I love this hotel.
Nothing. Bed was super hard. Rooms are tiny.
Came down from Boston and wanted to stay near Penn Station to make traveling home easier. The location was good since it's a quick five minute walk to the train. My biggest complaint is that the hotel charged me an extra $25 fee for the business lounge, phones and wifi, which they didn't disclose to me at all. In fact, when I checked in, they touted their guest wifi as a feature of the hotel. You can imagine my surprise then when I woke up with a paper invoice slipped underneath my door in the middle of the night demanding I pay $25 for a "facilities fee." Seems like they are nickel-and-diming their customers to squeeze out every last dollar of an already expensive hotel. Beyond the hiddens fees, I stayed in a Double Metro room with a colleague. The room was a bit cramped without much room to move around. There were only two accessible outlets in the entire room, so charging phones and laptops between meetings was impossible for both of us at once. The others outlets either used European plugs or were inaccessible behind the headboards of the beds. In the middle of the night, the room became inexplicable hot and since you can't open the windows, there was really no way to cool it down. The shower fluctuated back and forth between frigid and scalding hot every 5 seconds. All in all, the facilities were so so and I was thankful my tripped was only schedule for one night.
Poorly disclosed 30$/day facility fee
Clean. $31 surchase went to hotel for no extra value. Was a ripoff with only a small print notice in addition to large print advertised price. Buyer beware. Wouldn't recommend or go back.
They tack on all these fees when you arrive at the door. The bathroom is outdated and so are the tvs. The staff is also not too friendly including the information and door man.
Location Staff were not very friendly. Man at desk checking me in was quite short with me, he kept asking me for a voucher, I kept telling him I didn't have one. He obviously wasn't listening to me. He never said hello, welcome, please or thank you. I realize it was check in time so it was busy, but don't work in this industry if you can't deal with people more appropriately. I actually found all the staff quite stand-offish, except the gentleman at the bag check. I had no cold water for my shower, and there was a tag from previous visitor on the floor in the bathroom. I left a bag in one of the rooms, when I called half hour later, I spent 20 minutes on phone, being put on hold. I finally just went to hotel and asked security to get it.
Location Very Old hotel and very expensive
I was grounded at LaGuardia and found the reservation on Booking.com at a really good price. It was perfect. Great view, great service, Jessica at the front desk was friendly and personable knowing that I'd had a bad day traveling. She gave me great local dinner suggestions, too.
2 bathrooms for one room made it extra convienent. Clean rooms. Ask for a room with a view. You can't go wrong. Didn't have any issues with anything.
The location was awesome It was so small and incredibly expensive for what you get. There were families being evicted in adjacent rooms. Don't know the story there, but not your typical "4 star" experience.
The location was good. The hotel and the room was old fashion. The pictures of the rooms that you show in your website doesn´t match the real ones. Also I had to pay an extra $100 for facilities fee.
Location to Penn Station and Msg couldn't be beat Little noisy. Not there fault.
Location Check in took an hour, staff unmotivated, Rooms dirty, carpet ripped, beds uncomfortable and dirty, shower leaks all over bathroom and water temperature fluctuates from scalding to cold, thermostat broken so room temp uncontrollable, had to open window.....remote broken TV had one channel....just a terrible experience. ...they should be ashamed of themselves.
Location Bad hotel
This hotel banks on its location adjacent to Penn Station. That is the only positive and has allowed them to avoid improving. The facilities are atrocious: dirty rooms, bedbugs, outdated fixtures, uninvested staff, and hidden fees.
Location was very good Long waiting times at the front desk Poor service when requesting an additional blanket Fee for storing suitcases after check-out Expensive parking Expensive Outdated No kettle or coffee maker
The bed is very comfortable and the location is excellent. I stayed for one day only, so can't say much more. Because the hotel is old, a lot of its structure is rusted. It should definitely be renovated. The bedroom is small, but clean. The aged look is interesting, but they should change furnitures as soon as possible! It wouldn't be my first choice of hotel if I had to come to the city again.
NOTHING Rude staff. Super dirty. Charged far more than listed.
I generally don't expect too nice of a place at the low rate...but the carpet was sticky and the beds were sticky and damp. None of the outlets worked. The staff was nice, but not the most accommodating. Although, in their defense, there really wasn't much they could do - it really just needs to be renovated. We had to wear shoes the entire time we were in our room, because the carpet was damp and sticky. Had to order fresh comforters everyday due to the beds being so damp and sticky. Did not look forward to going back to our hotel each night after our long days in the city. Needs renovation.
Maria B at the reservation area was fast and efficient. She got me in my room quickly without any headaches. She suggested a room upgrade which I agreed to and it made my night better. I'd say that she was the main one that kept me from ranking the service really low. Location was excellent. Check in was at 3:00pm and I arrived at 2:30pm. I asked one of the bell folks if I could use the bathroom and he gave me two key cards saying that "one of these should work". I went to the lower lobby area to open the door and both keys didn't work. I then went to the luggage check-in area and asked if I could use the bathroom. They said they didn't have a key either. Ok..now this is pretty damn ridiculous. I went back upstairs to the bell desk and told them that both keys didn't work. The guy told me to go to the reservation check-in area and see if I could get a key.... I was ready to give the front desk a piece of my mind, but the lady suddenly said that I was able to check in early (which made me feel better). I was asked if I wanted to get a room upgrade and I said yes. Really - all I needed was to use the restroom. It was pretty crazy how tough it was for a guest to do something as simple as that.
I liked that it is right next to Penn Station and just two blocks from the venue where the concert I was there to see. The bathroom was very small, the TV was at least 15 years old and about 30ft from the bed.
Only Location. Ugly and old room no air conditioner Bed to small for a a couple.
The location is very good. The price is high as compare to the quality of rooms but I guess it's because of the location I guess the price is high but rooms and bathrooms needs to be repaired.
Outdoor seating for breakfast and relaxation. Great baggage storage after you check out while you see the City and no charge!
All holiday inn are the same and keep to the standard. Great place to stay and great value Nothing to do with the hotel, but that week was a bomb on 23rd Street. Kind of scary but the NYPD done everything to secure the area. At one time 29th Street was blocked but they made sure that I made my flight home.
One of the staff tried to enter my room in the middle of the night. Said they mistook my room for housekeeping?! By myself so it was very scary
Location, decent sized room, clean There were pipes banging in the walls (or else construction elsewhere in the hotel) all night which kept us awake until 2:30am when we gave up and called and asked to switch rooms. To their credit, they moved us immediately and the new room was quieter.
Everything was clean, orderly. had a tv remote that went out... maintenance was dispatched in minutes, and immediately fixed the problem. also, enjoyed the fact that there was no night-time construction going on!
The room was comfortable and the location was great.
Room location was poor and extremely noisy. Staff was unwilling to accommodate change.
Staff friendliness, double beds, breakfast, price Room while clean could be fresher smelling but I am being really picky here
Breakfast inclusive Rooms were pretty clean and better looking than other nyc hotels. Lack of breakfast variety. - always sausage and eggs At night, regulat coffee is very bland and they put less coffee. Very low quality of coffee at night
Rooms were big for the price point and location, very comfortable and accommodating! Will definitely stay there again when going down for any event at the Garden - not even a 2 minute walk! :)
Very nice continental breakfast Hotel staff checked bags for late pickup All staff members were extemly cordial Everything met expectations
We liked the convenience of the area. Easy to check in and out Complimentary breakfast was really good.. a lot of options. Staff was friendly Place was comfortable. All in all it was a good stay! I'd recommend. For the price we paid.. the room was very small... however, I expected this being as we were in a city. Sometimes it's just hard to grasp that.
The location was great, in walking distance to the subway. I did not enjoy waking up in the middle of the night, and finding someone else's underwear in the covers with me. Were the sheets not changed between guests? I was highly disappointed in the esponse from the front desk and management. The front desk's response was, "Ugghh, gross.." The local management never responded. They were supposed to contact me (according to the front desk and corporate office). It never happened. The corporate office was responsive and addressed my concerned. I've stayed at Wingate and other Wyndham properties and enjoyed my stay; I will never return to this one.
Location and staff Noise of ac unit in the room
Price was right for these accommodations. Location is unbeatable. So close to transportation and all of midtown's amenities... Lounge area on separate floor..comfortable and screen providing what to do updates was a nice bonus. Also, appreciated that staff allowed us to store luggage after checkout. Room was on the warm side. Couldn't regulate thermostat. Internet and cell coverage both spotty. Couldn't figure out log in for wifi.
attentive staff ; good location; clean room ; nice breakfast; good value for price water from shower splashes out onto bathroom floor too easily
Friendly staff, very clean and spacious room, good breakfast
Very helpful staff. All requests were handled quickly.
The staff was excellent and really helpful in helping us find locations and how to get there. This hotel has the loudest air conditioner I have ever heard in my life! It worked great, but was so loud that we had to turn it off to get some sleep.
Breakfast was great!! But staff was great and overall stay was good! Wifi and phone reception was horrible. AC was loud and had restroom problems with toilet.
room ready and clean unable to get points with 3rd party reservation
Smack dab in the middle of midtown. Absolutely NO cell phone service. They give you the wifi (I don't know if you normally pay) but that to me should be warned about. I didn't realize I wasn't getting work emails until about an hour after I checked in and noticed my phone was abnormally quiet. Facilities are okay. Couldn't get the air to stop blowing warm even when on cool. Bathroom was a tad sketchy.
El servicio es excelente, como también las facilidades. La realidad es que me encantó todo. Vuelvo a quedarme aqui.
I was really pleased about the accommodations on the hotel. Full kitchen was really useful. Personnel was kind in general (as long as a problem did not arise). I did not like the eggs for breakfast. Couple of packages were not received by hotel.
The best service and kindness help from the front desk lady impressed me , as the door keys were not working she took us to our room personally,
I like the new trend of wood floors, as used here. Seems cleaner. The rooms are very attractive, but less functional than others. The beds are very comfortable. There are lots of places to plug in devices (regular outlets and USB) in several places. Elevators are plentiful and efficient. Loved having a Keurig coffeemaker. I interacted little with staff, but all I encountered in the hallways were friendly. A little off the beaten track, which is good in the city. And right next to a police precinct, which made me feel extra safe. There was no drawer-storage in my room (the closet is elevated, so you can put things on the floor of that, plus belowe the closet are two cubbies - one with the iron/board and one with a safe, but not really convenient for clothing). There was no countertop space in the bathroom for cosmetics, etc. No minibar, which is a sign of 4* and up, to me. And all that is provided are paper coffee cups. Some people may like that they may be cleaner, but I like glass glasses, and ceramic cups. Since I brought a bottle of wine, I asked in the bar if I could have a wine glass to take to my room and the bartender said he wasn't allowed to give one to me. I had a problem turning my TV off with the remote (it would just come back on) and a late night call to the front desk was no help ("Just turn the volume all the way down.") I eventually found a power button on the TV, but the desk clerk should have suggested that. At check-in, the clerk was not unfriendly, but when he handed me my keycard, he didn't really explain anything about the facility (breakfast, etc.) like people usually do.
I assume this is Wyndham's answer to Aloft. It was fine but definitely not fantastic.
I didnt like anything about it. I reserve a room with 2 Queen Size bed when we get there it wasn't reserve for us awful experience the man in the front desk he suggest his going to look for another hotel but we were so tired we just need to relax.
close to penn station I stayed for 4 nights. very loud and i'm talking about car trucks passing by it's people banging on trash cans and construction. The hotel is next door to a police station. room are good size but decor is modern cheap looking with dispensers for shampoo and body wash glued in the shower. I would not stay there again.
Front desk was wonderful, just things beyond their control occurred. Shower in our room squirted from wall even after repair man tried to fix, had to change rooms, delay in getting extra towels from housekeeping--the biggest and most noticeable is the cleaning staff does not know how to properly clean a room, wood floors not swept in rooms and the space between glass showers and sink have never been cleaned--whole bars of used soap, hair ties, wrappers and etc in the space-- just totally gross-- room 306!! They really need a lesson in how to clean a room!!!
Very friendly and helpful staff; stored our luggage before and after check-out, room size was great! That particular block of 35th street seems a little less upscale than the hotel itself. However, right next door to a police precinct, so we felt safe.
Great value! We had an enjoyable weekend visit to NYC with a group of friends. We stayed in a Premium Room with 2 Queen beds, and a pull-out sofa. It also had a mini-fridge and wet bar area. The room was huge, clean, and very comfortable with tons of windows. The location of the hotel was convenient to our weekend plans at MSG. Hotel lobby staff was friendly and helpful with restaurant recommendations. I would definitely stay at this hotel again, and would certainly recommend it to friends.
Close to subway stop A lot of noise in room hardwood floors and thin walls, makes for a noisy experience especially with the exit doors being slammed by housekeeping all day. Could hear full conversations in the rooms from neighbors
I was in town for a convention and found the location perfect. Staff was great which was a real plus given the small size of common area. The room was comfortable and I liked the wood floors. Rooms average to large size for NYC. Just want to commend the staff at the front desk, bell man, and breakfast staff all helpful and friendly. I think I saw a cast member from Law and Order staying at the hotel too. Better after hours food in the vending machines. It was out of colas at 9 on a Wednesday night, and limited snacks selection. It is NY so only had to walk a block to find what we wanted though. 35th is one way west and not cab friendly.
Location /to some extent/ price Noise level - VERY hard to sleep [they even provide earplugs in the room!] Services
Convenient location Rooms were gross, carpet needs to be cleaned, there were dust balls in the room
Loved the location across the street from Penn Station- front desk staff was friendly and efficient- all staff was friendly and acknowledged us whether we were walking in or down a hallway- it was refreshing. Room was very clean and spacious. I think we had a king- limited view. Loved being on 7th Ave- we walked straight up7th to Times Square and straight down 7th to Greenwich Village. So many excellent restaurants within 3 blocks. Also loved that the lobby was not hectic-crazy-busy like some of the Times Square hotels can be. I would have liked a lobby bar. Always fun to sit and people watch. There is a bar/restaurant but it's through a set of (glass) doors off the lobby. I can think of nothing else that would have improved our 3 nights here.
Location and price Checking in at 5:00 PM was delayed by an hour. Using valet took over an hour to get the car
Lication Check was supposed to be 3- then got Ana ail saying it was 4- waited and didn't get in the room until 4:40- staff seemed like they were making up story as to why we didn't have our room. Got to the room- remote didn't work and no shower gel in shower- oh well... There are worse things!
Got to be the downtown location. Half a block from Madison Square Garden, a short stroll to Times Square, subway in easy reach. Staff were professional and fast.. Security was good-a doorman plus a requirement to use your room keycard to access the guest floors on the elevator. Room bright and clean, and a comfortable bed. Lots of restaurants/bars in easy reach. Overnight parking garage right off the entrance-have to hand over your car to attendant and he'll park it/bring it back to you. Not cheap, but downtown parking never is. The windows didn't have a clean seal, so there was a constant low-level draft through them and some street noise leaking in. On a cool spring day no issue, but imagine it would be VERY chilly in winter, and wonder if summer would make it a war between A/C and the leak. Bathroom TINY-one person can stand in it, and basically rotate in place-sink to toilet to shower. The shower was also very cramped-not one for the claustrophobic.
We booked the hotel last minute since we had to come to NY for an audition the following day. We've stayed in a few hotels in the area and for the price this was by far the best. Food was great, service was exceptional. Staff was friendly. The room was very comfortable. I would recommend it! My boyfriend took a shower with the door open and if set off the Fire alarm in the bedroom for a solid 5 minutes before someone could come deactivate it. When they came to deactivate it they said "did you have the bathroom door open when you were showering?" so clearly it's been a problem before.
The staff was excellent. The lobby is gorgeous and I love the fruit infused water there. They gave me a free upgrade and the view was stunning as well as the lighting design, environmental graphics - comfort of pillows and bed, shower... Made my visit special and I was able to leave my suitcase while I walked around.
The staff appreciates the customer and will do their best to accomodate. The building has character and distinguished. Our suite was perfect with a to die for view. Time square
Nothing Everything I don't know if it was a bad experience but they were rude the rooms smelled they upgraded me and it was even worse the smell
The room was fairly large for NYC. Contemporary decor in an old hotel. Great location for Penn Station/Amtrak. Shower was TINY, and bathroom had little space for touletries. Air conditioning was loud , but helped to block out the constant horn blowing most of the night. Make sure to get a room away from the street!
Would not stay here or recommend to colleagues Thermostat did not work and response was poor to fix it. Sent me to new room which was very noisy and had a dirty bed.
Comfy bed with soft sheets, nice staff The ice machine didn't work
The staff at the DoubleTree South Times Square is AWESOME! Friendly, helpful, bent over backwards to make my stay comfortable. Small room, ice machines not on every floor. SLOW elevators!
We got our cookie, so we had that going for us... which was nice. Staff was curt and unwilling to accommodate a booking error that occurred. It didn't really seem like my business mattered much there. Won't be making any future reservations here.
Good location, helpful staff. Small room, even by NYC standards, heat was very difficult to regulate.
For the cost I don't see how you can charge what you do for these rooms when you can stay at the one at Times Square for the same amount and have a suite. You can barely walk by another person in these rooms. You charge WAY TOO MUCH for them!!!
Got in late after the Bruce Springsteen concert and the front desk associate gave my friend and I each a bottle of water. Extra cookies on check out -- which are amazing by the way! Issue with two blow dryers.
Misinformation from concierge on where to park when we arrived at midnight. Construction noise outside our window all night with no warning or apology from hotel staff. Place is pretty crowded and dingy. Was not aware that Hilton did not give points if booked through kayak
I can't say enough about how friendly the staff was!! Amazing Small rooms , but that's typical of many Manhattan hotels
Beds were comfortable. Bathroom was good sized with a large shower, but there was virtually no counter space and it was impossible to use the faucet and sink without splashing water outside the sink. The room had almost no drawer space. Two narrow and deep drawers and one letter drawer. Closet also very small. If you are staying more than a day or two, you will have to still live our of your suitcase. Speaking of suit cases - no place to put them to get them out of the way. Very poorly designed room/bathroom/furniture for counter space and drawers. Broken safety rail in shower - very dangerous! Nice breakfast - but constantly running out of plates, bowls, etc.
We were there during the blizzard and the staff did a great job, especially like the restaurant!!!
Internet only in the lobby
Great Location, comfy bed, staff was very nice and friendly. Linen was dirty no complimentary items in bathroom one face towel in bathroom no water to make coffee Early morning construction no fridge in room small room
Amazing location! Literally across the street from Penn Station; only blocks from both the Javitz Center and Theatre District. The view across the south end of the island was breathtaking. My only complaint was lack to storage space for clothes/suitcases.
Proximity to Madison Square Garden (it wasn't even a block). Rooftop deck, walking distance to the empire state. The room was spacious and clean. I appreciated the Pantene products in the bathroom.

Modern clean friendly served full breakfast No
Location was great. No.
Hot breakfeast was free and fantastic for free breakfeast Lots of construction near by
great location and friendly staff breakfast too overcrowded and hours are not convenient to traveling with teens and small children
great customer service- front desk folks were great!! really bad breakfast- the powdered eggs were some of the worst I have had. Also, folks were reusing dirty plate, I acually forced a girl in line to get a new plate (so not sanitary!!), so they need signs up to remind folks to get a clean plate each trip!
Very clean. Close to everything. Reasonable price. Very small. No real view.

I love the theme behind this hotel: you're not there for the hotel, you are there for New York. The tiny rooms encourage you to be out all night and to enjoy the city for what it is, the city the never sleeps. This is not a hotel geared towards families, but it is projected towards young individuals who want to enjoy the night life and fast paced action of New York City. The employees know and encourage this behavior (they even hold onto your bags during the day after you check out for the day). There are shared bathrooms. This was not an inconvenience to me, but it might be for others who were not in the college scene or who want privacy.
It's was yuck
Close to everything you want Noisy front desk radio
Friendly staff Very few bathrooms amd showers Room was smaller than page depicted
Location & cost - was exactly what we needed and where we wanted to be for our one-night stay - litereally in the city for less than 24 hours just needed a place to sleep within walking distance to train station, MSG & bars/restaurants n/a
Unable to prepare customer with accurate information. Everything in pieces
Expensive $--- and extra $79 for ? Commission, room extremely small, no cupboards, no lifts, toilets small as cupboard No amenities, very expensive, larger chains with bigger rooms and king size beds cheaper Hotel room absolutely NO storage This is a rip off And commision of $ 79 !!
Excellent staff Mattress not good. Room too small

Price and location Way to small rooms. Bed had no boxspring. If I sat on the toilet my feet would be in the shower. No kidding. Four flights of stairs.
The customer service was great. And the rooms were clean. The windows are super thin, so being on the third floor I kept waking up all night with the honking and sirens. I am a heavy sleeper, so it must have been pretty bad. All the rooms face the street, so there really is no way to get around it.
Room was very small, there was no lift, no public space and food. Location was also not good since it was close to a pub, saw people drink, fight and sleep on the pavement near the pub. Hotel does not deserve a 2 rating.
Very clean. Complimentary tea and water. Concierge was very helpful and polite. Held our bags before and after check in. Great location to everything. Room was small, but affordable. I would definitely stay again. Window air conditioning was blocked my the curtain. We would have left it open, but we were street level. A little uncomfortable in 95 degree weather.
The location, is incredible! The hotel is clean staff was great and yes the room is small but works just fine. I would stay again!
Location in the city is good. No elevatorRoom was incredibly tiny (even for NYC)Bed was very springy and uncomfortable
