Staff at desk. Very inpolite and unhelpful.
convenience & comfort
The ambience and location of the hotel. Staff were very helpful, especially the bar staff. We loved our stay there; it was one of the best hotels we stayed in during three weeks' travel around Italy. The water pressure in our shower on the 4th was inadequate.
Nice room. Not very big with nice terrace. Very good breakfast. Globally a beautiful classic hotel. Thw water wasn't draining away in the shower. Some ventilation problem in the room.
Beautiful roof terrace, room was comfortable and bigger than expected. Bath was dirty and shower pressure was very weak.
The location was excellent for sightseeing. The hotel was quite beautiful and the breakfast was very good. The staff was not particularly helpful or friendly. The hotel was attractive but not particularly enticing or comfortable. Our room was substandard dark and dreary.
Central location in the old town of the city. Very nice reception desk staff.
Friendly helpful staff. Convenient central location
The balconies they have in each room. A nice break. The rooms were basic, good but not wow. The breakfast was pretty unimpressive!
Breakfast ! We have a ruine house front of the windows...!!
Close to Stations. Panorama from terrace
Helpful reception and breakfast staff. Central location. It was noisy with bulding work in the light well commencing at 6.45 AM by throwing bricks into a wheelbarrow. We were in room 508. Also pillows were rock hard.
The Hotel's location and was impressed by its cleanliness
The roof terrace was lovely with amazing views over the city. The hotel was in a central position with easy access to the train station. The staff were really friendly and helpfull.
A good location besides train station There are PUBs nearby the hotel and it is noisy at night!!
convenient location near to station and main tourist sites, great roof terrace for breakfast/evening drinks, friendly and helpful staff Some noise at night from street bars.
The staff was just superb. Friendly, helpful and always available. The roof top lounge was a real treat with stunning views of the old city. We enjoyed it for breakfast and wine in the evening. Our room was lovely, small fridge, very nicely appointed. Great location for exploring the markets, port and other important sites in old Palermo.
The position of the hotel is convenient for the major sights and transport. The view from the roof while we had breakfast was breathtaking We got back to the hotel late and a machine selling hot or cold drinks would have been welcome as the mini bar was empty
Short walk from the train/bus station. Close to restaurants and sights. Great views from the rooftop restaurant. Room was a good size. Bathroom is a little cramped. Shower only. Wifi can be a little spotty during busy times. Saturday night can be a little bit noisy from the bars outside, but no problems other times.
We like the room which is good value for the price. It seems recently renovated and it's nice to have high ceiling. The terrace at the top where we had breakfast is really nice. The hotel is hard to get to. We got stuck in a traffic jam in center of town. There's so many one way streets and we got lost many times. The parking garage is not exactly close by. Inside the room, the shower door does not close properly and the drain is slow. That was a bit annoying.
The staff is awesome - they went out of their way to help with our special requests and multiple change of plans Nothing
Very good value for money, perfect location (in ther heart of the city), kind staff and very good breakfast. Maybe a little bit noisy in the morning when staff clean rooms from the upper floor.
The breakfast The worst night ever. Via Roma is a highway at night, therefore, impossible to sleep. The old mattress with the feeling of spring that gets into your skin does not help the situation. The bathroom, covered with mold and hair was just disgusting. I do not understand how customers can leave good comments about this hotel. The price is not worth the effort, believe me!
Location; Helpful, friendly staff - we were able to leave our luggage after checking out to collect later; Full of character - loved the lift! but with modern facilities and comfort; Good breakfast;
Location was very good, 400 yards from the main central train station in Palermo. We stayed in room 14 where the window faced a brick wall. No air supply into the room and although the rooms are advised to be soundproof they are not. The rooms don't have proper doors and you can see into the corridor through the crack in the door. Room was dusty and not cleaned properly. Only one very dangerous plug socket to use between the two of us, which the TV and lamps where also plugged into with an adapter. Bathroom very old and dated not very comforting. Hotel didn't advise that a school group would be staying in room 15 on our last night so was very noisy.
Good location, close to Palermo Central rail station. Staff helpful and friendly. Room was on the small side.
Situation near station, airy clean rooms, nice breakfast
Location. The room we had bookined for our friend had a shower that did not work well. Hotel adjusted the price for him.
The location was very nice. Very close to the traing station Easy access to all the attrications . Close to restaurants and staff Was awesome. The Shower was very small.
Central location, cleanliness and good breakfast No
Very friendly and helpful staff. Great breakfast. Excellent location. Beds are very soft.
Great location, close to main station and shopping area
The Bye Bye Blues restaurant was absolutely outstanding and a wonderful surprise. We did not expect to find a restaurant of such a high standing in Palermo. Also being a coeliac I was very impressed to find that there was gluten free bread for me at breakfast and at dinner. Excellent service. Also the bathrooms were fabulous with magnificent large shower heads which gave the best shower. There is nothing negative that I could say about the hotel, staff or restaurant. I would definitely stay there again.
The staff were extremely helpful at Quintocanto. Alitalia lost our bags and the hotel staff tracked them down for us and made sure they were there before our departure (trust me, it didn't look promising). In the meantime, my wife and I had an excuse to enjoy the shopping in the area and relaxed with an excellent massage in the spa. The prices are reasonable, the location is excellent, and the service is even better. We did not have a car, but I can imagine that parking in the area would be difficult.
I like its central location, its parking service, and its looks. Maybe the lack of light in our room.
Great and very central location, clean and new both in the rooms and the common areas, tasteful and functional decoration (but not cold or without character). Good breakfast, at least for general Italian standards (that is, do not expect a huge buffet but it is also not the regular croissant - jam - coffee kind of minimal Italian breakfast). There was some construction noise, which we also saw in other reviews from September 2010, but thought would be over by our trip (which was mid-November). Unfortunately it was not the case. Having read about it on booking.com, we had requested a room away from the construction work when booking, but that did not happen. We understand from the hotell staff that it is from a neighbouring building so they do not have much control, but it would be good if they could speak to the neighbours and have the noise at least not before 10 am (it started at around 8.30).
The room was beautiful though absolutely no view.Bathroom was like a spa. Sheets and bed were wonderful. Decor was far more elegant than expected. Spa also is beautiful. Need more staff at night and during the summer. They were overworked and it led to an extremely slow resolution of problems with the internet and phone etc. The houseman was delivering room service and getting parked cars. It was
Best location for sight seeing. The restaurant was excellent. They had a wifi access, but I could not get connected for some reason. The hotel staff said it was something wrong with my PC or sofrware. It could have been helpful if there is some kind of written instruction.
After booking at an already competitive rate, I was delighted to get an upgrade (late August, city centres in Italy are devoid of italians/business travellers so hotels have more availability) and it was a room at the back so very quiet and overlooking the roof of a big church and just wonderful. Their restaurant was also the one which served us the best meal of the whole week in Sicily and the staff were helpful with choices of wine and food. Hotel staff also recommended us a local car rental which proved in turn to be very competitively priced and helpful too. Oh and it couldn't have been more central. It is spread over 2 buildings so there was a slightly roundabout route to our room but that was not a problem.
In the bathroom, the shower was difficult to adjust (to turn on/off and temperature-wise) and there was a problem with the sink plug.
very nice hotel, the staff was friendly, attentive and helpful especially in breakfast room, the outstanding reasturant. very spacious bathroom. double room was not enough spacious
Relatively modern hotel in the middle of Palermo. Breakfast was great! No Tea or coffee available in the rooms, Resturant closed on our second night.
Large and comfortable room, though pretty basically furnished. Close to where we needed to be. Good value for money and very clean.
Very central ,safe environment, efficient staff, pleasant internal decor and extremely clean rooms corridors etc. Poor breakfast-half glass of juice a bit mean. Some muesli, fruit .and yogurt would have been welcome.
central location within walking distance of most popular sights & neighbourhoods easy to find when arriving at main bus station & safe well overpriced for quality of hotel single room basic but clean
We spent in the hotel four nights. Our room was silent . Breakfast was satisfying (rolls, croissant, jam, honey, nutella, butter, biscuits, juice, cafe), especially compared to other cheap hotels. The service was nice and helpful. The location to visit the city was great. Lack of Wi-Fi.
An optimal location near the train station, restaurants and night life. Good price. Dated rooms. Old-school showers where you have to sit in the tubs. Crappy wi-fi.
the central location, the silence (in rear room), the kitsch pictures in the corridor bad smell at the entrance at street level, meagre breakfast
Friendly staff and good location
very family. It´s location in the centre of Palermo and it´s nice appearance are really worth for anybody. No, nothing!
The central position and the value for money. Also people were kind.
We really had a perfect stay at hotel moderno. The location is amazing, for this price, you really are in the center of the historic palerme! Surrounded by great places to see, great shops. And the staff iss really nice, present 24 hours a day, they find solutions for you for anything you can think of. Any time of the day or night. Veeeery nice! The breakfast is not good at all (bad coffee, hot chocolate is super sugary) but who cares, there are plenty of great gelateria and pasteryshop and coffee shops all around the hotel to get a perfect "corneto e capuccino"! And for this price, you don't complain.
Gorgeous, clean, great location and felt safe. A true gem. I can't wait to go back.
This is one of the best hotels we have stayed at. We travel quite a lot and this hotel is definitely one that we would like to recommend. We stayed in a Deluxe room, with a separate jacuzzi room. We also had dinner in the hotel restaurant and can recommend this to anyone staying at the hotel and not wanting to go out and hunt for a top-restaurant. Breakfast was not top (choice of food) - but was it was fresh. No glasses in the room/mini-bar...
We have enjoyed the hotel which is clean, new, central, quit - just beautiful.
Nicely appointed rooms in great location. Friendly, helpful staff. not their fault, but there was a power blackout one night.
the location and design of the hotel was excellent. as was the reception staff - very helpful with enquiries re restaurants, trains, buses etc. the breakfast was quite poor. on 2 days we were seated at tables with stained table cloths - should never be allowed. the scrambled eggs were lumpy and watery - no resemblence to scrambled eggs at all.
The architecture of the hotel and the elegance of the rooms.Very quiet and discrete place to be in the heart of the city of Palermo.Excellent value for the money. The quality of the breakfast is improvable.
The location and very good breakfast available at nearby bar. The fact the hotel had no lift and the necessity of climbing flights of marble stairs with heavy suitcases. We were able to do this but anybody with e.g. bad back, heart disease would have been in severe difficulties. There were no obvious facilities.
The facility has some baroque atmosphere, quite old and decadent. Pretty good location. Low price aligned with low quality. No elevator. No credit card for small amounts (i.e. only a couple of nights): this info came out only at checkout. Clumsy receptionists.
The breakfast is very poor - a nightmare in plastic. The coffee was horrible!
Awful place. Dirty district, dirty hotel. Never again
Location was pretty good Bathroom was not very clean...shower was way too small and flooded everytime you used it.
Friendliness of the staff, location of the hotel
A pleasant hotel on the second floor in the city centre. Can be a bit noisy if you are on the street side. Breakfast is self service for an extra €5,00.
a good location, near the central station and the city center, nice rooms breakfast is bad, only sweet things available, there was no water in the bathroom and the toilet for a while
Its location and its value for money. -
It was in the center of the city. There was no elevator - and it was on the 2nd floor - but actually 4th floor - since one floor is equivalent to 2 floors. It was very noisy. One could hear who went out and the windows did not have double windows. You would think you were watching the cars and motorcycles go by.
Room reasonably comfortable. Reception staff (with one exception) largely disinterested and unwelcoming. Breakfast poor - two choices - sweet or sweet. Small concessions to Northern European tastes (e.g. a few slices of cheese and some fruit) would have made a difference.
The room was clean and large Morning a bit noisy
Good location, easy to find from the train station on a major shopping street. Free lift to the fourth floor location. Staff didn't speak English and was very unfriendly, refusing to let me use the phone (and there was no phone in the room). The breakfast was not very good, consisting only of rolls and croissants.
Crew is very kind and helpful. The rooms are simply but very clean. The breakfast is only sweet and sweet.
Great central location, large room with original features and great view, they even brought us breakfast to the room. They only speak a little English but this wasn't an issue as very welcoming Parking is difficult in Palermo!
