The location was exceptional. Incredibly centered and in a quiet section of Ikebukuro where you could truly get anywhere in a short time. Anyone with a JR Rail Pass will really benefit if you can get a spot here. The hotel otherwise is a little smaller than what the pictures on the website allude, but its not a big deal if you are out and about travelling. The concierge and the front desk left a lot to be desired. Don't bother asking them for much help unless its something fairly simple.
I t was a pleasant experience, wi th god food (too high forus when we were not on Grand Circle Tour), good bedroom and toilet, great service, and wonde rful location near Ikebukuro.
Location highly convenient with train station located only minutes away. Lots of shopping in Ikebukuro. Hotel employees very accommodating and highly professional.
The rooms are clean, the place is fine, the service is great. They don't skip a beat. The room safe is really convenient. Here's the thing, I stay in Tokyo a few times a year. The prices here are expensive for rooms this small. As for the breakfast, it's catered to Japanese travelers with food that I really can't put down in the morning. No whole wheat bread, no espresso coffee, not enough fresh fruit.
Location...location...location...AND The staff can understand English and are always very helpful in answering queries The bedcover in the room had a some bloodstains - seems laundry is not good
I like that they have bus service to and from both Tokyo airports (Haneda and Narita). This is very convenient. I also like that it's very close to the train station. Very convenient location overall and rooms are very nice and clean.
I thought the location is perfect because it was only 5 mn walk from IKuburu train station and from there you can explore the rest of the city. The view from the window was awful. My room was overlooking a lower roof that looked ughly to me. Breakfast was not provided and there was not even a coffee maker to make coffee in the morning. I thought the price was a bit expensive for that standard of a hotel. The carpet was not clean also.
Amazing customer service.
Excellent hotel with excellent service. Only after I had checked-out and arrived at the airport over an hour away did I realize I inadvertently left some very important items in my room. The staff at the hotel was extremely patient, kind, and went out of their way to send the items to us via their airport bus service at no cost to us. If not for housekeeping, the front desk, and guest relations coordinating the delivery and finding people that spoke our language to communicate with us, as well as the airport's helpful staff watching out for the right bus for us, we would have been lost. Special thanks to Mayumi Okuma-san. That's what I call superior service. I will always be grateful and will definitely stay at this hotel whenever I am in Tokyo. Free in-room wi-fi would have been a nice touch for the hotel because every other hotel we have stayed at in Tokyo and other major cities offer it for free, but the 500 yen per stay is still tolerable.
Location, for a couple reasons. It was close to a shopping / dining area and 5 mins away from the nearest subway station. Airport Limousine drops guests off right at the hotel's doorstep, which is a huge plus. None
Very convenient location.Staff is friendly. Unfortunately no wifi (but most places in Tokyo doesnt have WIFI anyway). But it is an excellent place to stay as it is close to everything!
Close to train station Good staff service
Easy access to subway. Good area for shopping and eating. Breakfast included. Nothing in particular.
Very modern, clean, good location a little away from the bussiest areas but I liked this slightly slower paced area. It is near to the train station too. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom very modern with good fittings. The room was a little small but I think this is common for Tokyo.
Room great altho lacking a wardrobe but great breakfast, resturant, bar on 2nd floor available, taxi to Sunshine Hotel then shuttle bus to Airport,so easy.loved the location, one train ride to Shinjuku- wonderful, exciting, amazing. Wonderful politie people.. loved it.Bathroom wonderful, amazing work of art with the toilets and warm seat.. Just a lack of wardrobe but this was minimal inconvenience.
The rooms in the back side are better than the ones on the side of the street
The room was very comfortable with a nice shower. Availability of a computer in the lobby was nice and the breakfast quite satisfactory. The only thing missing was a drawer to put some clothes in, but it was not really a big problem.
I was happy with the funnctionnality and the good design which made me felel confortable in a rather small room
Very handy to the train station. The hotel was modern and spotless.
Good location, easy acess to shopping centers and Ikebukuro Station No wifi
The hotel was comfy and newly decorated. We got a bigger room than we had reserved which was a nice surprise. The room and the bathroom were new and very clean. Room service was a bit poor. The hotel was a bit far away from the Tokyo center (about 20-25 minutes with train/subway + walk).
Good hotel in ideal position for visiting Tokyo, very economical but with a quite confort (internet in room no cost is very imortant in Japan! , but also you have newspaper and a little restaurant bar ) . Thank you very much!
Location was good, within walking distance to train station. Room was clean and bright. 24 hr cafe.
Knowing the prices of Tokyo I belive it is very good value and the staff is polite and helpfull. It is as well refreshing to meet so many different kinds of people.
The staff was very helpful and they spoke English which was a bonus. Friendly and accomodating. No complaints.
Very nice staff. Not to expensive cafe. Free Wifi in the lobby. Good location in the middle of Ikebukuro, which is not realy a district you would visit if you didn't stay there, but it's nice. Good shopping and a lot of restaurants. The airco was much to cold and it cannot be managed by yourself, but is done by the hotel staff at the reception. In the hot japanese summer, I just like to change the themperature at night and daytime etc. which of course I couldn't, since I had to go to the reception everytime. Very inconvienient. Internet in the room is with a modem, which we couldn't get to work anywhere in Japan. If you don't have a laptop, you have to pay for using the internet in the lobby.
The bed was good. I slept very well. The location is near a huge railway station and underground market. Also they will give you a bottle of water every day after bed making. The "Ikebukuro North Area" is a dangerous area with lots of adult services and yakuza. You will never want to stay here anymore unless the dark side of the city is what you want to experience. Also, it is far from all major sightseeing spots. To save your time (and money) it is better to stay at the east side of Yamanote Line. Their internet is also bad. It has rate limit to all Google websites including YouTube, it is even not possible to use Google Maps normally. I finally set up a VPN to a Japan server and everything was fine.
There was a washing machine in my room Was no able to extend stay when plans changed
the overall is good.location good, but the room too small and they didnt provide to clean up less than 7 days stay. i missed my things in the room when i check out, i went back to the hotel few days later, luckly they keep it 4 me...thanks the staff keeping my thing.i will stay this hotel next time and recommence to my fren too. none
Good location, tidy and clean. Friendly staff.
I stayed in this hotel already once before, several years ago when I visited Tokyo last time. The main advantage of this hotel is a convenient location near the Ikebukuro station and therefore good access to any part of Tokyo by the Yamanote line or subways.
some of the staff speak English the elevator was set to go up most of the time, if want to leave the hotel has to take the stairs. It was ok when I was just out for sight seeing, not when i was leaving, I asked for help to get my 2 luggages out of the hotel, the staff only helped to reset the elevator that can go downstairs, the elevator is tiny, not very wide, can only fit one (person/luggage/thin object). I had difficulty to put my handcarry luggage, big luggage and myself on to the elevator. I took 3 steps of the elevator space ..The staff could have at least helped the guest move the luggage out to the door, not just out of the reception. It was really annoying
Service was good, rooms very clean and comfortable. Close to the station in Ikebukuro and to a lot of nice restaurants neareby. Good windows, quiet nights.
The location is right in the midst of shopping and very near to subway stn and rate is comparably cheaper than other city hotels. Staff are friendly and helpful. Internet access is free. Limited programs on tv, no English language programs, no live coverage of football games..
When the staff offered to lend me an umbrella for the day instead of me buying one from the counter. the room is really too constrained... but maybe it's just Tokyo..
close to shopping area, many good restaurants nearby
Hotel Staff specially Front Office Staffs was very cooperative. Mr. Noaki Masuoka was really very kind and cooperative. If, in future there will any trip to Tokyo, I shall prefer to stay Hotel Grand City. I stayed in a single bed room. It was well equipped but room and Bath room size was too small. I was muslim but it ws difficult for me to take Breakfast because no Halal eatable items were availabel there except Orange Juice.
The location was relatively near to the train station. The staff did not speak very go English but was very helpful.
Location was in central city. Easy access to train station and other means of transport to other areas. Polite and helpful staff. I fou9nd the room rather small, but understand that space is a premium in Japan.
The room included a fridge and WiFi internet. The room service was excellent. The price was extremely competitive for Tokyo. The room was small for a long trip, and did not include a closet or any storage furniture.
location is very good.VAlue for money in terms of room size and facilities.
A small hotel with reasonable price, great location 12 mins walk to ikebukuro station. Good for business trip.
The hotel staff is very courteous though they are generally not so good in English. The lobby located at basement level accessible by only stairs is inconvenient especially to the elderly,
The hotel promised to reply me by email on the result of searching of my lost pyjama, however, I haven't recieved any reply yet.
The hotel staff are helpful. Location is near to the train station. Room is small but fine for the price we paid. Took some time to find the hotel. Perhaps can indicate in the directions to look out for the Chinese characters of the hotel name instead of hotel Hanamiya Ryokan.
It was a convenient location for shopping, to the station, good restaurants, and doing my business. The room was very compact but for the price, it was worth it. The staff was efficient, pleasant and very helpful. The cleanliness of the room is a big plus. The major disadvantage was having to walk down the stairs to the entrance. The elevator door shut too quickly and the heavy door hurt when it hit.
I didn't like anything very much. I stayed just one night, so the rather run down room, lack of service and poor facilities did not trouble me too much. At least the location is quiet and the beds comfortable, even if the room was cold and the heating system ineffective. In fact I would not describe Weekly Mansion Sugamo as a hotel. As its name implies, it was more like a cheap apartment building for short-term visitors. Reception is only open between 9:00am and 6:00pm. There are no hotel facilities of any sort, and the rooms are quite Spartan and run-down.
In a residential but lively district, a way to discover real life of Tokyo people in a comfortable accomodation for a good price
