff was very helpful
Access to tube trains This hotel is not a star hotel. Rooms are very small
Location and cleanliness are the only positives about my stay. Poorly operating lifts. Bathroom so small. TV inoperable. WiFi requires £5 payment daily by purchasing a code from a vending machine. Long lines at check in. Long line at luggage check/collection. Never again!
A nice complimentary breakfast the following day. We booked a table for 4 in the hotel's Italian restaurant for Saturday 27/11/10 at 5pm in order for us to attend a show. When we were ready to eat we were told that we didn't have a reservation as this restaurant did not open on a Saturday night. We were however placed in your Japanese restaurant without too much bother. Better communication with guests would be better.
we had a great visit. The staff was impeccably polite and helpful. the elevator situation was pretty bad. I don't know if some of the lifts weren't functioning or what, but we ended up taking the stairs most of the time
location was fantastic no
location choice of food in restaurant
The hotel is in a good spot, next to oxford street. breakfast was an extra £9.95 each per day.
Good location, a little shabby but clean and walm (November visit).Good value for London and excellent location for tube and central london. Friendly and helpful staff.
Excellent location, very central. The hotel is very run down, the rooms could do with being freshened up. The bathroom ceiling was ready to fall in from the room above. The hotel decor is very dated which is a shame as it could be lovely. The price is based on location and not on hotel experience
the breakfast small room cramped
nice and quiet place to stay and rest after a long working day not really
location ... the first night was horrible, the bed was super uncomfortable, next day we asked to be change to another room and it was so much better... but rooms do definetly need remodelating...
Fantastic location very close to Tottenham Court Road Tube and Oxford Street Room was tatty (broken shelf in bathroom, side of bath all cracked)
The central location very near British Museum The staff
The friendliness of the staff (with one exception) was second to none - they helped make it a very pleasant stay The hotel rooms were very small and the service obtained during a problem with a broken shower was sub-standard for the price - when informed that a shower has broken and flooded a bathroom it shouldn't take a visit to reception and 2 phonecalls to get someone to come to the room. I then wouldn't expect the staff to have no idea what to do about it and have to make suggestions myself as to how it can be resolved! Breakfast-time was chaos. Proximity to smoking rooms meant that the corridor had a permanent smell of stale smoke which was most unpleasant to walk through
Cheap hotel in a great location. Blocks away from tube stop and British museum. Clean room, nice bathroom. Very small bedroom (smaller than pics depict, but not too bad). Overall a good stay, staff were really polite. WiFi was broken for 2 nights which was very frustrating. Check out was at 11:00am, and if you want to keep bags later in the day, they charge you something like 5 pounds per bag, per hour.
It was a bed to sleep in. Decent location. For the most part, the staff was rude and unhelpful. Rooms were quite unpleasant and if you're staying on the top floor, there's barely a wifi signal, if any at all. I was here on business so that made it very difficult and they didn't seem to care at all. Maybe if you only stay there for one night it would be okay but for as much as I paid I was very dissatisfied with the service and the overall experience.
The location is excellent right in the centre and 1 minute away from the underground and Oxford Street. It is more like a guest house, not one of those hotels with hundreds of rooms so it felt quite like a home The room was tiny and the double bed was not really a double bed but a 1.5 bed. One side was pushed against a wall meaning only one person had a bedside table and the person on the inside had to crawl over the other person to get to the loo in the middle of the night. The room door, bathroom door and wardrobe door all opened on the same square foot in the room making it impossible for someone to come out of the bathroom while the other was getting something out of the wardrobe
Excellent location: quiet street, but walking distance from British Museum, West-End Theatres, Soho, and even the City highlights. Staff are most friendly and customer-oriented! We experienced a nightly fire-alarm, which wasn't fun, but there was no fire in the end, and the staff handled this very well! Good restaurant, fine wine list. Rooms are nicely decorated, but small. Breakfast far too expensive!
We were upgraded to a really excellent room.
This hotel was simply excellent!
The best affortable hotel in London in my opinion. Perfect location to visit and shop. Free wifi in the rooms. Rooms are small but so cosy.
very friendly and helpful staff. room was very nicely decorated and excellent facilities
What a gem of a hotel a superb find. From the moment we arrived to the moment we departed we felt special. The staff were outstanding, their eye for detail the friendliness. We own a group of companies employing many people and was well impressed with the high standard that was set.Needless to say we will return and recomend this hotel.well done staff Yes.We didnt stop for more than two nights
Excellent location. Tiny but cozy room with a good noice reduction. Small size of rooms.
Close to all attractions, lovely and quiet, very clean, nice staff
Quality of staff rooms too small
very pleasant stay, just right for the theatre and the shops!
Location My room
The service was very good and SKY rugby was a bonus! The room could have been bigger and the air-con was a bit noisy.
The Hotel was an excellent location for Covent Gardens only 5 mins walk dow the road. The staff were excellent couldnt do enough for you ven upgraded our room for free. Would def return. There was nothing we didnt like, the breakfast was lovely, hotel was so clean and the staff were Fantastic.
Excellent breakfast buffet included in room rates. Hotel staff are attentive and helpful. Scoff & Banter restaurant/bar has limited dinner menu and cocktail options.
Location Slow lifts
The attention to any and all details was excellent. The staff in both the front and the restaurant were very friendly and helpful. Nothing
The location, very quiet, relax. The spacios of me beedrom was little
Location and comfort of room. Bathroom was decent size.
The location and cost Rooms are very small, though are typical for London. Room was on a very very noisy road and difficult to sleep
Location and friendly, informative staff
Rooms are hot and small.
Good quality fitments Small room
Good location Small rooms with tiny bathrooms - adequate for a single traveler on business with no luggage but not a Five star hotel and nothing like the pictures on the website.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable with tea and coffee making facilities. The bathroom was very small but that didn't really bother us. Despite the double glazing and being on the ninth floor, we heard the noise of the traffic all night.
Staff was very nice and helpful. The swimming pool is big, facilities are clean. The room was not big but sufficient for a familly with 2 kids. The bathroom was clean, with a bathtube but the w.c. inside. The breakfast was delicious, but a bit expensive. A pity that the swimming pool has restricted hours for kids when you have kids but it must be appreciated for those who have not.
The room was a good size, nicely decorated, clean. Facilites included TV, stereo, air conditioning which is very important. Bathroom clean with nice toiletries.
The staff are extremely helpful and location is excellent. The television selection is poor and internet costs far too much.
Staff were very friendly and prompt Room was noisy being on the main road at a junction. I think if two people had been in the room there would have been a lack of space around the bed area as it was a funny shaped room.
The staff were absolutely first class from the moment we walked through the door from the booking in people at reception, the bar staff and chambermaids.excellent No complaints
Helpful and friendly staff.
Location of hotel was fairly near the tube station and other faciltites nearby When I checked inot the hotel, I had to wait a long time whilst they were checking my booking.I Needed an extra bed and they offered to upgrade me to a family suite afor another 103.50pounds. They then charged me 724.50 for the 3 nights stay.I Realised later that they had overcharged me by 10 pounds because the original booking was 611 pounds. When I queried them the next day,I had to go through 2 other staff before they refunded me 10 pounds overcharge. I hope I have not been billed twice ie once by my initial booking through your website and then by the Grange Holborn hotel.
great location, nice breakfast, helpful staff, ensuite rooms very noisy (room facing Gower Street), windows not well sealed, carpet and drapes seem a bit dirty.
Hotel Cavendish is typical for the line of hotels of this type in this part of London. Smallish rooms, small bathrooms, no elevator, breakfast served downstairs. Exactly what you'd expect if you had stayed in this type of hotel before. Staff was nice and friendly, but... But you also get what you pay for. This hotel's price was lower than the surrounding hotels and it was appropriate. Clean and nice, but not very well maintained. Our room had curtains missing half of their hooks, the breakfast was served with instant coffee in a french press. Nothing bad, but not a bit elegant. So appropriate value for the money. Because of this I would happily stay here again, but don't expect the Savoy.
Location, breakfast, friendly staff, wireless internet Room was ridiculously small. Pathetic, really, given the price (average of 80 pounds per night). Good only if staying for a couple of days. The water pump/pipes are amazingly noisy. Every time you or your neighbour use the bathroom a disturbing sound comes from the bowels of the hotel. Finally, the walls are so thin that you can hear coughing, sneezing and yawning from the rooms next door.
lovely staff room was a nice size. the room was supposed to be a double when infact it was 2 single beds pushed together that kept moving apart during the night.
Location, location, location. Location was great. Staff were very friendly. As a single woman traveller, I felt very safe at this property. Great breakfast. Single room was very small but functional and clean.
The breakfast was good The noise from traffic outside. Hotel was on a main road.
Nice breakfast room very small room
Ease of booking in. Occasional noise from people going to breakfast.
warm ok room small bed dining room far too small had to wait for breakfast and although breakfast small ok but 1 day only had 1\2 a sausage
Staff were friendly and breakfast was very good. Stair carpet was rather worn
Clean, comfortable, staff attentive. The TV was in a world of its own, the remote was scrambled and no instructions to sort it out.
None. The quality of this hotel was awful.
You get what you pay for I wish I had more money for a better hotel
The Location was great , 10min walk , right into Oxford street, under grounds etc. Breakfast was ok, value for money. Very poor toilet / bath room s, only only one toilet / shower per 8 rooms. Need more toilets / showers , very basic in side. The bathrooms / showers , only one toilet & shower to every 8 rooms , need more of these , for the amount of people staying their. I had to wait 25 mins to go to the toilet ?
Central Too small!
I liked the location. it's close to Euston station and about 15 minutes walk to the centre point and British museum I didn't like the behaviour of the kitchen staff. Their English was poor and they were rude in treating me when i asked them about more bread. Also, they don't care about customers' needs.
At least it was clean No shower or bath. Had to share a loo!! (First time in 40 years!) Room below pavement level. Very thin walls. Should have left immediately but it was very late when I saw all this.
I was able to book a room near to Euston station after being stranded due to all trains being canceled. Bed was comfortable. Poor condition of room - door would not lock, dirty curtains, cupboards falling apart, TV was working but reception was noisy on all channels. Noise from other residents. Did not attempt breakfast. Poor reception staff (one occasional overwhelmed person).
It was clean , and warm. The number of shared bathrooms to rooms iks not made obvious enough in the description
location was ideal, staff were pleasant and room was basic but clean.
It was very close to the metro station, and it was in the centre of London. The bathroom was poor, and the toilet didn't work. The breakfast was the same each day.
I like the breakfast most. The triple room is too small, but since I stayed there only one night, it's ok for me.
