Easy to reach. Good parking facilities. Acceptable walking distance to city center. Some (acceptabel!!) noise from the nearby roads and the Mac Donalds drive in.
the price is perfect and the hotel is very nice , free parking , good breakfast
great value for money. helpful staff. lovely rooms. outside the town walls but only a couple of minutes in a taxi.
The reception staff were excellent, the room was great and the breakfast was excellent. I found it difficult to find the hotel because the sign is difficult to read froma distance.
Location close to the city
Very clean and comfortable rooms Very bad neighbor hood when u walk to downtown. I felt so lucky when I get to the hotel safely.
Clean and modern hotel few kms from old centre of Lucca. Very convenient if you are with a car because there are parking facilities and it is close to the Autostrada.Good room and good breakfast
Excellent reception staff. Comfortable bed. Very poor breakfast. Thin ersatz juice; hot drinks from a machine; stale croissant. I understand that Italians are not very interested in breakfast but most of those having breakfast were Northern Europeans.Have a smaller choice of top quality food. No adult I know eats coco pops or. Having stale croissants is unforgivable. Satsumas are in season and excellent, why not offer those? One person went up and down the food area, I imagine desperately trying to find something tasty. She settled for a glass of water and a piece of fruit. The previous night we'd stayed in a B&B in Siena and they managed to serve an excellent breakfast. We got a knock down price for the room but had we paid the displayed prices we would have been very un
best room, bathroom & breakfast. you can take lazzi bus near the hotel direct to piza.
It's located on a main junction but you do not hear the road It has a very good variety in breakfast A card that is also the key to the room operates electricity If one of 2 persons is out with it the other in the room is left in the dark
The Manager and his staff were all incredibly friendly and helpful. We didn't book half-board, however we had our evening meal in the restaurant attached to the hotel every night except one as the food was superb and again the staff were excellent.
Very good value, clean, comfortable.
Good location for visiting the nearby towns and countryside - for Lucca you can take a bus nearby the hotel ( 08:20 a.m ) - rooms at the back with balcony and very quiet - good restaurant
Beautiful location just outside Lucca. We rode bikes and walked in the wonderful Tuscan country. The restaurant was a nice meeting place in the evenings. The breakfast was very nice with cereals, meats, cheese, croissants, yogurts, fresh fruit. There is a nice pool to dip into in the afternoon. The staff was very courteous and eager to help in any way.
Breakfast was excellent, pool was a nice feature that needed to have the rest of the patio further developed. Inadequate provision of high chairs and cots for infants. One cot for the whole hotel and no high chairs.
It was a disappointment due to the fact that it did not match photos - a roadside location with very little Tuscan countryside. Restaurant also disappointed, walled in and did not match the culinary offerings of the area
We loved our stay at Hotel Carignano! The room was lovely and the staff were pleasant, meeting our every need. We loved the restaurant as it was charming with wonderful staff who spoke English. In fact the menu was in Italian, German and English! A real bonus when you have allergies. I wish we could have stayed longer to relax more and explore the lovely countryside and the town of Lucca. The swimming pool on the website does not look like the pool that is actually on site.
The location in the countryside, friendly hotel reception staff and excellent breakfast. Location of the room: we were expecting a room with a view not a blank wall. Unprofessional manner in which a complaint was dealt with by the restaurant manager. Unwelcoming senior restaurant staff.
Great service and breakfast. Noisless place and bedroom.
restaraunt, setting, staff, great place overall - would go back definitely plug sockets for connecting electrical stuff not so good - too few and different sizes
The friendly staff and self service food and drink facilities
The staff at reception were exceptionally helpful. And the location was fabulous.
It was quiet, comfortable and close to the city centre and railway station One morning the breakfast buffet had been depleted by a large group and even though it was open for another 1.5 hours there was little effort to replenish it and the selection available was poor.
Please write at least 15 words. O like to stay here and I will come with family in the future. Also I will inform my friends The business centre need to be provided. I really need this facility including computers and internets
The Staff was very helpful. The 24 hour free refreshment bar was an excellant touch. The location was excellent for walking in the walls of Lucca. Free bikes to ride around town were fun to use.
the staff were great made effort to solve problems when they could. great location good breakfast to start the day. great ambience when we were there the weather perfect beautiful greenery fun to have a glass of wine before venturing out don't get assigned to room101 because you will be up at 5:30 while they are in the process of preparing your breakfast. the clients should be a little more careful when leaving the rooms door slamming can be irritating
The Hotel Ilaria was lovely, and our family of four had absolutely no complaints. Our two rooms were clean and exceptionally appointed, and one was accessible to a lovely private patio available to rooms on the same side of the hall. Although it was hot (July), the air conditioning system worked flawlessly in both rooms. The breakfast buffet, which was served in a lovely canopied sunroom, included an extensive selection of both hot and cold foods, breads, juices, fresh fruits and meats. Every single staff member we encountered was helpful and friendly, and the front desk staff member recommended an excellent restaurant for dinner (and kindly made reservations for us) on our first night in Lucca. Since parking is at a premium within walls of Lucca, the fact that this hotel could offer an onsite parking space for our car was a key benefit. We would recommend the Hotel Ilaria highly and would choose it again when visiting Lucca. Not at all.
Excellent location within the walls of Lucca and on-site free parking. Afternoon "snacks" and drinks in the lobby. Helpful staff. Comfortable rooms. Mediocre breakfast (good pastries but cold eggs, mediocre buffet and poor coffee!)
Very comfortable - central within old town of Lucca - easy to get to by car - hotel parking
The amazing views from the garden. No.
Convenient to all the major sights and restaurants within easy walking distance. We walked too and from the train station...although easier to go to the station than initially to the hotel. You will have to carry bags up the rampart on going, but all down hill on departure. The hotel staff was most helpful, made several dinner reservations and we were always greeted with a smile and good day. The morning breakfast was delicious and a great way to start the day of sightseeing with a hearty breakfast. Nothing and I would book once again during future visits to Lucca.
Poor breakfast room - badly arranged tables. People queueing to get a table. Constant noise of running water next to Room 3.
Friendly, welcoming staff. Good service. Conveniently situated within easy walking distance of Old Town. Good parking on site.
It was difficult to reach the city with a buggy, no footpath. You either had to cross the very congested circonvallazione or go through an area with no footpaths..it was extremely dangerous.
proximity to city center, and to motorway, although busy road was noisy all day. busy road
Really a nice inexpensive hotel, but close in to Lucca Not really
The breakfast was excelent.Great choice of food, from hardboiled eggs to cappucino to fruit and granola. The hotel is not 500 meters to the center as advertised .It is a long walk from the train station(15 minutes or more in a deserted area behind the train area esp when you don't know the surroundings and schlepping bags )No phone in room,in case of emergency.Front desk reluctant to give us a nonsmoking room at first ,then they checked for availability and we got the non smoking room.In a contininent of smokers ,I was surprised there woud not be non smoking available. Most of their guests were European.Very noisy at night, next to a busy main road.
The friendly and superb service of the hotel staff. This exceeded all our expectations. Parking was excellent, and walking access into town and station was easy once the route was shown. We even obtained 10% discount at two superb nearby restaurants thanks to the staff.
The hotel staff were particualrly friendly and seemed to go out of their way to be helpful. No
Friendly welcome, car parking and easy walk into town
5 min (by car) to city center. Modern and up to date looking. Spacious room. Good free parking. Free internet was very welcome. (You will need to bring along your own laptop though)
staff. room . location.
The fact that we can open the windows Uncommon for Italy hotel, carpet on the floor in the room instead of tiles.
location: very near to city centre yet spacious grounds;very cimfortable room; extremely courteous staff nothing
Very good average hotel
Very nice hotel - stayed here 2 days. Good staff - rooms very nice. Great showers -
It is a good class hotel of international standard. Very comfortable bed, clean room, good and friendly staff. I stayed 1 night on the way to Piza and would stay again.
All staff extremely helpful and very good service.
Staff is friendly and helpfull. Our rooms were large and confortable. Although the rooms are quite comfortable and well equiped their decoration is somewhat gloomy.
It was a little further from Lucca center than I expected. There was nothing else nearby, unless you drove there (ie; restaurants).
Very hospitable staff, clean and newly refurbished rooms. Excellent for travellers with own car close to Lucca and other palces to visit.
Suite ws v. good. Description said it was on ramparts of Lucca - it was 3 miles away from ramparts. No coffee/tea in room.
Location excellent for pondering around Lucca (and getting lost!!!)which was all part of the fun. we were in a very warm room - the manager moved us as soon as we told him. The staff could not have been more helpful, with travel information and booking restaurants. Always had time to help. We enjoyed our stay Lucca is lovely. ( we are two mature couples ) Also the wine is wonderful and we tried some very good bottles, dining also very good, with a wide choice of restaurants. We would go back . Breakfast was average - but acceptable.
There was a traditional feel to the room and the staff were always most helpful with any queries. Breakfast in the breakfast room was also very pleasant. There were a couple of minor points about the room that needed attention - eg some of the parquetry floor was lifting which could catch your feet.
The location is close to restraunts and shopping. It is quite a walk from the train station. Take a cab. The electricity and plumbing are old and don't work well. It was extremely hot and too loud to sleep with the window open. They said we couldn't turn on the air conditioning and didn't offer a fan. We were up all night hearing the people above us. The complimentary breakfast gave us food poisoning.
Beautiful & snug hotel situated in the centre, very helpful staff! Lack of inside isolation, you can hear guests next door whispering.
The staff waw very helpful and friendly. They made our stay in Lucca a wonderful experience.
We had an overnight stay at this hotel.Very helpful staff.Central location.Very good breakfast.Would stay here again.
Location is ideal for exploring Lucca-close to historic centre, restaurants, etc., but in a quiet street away from noise. Staff are excellent- called different restaurants to arrange for dinner reservations tho I had left it too late- going out of their way to deal with requests. Hotel is charming, breakfast is substantial. I was in a single room that was for disabled guests and had some features in the bathroom that were inconvenent- no self-contained shower stall-only a tiled area next to the toilet- that made for a wet floor. wheelchair users would appreciate this but i didn't. No towel racks either-maid used the hand rail for the toilet to hang towels. These are minor issues that can be easily rectified.
Mario the business owner was beyond friendly, efficient and informative. Breakfasts were feasts of hot and cold food well beyond the usual continental breakfast. An elevator was also a welcome surprise in this old palazzo.
Quiet location. Charming proprietors.Well fitted out
We found the staff friendly and helpful directing us to several good restaurants, the room was very comfortable and breakfast excellent.
Attentive and very polite staff plus the sensibly long hours for breakfast. The location meant we could reach all parts easily but not have a lot of noise In an ideal world would have liked larger bathroom and wider single beds
The warmth of the welcome we recieved on arrival. the cleanliness of the hotel, it had been refurbished to the highest of standards. nothing was to much trouble for the staff, we loved our stay.we have told all our friends and family about this first class hotel and showed them all the brochure. we will definately be back. no
Excellent location. Staff very nice to us, helpful and accomodating This is a charming building, slightly tatty hotel.
Friendly, very helpful staff. Central location.
Its central location in Lucca and easy acces to trains and buses
It's location and ambience
location room in need of decoration and poor air conditioning.night noise level from square/early morning.
The front office manager (during the day) - was exceptionally friendly and helpful - He upgraded us to a luxury room when we checked in, and was always very ready and willing to help with any questions we had during our stay. The room was beautifully decorated , large and comfortable. Well situated hotel - close to bus stops . Private parking was very useful .
The hotel is in a very good location in Lucca. Very close to the best restaurants and an easy walk to the main shopping street. Access is easy by car, however there is limited parking in the hotel car park. There is other parking within close distance. The breakfasts are very good. The lack of a restaurant in the hotel for lunch or evening meals is understandable given its proximity to numerous eating places. The hotel does however have a nice bar and also a small area outside for drinks during the day and evening. Lucca is a good base to stay for exploring the northern half of Tuscany and has many attractions of its own. No, everything was good.
No need to look any further this is Italy at its best. Huge rooms with beautiful furniture and the staff are really attentive withouit being obtrusive. The manager personally thanked us at the end of our stay and the breakfast delivered to the room was fabulous. The restaurant recomedations were super.
Fantastic hotel, excellent staff and great location. Lucca is easy to explore on foot from here.
Beautiful rooms, ideal location, very friendly helpful staff, excellent buffet breakfast. Complete luxury! Impossible to find fault with San Luca Palace.
The staff was fantastic! My wife commented that she wished she could have taken the older gentleman (greeter) home. He was that nice and sincerely friendly. Also, the location was great!
Very friendly and helpful staff, clean, confortable room. The hotel is very near the railway station, so not far to haul your luggage! Although the station is close by, you only hear the occasional train whistle. Great selection for breakfast. Only a short walk to the walls of Lucca, so you can get inside the city easily.
proximity to all facilities around Lucca
The hotel offered spacious, good value rooms in a very convenient location.
Good location right by station but pretty quiet. Easy to get to by car also. Helpful staff.
friendly and helful staff free use of bicycles good breakfast well situated for easy access to the station and the town
Very friendly staff, just outside city walls and next to train station.
Located right next to the staton but not at all noisy. Tea and coffee making facilities a real bonus. No issues at all
Staff Services & accommodations
Staff were extremely helpful and friendly. Possible to have a joke with them in our poor Italian! The rooms were attractive and the ambience was calming. A neighbour's dog which barked well into the night. This of course was not the hotel's fault. I just wonder whether other guests had a similar experience.
swimming pool, friendly staff
Staff were Fantastic,realy helpful!! No
The kindness of the staff and the opportunity to rent bikes Hardly anything to mention, however the bed was very hard
It was central to where we needed to be The room was basic though clean and the shower screen was falling off. There was no restaurant in the hotel and it is a good 10 min walk to the town.
good location for visiting Lucca town centre
Staff were great and the location was excellent for the city and facilities. Parking was easy. WiFi was not available in rooms as stated.
Extremely nice staff, very helpful. he hotel is just a very short walk from the ancient city walls. Parking is free and the pool area is nice to chill out. No dry white wine available (in Italy!), we've been bitten by insects, probably while sitting by the pool, breakfast could be better (like everywhere in Italy)
very close to old town, parking in front of hotel free and usually available, clean room...
Excellent location, very nice staff uncomfortable beds
Friendly staff. Nice room. Liked it all.
The central position in a city that we visit on every trip. The positive nature of the staff. Nothing
Central location Access to the separate block needed to be obtained by one of the staff pressing a button behind desk, so might as well have had to collect a room key.
the location was great. it was difficult to reach the hotel because it was in the middle of the centre but that was on the other hand an advantage
All the staff were friendly and helpful, in particular Lulu is the most friendly, pleasant and helpful receptionist you could ever wish to meet.
The central location was perfect for exploring Lucca and for shopping. Front of desk staff could have been more helpful - especially in relation to parking. I was left to struggle on my own to the garage.
Hotel la Luna was a great spot for our family vacation. The hotel is located in the heart of the city and was immaculate. The staff was helpful and friendly. They went out of their way to assist us with our needs.
it's very convenient and the staff were very helpful both times I've stayed there, I've not been on the ground floor, and had a heavy bag, some help getting it up the stairs would have been appreciated
The hotel was wonderful...location , staff ..the overall facility was a real treasure . We used it as a base for 3 days and will return. Everything was good
In the two weeks we spent in italy, this Hotel was the best! The charm and luxury of this hotel will bring us back. Wonderful breakfast!
I enjoyed the beautiful view offered by this villa nd the fact that it was quiet The heating system was a disaster. Only the bathroom and the halls were heated. I do not recommend thsi villa for automn and winter.
We liked the location of the Villa, it wasn't too close to the busy towns and noisy roads and because we had a car, it was easy to reach Lucca and Pisa. The restaurant has a wonderful dinner menu, we enjoyed it so much, we decided to eat at the Villa both nights rather than going out for dinner.
Fabulous location near wonderful Lucca and nearby Tuscan areas, including the coast, but in a beautiful, park-like setting with all the quiet, peacefulness and luxury of a country estate. The staff was extremely pleasant and helpful, very engaging. The accomodations, from our room to the bar in the afternoon, to breakfast each moerning, were flawless.
Location, the building - an old and beautiful old villa -, the park around - huge and pleanty of plants, the pool, the furniture inside .... everything, except one. Good food for dinner but not so many to order, good selection of wines - try the rose one - excelent deserts like ice-creme (one of the best ever eaten) and the chocolate trilogy. And do not forget the Schropini ... or ... whatever ... a mix of votka, lemon, ice cream and mint ... hmmmm, excelent. Breakfast it is a disaster !!!... we stayed 12 days and we had the same breakfast each and every day. No vegetables at all, no fresh cheese, the fruits not so fresh, take care on some aliments like packed pecorino cheese or pinaple compot which were almost not recommendable to be served. Ordinary round pie / cakes bought from supermarket ... everythink packed like an ordinar 2 stars tranzit hotel. Definetly the breakfast is not in line with the status of location. Oh, do not forget, I would not reccomend to anybody even to try once the scrumbled eggs prepared each and every day!
We were warmly welcomed by staff and management on our arrival, and from that day on, until our departure, service at all times (1.30pm on one occasion) was excellent - at Reception, in the Restaurant, by the Pool, on the Terrace or in the Drawing Room/Lounge (a really spacious beautiful room), there was always an attentive and considerate member of the hotel's team we could call on. It was not our first visit to Tuscany but our first to Lucca and the Puccini Festival, and Villa La Principessa was just a great place for us and contributed hugely to a truly memorable visit. We would certainly stay there again on any future visit to Lucca.
the staff and room were very good
The staff were very friendly and helpful
Friendly staff. Comfortable and quiet room. Very clean. Excellent buffet breakfast. Good location just outside city walls and five minutes walk from the station.
The breakfast, and being able to borrow bikes for free
Great location. The staff was very nice and informative. We'd stay there again.
Very nice staff, excellent breakfast in a lovely room. Although not applicable to us, ease of access with a car was a plus.
great location to the walled city breakfast was awful, room very small
The staff were very helpful and friendly would have liked a hot breakfast
I liked the short walk to the city center to where most of the restaurants were. It was also nice to have free parking at the hotel.
Friendly personnel, good breakfast, good location, value for money, good and friendly service, free parking
Hotel was spotless. Lovely backyard, although it was too cool to use. (1) There is no lift. (2) Also claimed to be across the street from an entrance into the walled city. However, this entrance was dark and uncomfortable to use and felt we had to use the main entrance which was some distance away. (3) Breakfast was less ample than other hotels in Italy.
A very welcoming hotel and very close to the centre of Lucca
Villa had large comfortable rooms and was spotlessly clean No
Villa Agnese offered me a bike to use during my stay in Lucca. This was especially helpful because the only way to see Lucca's historic center is by bike...its not mandatory but it is fantastic. The only thing I did not like is that the garden has no flowers. It is a back yard surrounded by trees....it should not be listed as a garden. but other than than it was nice.
Good location and lovelly old style villa.
the stay was great especially breakfast outside in the garden.
the warmth of the reception i got i wish i could get some basic thins like crisps and coke as everywhere were shut after 23;00hrs
The location was perfect, just five minutes walk to train station and within the city walls at the same time. The staff was very friendly. The room was simple but clean. The building was in a very bad condition. Needs to be renovated.
the owner was very nice, but not enough english, not her fault of course It was old and having renovations done and smelt very badly
We fell in love with Lucca, it's a beautiful place. Ann the landlady was very friendly and helpful The only problem we experienced was there were 3 flights of stairs and no lift, this was not mentioned on the Ad. We had 3-weeks worth of clothes in 3 large suitcases and it was a major struggle getting them up to our room. It wouldn't be a problem for people travelling light.
Very conveniently situated in Lucca, specially for the railway station and the town centre. Pleasantly cool in hot temperatures. Breakfast enjoyable. Management is very helpful. Its a small enclosed town and noise does reverberate, specially scooters.
Could not ask for more for this price
The owner and her daughter were very nice. We felt at home. It was conventiently located. We had a private bathroom and shower. No A/C, and because our window faced the street it was a bit noisy at night.
the lovely Anna was a wonderful hostess, the friendliness and the town of Lucca no lift
Anna and Sara Location Breakfast Lovely room None
The staff was wonderful, helping us with everything from wi fi connection, to the shortest route to the train station and even som excellent recommendations for area restaurants. The breakfast was also very nice. The location is excellent for those arriving by train.
Although breakfast was not included we had it our second day and it was really good, well worth it. Also liked that it was close to the train station. We were in the room with a balcony which was really lovely.
The Hotel is small and charming in a good location and the breakfast was good. The daily room cleaning was not good. Bed cover looked like it needed a wash, but bed linen was clean. Small things really but attention to detail would make this hotel a little gem
Great location and friendly staff. Breakfast was lovely and the food local. None
breakfast was quite nice, it is a quaint little hotel in a street not very easy to find, but once you are there, it is good for explaring the city. the hotel is clean and pleasant. there is no lift though so you have to lug your luggage up the narrow stairs.the staff is temperamental ranging from friendly to quite curt. rooms are cramped but the bathroom is decent for european standards. we booked a double room and the lady at the reception palmed off another room on us saying that we were not allowed by law to have four people in the room ( we were a family of four including a 23 month old and a 4 year old) we tried to reason with her to charge us for an extra person because our children wouldn't have slept in another room. she suggested instead that my husband should sleep with one child in one room and me with the second one in the other room. i think that she was just trying to pull a fast one on us.
would rate it higher if I could
Great flatscreen TV and airconditioning. Wonderful wireless service at no extra charge. Great breakfast. Friendly service. Look forward to returning next year. No elevator but this is common for Italy.
Wonderful location. Cheerful staff. Clean & charming fresh ample breakfast!
Location is perfect, just inside the town walls, near the Cathedral and a short walk from the train station. Very helpful staff.
Friendly and very helpful staff. Nice, small hotel with personal service and very good location. Highly recommended! I will certainly stay there again if I go to Lucca.
The folks at the hotel were very welcoming and friendly. They were helpful in providing information and arranging taxis. Our room had a balcony with a lovely canopy of flowers. Breakfast was great.
The location inside the city wall was easy to access and the small hotel was charming.
The staff were friendly and helpful. The room was clean and it was tastefully decorated. Had a difficult time looking for the location of the hotel as we arrived late at night. We had no cell phone so we had a problem to contact the staff regarding the keys to get inside.
friendly staff, distance to the city
The proprietors, Daniele and Gabriele, are professional, generous, and eager to do anything and everything to make a guest feel comfortable and at home. From providing routing and dining advice, to making me feel comfortable operating the professional espresso machine in the breakfast room, the "you're in good hands" expression would apply. The room was totally comfortable and livable, the bathroom clean - and there was free parking, which for Lucca is a real boon. The location is convenient to the city, if just outside the south wall -- this worked well for us. The immediate neighborhood of the B&B was not luxurious but it was quite safe and easy to negotiate.
The room was large (the bathroom also) and clean. The breakfast was simple, but all right. The owner was professional and very helpful.
We had a large comfortable room with a fridge. The B&B is in a safe area just outide the walls and a short stroll to the centre. There is an excellent, good value restaurant / pizzeria just around the corner and a supermarket nearby. The owners were very helpful. No complaints whatsoever.
The location to the city center. Hotel is very clean. There is no charm to the facility. Towels are terrible and amenities are scarce. Location to the train station is not walking distance and there are few sidewalks between the train station and the hotel. Limited hours for check-in are very restrictive. No phone in room.
Good sized room comfortable room, great breakfast in a really nicely laid out room. One of the best and most helpful welcomes we have ever had in Italy. This is a hotel where they really do try (successfully) to make your stay comfortable! The location is a good 10 mins walk from the "start" of the city centre (not a problem if fit) and the rather poor sound proofing between rooms - neither of which may bother most people.
Staff were extremely helpful.
The staff at this hotel were the most helpful I have ever experienced. They love their city of Lucca and want to share it with their guests. The breakfast was good. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. The location was excellent- 5 minute walk to the gates and main street of Lucca. I would highly recommend this hotel.
Good location, outside the city walls but only 10 minutes walk away. Really comfortable and clean rooms. Very helpful owners.
Very friendly and warm welcome, owner is extremely helpful in every way.
The B&B is newly renovated with new tiled floors throughout, rooms are spacious and the lcoation is perfect for exploring Lucca They could improve the WiFi network.
Owner friendly and charming. Excellent breakfast.
Room and bathroom were very modern and clean. Breakfast was excellent for English and local guests. Luca, the owner, was very friendly and helpful. One of the best and cheapest hotels/B&B's I've stayed in. I would definitely recommend this B&B and would stay here again!!
The manager, Luca, is very hospitable and extremely helpful. It is worth visiting for him alone. You really feel welcome.
The staff is very engaging and helpful. The location is beautiful, across the street from the birthplace of Puccini and central to the medieval walled city of Lucca. Didn't stay long enough. Give yourself a few days to see Lucca and a couple more to see Pisa which is only 20 minutes away by bus.
Wonderfully located and good bargain. Small room, one window opening onto a brick wall a few feet away.
The hotel had welcoming, friendly staff at reception. The room was clean, comfortable and all that was required for a short stay. The shower room was smallish but well appointed although the shower did show some of the eccentricities common throughout Italy. We did not have the hotel breakfast but had our coffee and croissants at one of the excellent cafes in the square round the corner. The restaurants in the vicinity were good for both lunch and dinner, catering for all budgets. Highly recommeng getting the audio guide from tourist info and taking a walk of the town and its walls.
Right from the moment we arrived at the hotel, the greeting was welcoming and everything was done to make us feel relaxed about our stay. This approach continued throughout our stay, no matter who was manning the front desk. The size of the bathrooms was initially a bit confronting and there didn't seem to be a lift, but we 'acclimatised' to the bathroom and the hotel staff very helpfully carried our heavy suitcases for us.
The staff was very nice and helpful. The locatiion can't be beat. Bathroom was dangerously small and had no counter space. Paid for internet access but the signal was not srtrong enough to access the web. Staff graciously refunded the internet fee. I would suggest tyhat at these rates wifi should be provided at no charge, assumint the hotel acquires a wireless router with sufficient power.
