An excellent, well run hotel.
I liked the location, the service, the food (especially the salad buffet at dinner, and the breakfast buffet, and the balcony (which actually faced west, not south as stated - in fact, west-facing suited us better).
very comfortable and free soft drinks a nice touch
The staff, the swimming pool, the location were all very nice We were offset by the fact that the picture of the room we booked on the bookin.com site showed an upgraded version of the room we actually turned out to have booked, the management was kind enough to give us a discount
Small and friendly with hands on management
Superb location, the hotel had thought of everything required for a comfortable stay even down to providing an umbrella and shoe horn in each room. Manner of the staff at breakfast
Staff at the hotel were very friendly and helpful. I will definitely return for another visit.
The first view of the hotel room was impressive - it was neatly and well decorated. The room had a balcony which provided view of the mountain.Basically the Wegen place is a great place to have a holiday. The breakfast was also good. They have transportation to the train station which is really very helpful. No
Beautiful view, quaint town, wonderful breakfast, comfortable rooms with lovely antiques. Did not know you couldn't drive to Wengen. Had to take a train up & back from Lauterbrunnen. In the end this was not a hassle & added to the charm of our trip.
I like their breakfast plan in the morning. They price the room rate at par with US dollar when really the Swiss Frac is not at par with the US dollar, according to the news paper. :(
Nice staff, good breakfast, good view Signage (especially at night) could have been better.
room was dark and misreable, like an old persons home, warm breakfast ran out, asked for extra pillows but didn't receive any, poor value for money, poor location
This hotel exudes Old European Charm and was comfortable. Easy walk to the village where we ate excellent Italian food, lunch in a garden setting with view of the Jungfrau. Staff did some laundry for us which was greatly appreciated.
Pick up Service, Kindness of employee
The charm of this hotel is beyond belief and was far superior to what I anticipated for the price. The staff were wonderful and could not have been more helpful. And when I walked into my room for the first time it was like stepping into paradise! Not only was the room spacious and beautifully furnished (including an antique armoire) but it faced the Jungfrau and there was a balcony accessed thru French doors and there was also a large window that opened so fresh air was available on demand. The breakfast buffet was by far the best I had anywhere in Switzerland (at no extra charge) and included bacon. The dinner buffet for CHF25 was good value. Only that I couldn't stay longer!
The hotel staff was excellent. The playground was nice for the kids. The towels were really worn. I had to unplug the TV to have an outlet for my laptop.
Location of the hotel is extremely fantastic. the hotel staff are very helpful.
The staff and service were above my expectations. The sauna and steam room were not as hot as they should be
We loved the spectacular view of the mountains from our very comfortable room and balcony.
The hotel staff was excellent -- very friendly and accommodating. The hotel rooms were large but the decor was vintage 1960s with mismatched wallpaper and furniture and bathrooms in desperate need of renovation. They did not correspond to the reviews on your website.
The beauty of the hotel, the wonderful garden and the kindness of the staff
The hotel is very nice and lovely views. It has a wine list fantastic bourdeux at honest prices. The mattresses of the beds are very bad
We found the room quaint, slightly old but very well kept up. The room and surroundings were quiet and the breakfast outstanding. The service at breakfast was very good, the staff very happy and went out of their way to provide efficient service
The lovely setting and the very friendly staff Wireless internet would be appreciated
The reserved seating for breakfast was a little over the top. It only made for bad feelings and served no purpose other than make the people who were aware they could request tables feel important and those that were not aware, slighted.
Food was excellent Room was very small - although when we booked the reservation had said 'smaller north facing' .....but it was very small.
The staff was amazing, never experienced that level of service before.
Everything The quilt was too warm. A thin spare blanket would be useful put on to the top of the wardrobe.
Easy localisation nereby railway-station, nice facilities with the pool, sauna and spa, good food and good beds. Nice wiew form the balcony in the room. You cant avoid to hear some noise from the trains passing by.
perfect location view from balcony lack of gym equipment
Staff was friendly, helpful. Facilities were clean, attractive. Great location close to train station and lift station, tennis courts, etc. Staff in spa insisted that swim cap was required to use the whirlpool, spa, although there were posted photos of guests in whirlpool without caps on. Caps were available for purchase for 3 CHF. We did not plan to immerse our heads, so caps should have been a non-issue.
Faboulos location with good facilities. The staff were friendly, breakfast was good.
the vieu the room to smal
The Staff were very helpfull with booking trip. The location is suberb for all the areas for sightseeing. The hotel pool and facilities are very good. since our last visit they have made the steam room & sauna as "nude" which is not so now family friendly.
2 mins walk to train station. Beautiful view, nice restaurant, staff are friendly and helpful.
We enjoyed our stay very much! The hotel staff made us feel very welcome and took great care of us. The restaurant had excellent food and service. Our room was lovely with marvelous amenities and beautiful views! We had such a wonderful time that we are planning to host a family gathering there in 2008!
The Halenbad was great and the staff very helpful with turning on the wild rapids for us. Very handy for the station with a small child and close to the telecabine. No non-smoking area in the restaurants - althought he Swiss are generally way behind on that concept so this is not particular to this hotel.
Fantastic rooms and great location!
Please write at least 15 words
internet services is expensive and make no sense to pay that much for it
Very good location and very friendly staff, the room was perfect for a family
close to everything in Wengen
Location of hotel good for town, train and cable car. Good ski and boot room.Helpful staff We were advised repeatedly by other locals not to eat dinner in this hotel as their evening meal was said to be poor!
It is a nice hotel.....with friendly staff..... Do not go to this town Westen in May......The place is dead in the evening time. Their was one restaruant open and no bars......You would be better off staying in lauterbrennan.
The room was very comfortable with added armchairs and balcony furniture. The Staff were all very friendly and helpful, particularly the Reception Staff. We had a good time and would go to The Silberhorn again! We are Vegetarians and the choice of the Vegetarian option on the Dinner Menu was very rich. The Stuba Menu suited us better and we had a wide choice of breakfast dishes. We certainly didn't starve!!
no ventilation in the bathroom,no window net,we could be overseen by people in the main street, having to keep the curtains shut is not a good option, and the service at breakfast was poor
The location It is questionable if this really is a four star hotel????!!!! The food was of low quality.
View side from the hotel was really good, hotel is above arround 1100 m. and you can see the the top of montain from the hotel facilityies of the hotel was really old and bad. I take two rooms, the refrigrator in the first room not working propapely and there was no available in the second room. Staff are very limited. i.e. the one whose working in the front office responsible for house keeping, room services and there was only one serving all of customers during breakfast!
The hotel view and staff were excellent. We would recommend this hotel. Bathroom was dated.
Staff were very nice; restaurant was excellent bathrooms were not fantastic; no duvets; linen sheets not as comfortable; breakfast should have fresher fruit
The view from the room. The old-time atmosphere. My review reflects the fact that I stayed at the hotel in summer time, when it seems that the staff is at a minimum and everything is reduced as much as possible (personnel, lighting, food). The gourmet restaurant was closed (but it was not mentioned at booking time) and the breakfast was barely essential.
My prior visits were when prior owners there. Very warm atmosphere. Excellent food. Mattresses were 'rock hard'. This interfered with sleeping.
I liked the location and freindly service.
The food at Jack's Brasserie was very nice. It was a ski in ski out hotel. It was comfortable and friendly if a bit faded glamour. The rooms were a little dowdy and could do with brightening up.
Great view, well located (although this can be said about 90% hotel in Alps), really good restraunt, excellent home-made wine. Hotel is "ancient" and this is it's main feature There was a dust on the furniture, bad was increadibly uncomfortable, not enogh towels in the bathroom
Everything is much below my expectations....NOT Recommended unless u dont mind to pay 4 stars but get 1 star services. Duvet is very small and not suitable for adult. Not much choice in Breakfast Buffet table(s)...
Great location. The Breakfast was great. For 300 per night it was a bit expensive. Once upon a time it was a grand hotel in the mountains. But it has become a bit rundown. It is in need of some fresh paint and new pillows The rooms have been cut up into small rooms with a maze for hallways, which of course takes away from the feeling of a grand hotel. Some of this inattention may be because of the poor economic times. Very few travelers in Wengen this summer.
The hotel is a very attractive building combining traditional chalet-style architecture on the outside with a modern interior featuring beautiful woodwork, subtle, restful and harmonious colours, excellent layouts in both public and private rooms, and interesting art throughout. Christian Aumont, the general manager, is a wonderful host - friendly, attentive, helpful and discrete. The food and wine were excellent.
The rooms are very comfortable and clean with modern furnishings. Our room on the third floor facing south had spectacular views of the mountains and the incredible valley. The front desk staff was very friendly and helpful. Our large family group occupied 4 rooms. We were all very pleased, but would encourage spending the few dollars more for a room on the south side. It is worth it.
Place was awesome. Town is small so it's easy to get around, it's very quiet and this is even further off the Main Street. Only had breakfast: meats/cheeses, lots of bread, boiled eggs, yogurt. Staff was ultra cool, very good understanding of the town and how things work around there. Nothing intrinsically their fault. Construction was happening across the street which was noisy. They lock the doors at night, so remember your key if you return late. There is a decently steep hill to get there, so bare that in mind if mobility is a requirement.
Location was superb. Room on south side has tremendous views. Staff was attentive and friendly.
It was convenient to the Kino, restaurants and skiing. They were prompt with all of our requests and picked us up and delivered back to the station in record time! The walls were rather thin and it is frequented by families with children who had a tendency to make a lot of noise in the halls and on our ceiling we heard running around and banging of things.
The staff were charming and accommodated our special timing needs.
very calm - the staff is very friendly and very helpfull - talking Arabic and English - near the station and near the mountain and the fall and the shopping bad restaurant
Room was clean, warm and inviting with great views (southern room facing mountains). Staff were very helpful.
The atmosphere was wonderful. You felt like you were in someone's home and the owners certainly treated everyone that way. The room was wonderful, the views amazing, and the service spectacular. I traveled with my dog and she was welcomed just as nicely. We will absolutely return.
hiking and sightseeing
Lovely hotel staff, especially the family that run the hotel. Really friendly and helpful. The food was also excellent value for money. I would recommend eating the meals at the hotel. The rooms were nice, there were good relaxing areas downstairs and the hotel had a lovely feel to it.
Staff was wonderful, great food.
The whole experience from the train trip up the mountain and the beautiful scenery, then being met unexpectedly at the station and the lovely welcome at the hotel, a drink and a bracing walk before dinner and the wonderful food and restaurant service that night. It was our 37th wedding anniversary and we enjoyed every minute. The van that colected us from the hotel was not big enough for all the guests and felt a little unsafe.
The hotel staffs were very kindly and friendly, and the view of the mountain from the room was excellent! (but only from the south faced room).
Great views along the Lauterbrunnen Valley. Staff were very efficient. It was not very central to facilities or station. The town is car free and they charged to transport luggage to the station. No TV.
We had a valley-side room and the view of the mountains, valley and waterfalls was superb! The owner and all the staff always treated us nicely, and dinner & breakfast were also good. We really enjoyed our stay.
The quiet position and the superb view, also the fact that it was a family-run hotel not too big or impersonal.
We had an incredible stay. The staff and owner of Belllevue are outstanding. They are incredibly warm and the hotel itself is amazing. We highly recommend it to anyone.
We adored the mountain view. It was truly spectacular. You felt like you could reach out and touch them. The staff were so helpful, you felt as if they gave you their personal attention at all times.
Friendly staff and clean comfortable beds (feather pillows and duvets)
Location. Scenery was very nice everywhere including in breakfast room. Breakfast can be improved.
Friendly staff, good location The 5 minute walk uphill to the lift/ station with full ski gear! Not that bad really
Very friendly and helpful staff, excellent views, clean rooms, food very good. The final bill was even less than I expected. There is a steep walk of a few hundred metres up to the station from the hotel which may not be suitable for everyone.
Very friendly staff. great location, beautiful, peaceful and close to center. Goof breakfast
The view of Jungfraujoch and the mountain scenery from our window was excellent.
We received a warm welcome, excellent service and a very good selection at breakfast. The room was very clean, good shower, plenty of hot water and wonderfully comfortable beds. We were picked up and dropped off at the station. All in all a faultless stay.
The room was large and comfortable. Coupled with an extraordinary view of the Swiss Alps, my wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our visit.
The hotel is very well located with great views. The rooms are spare but very comfortable. The breakfast was great, we enjoyed relaxing in the lounge, and the staff was very accomodating. We loved the cart ride up from the train station! Nothing! This is not a luxury hotel by any means but it's a very solid offering of clean, comfortable rooms, good food, a great location and competitive rates for the area
There are just a few hotel keep opening in October and AK is one of them. As there were not many guests in the hotel, things were kept simple and basic including breakfast.
The view of the Jungfrau was fantastic and the staff were very friendly and nice. Although value for money, the rooms were very basic. The room itself was spacious, yet the bathroom was tiny and not very well lit.
Location - It was within 5mins walk to the Wengen train station. There were 2 minimarts in the area and shops in the area open early at 8am. The heaters didn't seem to work. It didn't bother us as the weather hasn't turned very cold and the beds kept us comfortably warm when we slept
The staff were friendly and helpful. The hotel was right in the main street of Wengen village. The room was in the corner of the building and two of the walls were windows which gave excellent views of the village and the mountains. The lack of a hot breakfast. It was possible to cook boil your own eggs but apart from that it was the typical germanic breakfast of bread, cheese and cold meat. I appreciate it was off season and the hotel and village were very quiet but it would have been nice to have had a hot cooked breakfast.
Breakfast was very good. Staff was friendly and helpful. Rooms were very small.
Great location for access to Jungfrau & Eiger. Village with no cars, train acccess, nice and peaceful. Bernerhof restaurant evening meal was tasty & traditional, as well as being very good value. Restaurant staff very pleasant. Good breakfast too.We stayed in the residence part, which has a lift, and a bigger ensuite. We liked everything.
The place is very quite and clean. The staff name Zoe is very nice and helpful.
Hotel is very clean , view was fantastic from room and value for money when we reached hotel with our luggage we were totally exhausted. It looks very close but while walking steep in hill not easy with luggage.
Beautiful view from balcony of Jungfrau mountain peak with opportunity for lots of exercise No
The room is quite big, and clean. Although it has a quite long histroy, the barthroom has been renovated. The hotel seems lack of staffs, especially around dinner time. The dinner place is not inside the hotel, which is not convience
Very close to Wengen train station but also quiet and cosy
The hotel is run by the family that owns it, and they were absolutely wonderful. They clearly have history in this town, and they enjoy tons of repeat guests who come back year after year. The hotel decor is really lovely and old fashioned. This is a wonderful place to spend time with your family or friends. We did not realize that it is quite a hike up an icy hill (carrying skis, boots, laptop case & suitcase) from the train station. It's not far, but we were definitely huffing and puffing by the time we got there. Had we known this, we would have called the hotel so they could send someone to pick us up.
very nice old Swiss atmosphere
Friendly welcome, amazing views from our balcony, lounges and restaurant spacy, elegantly furnished and delightful 'old-world' charm. Stiff walk up the hill with our bags on arrival.
The best thing about this hotel is that if you get a room on the south side of the hotel you will have a wonderful view of the Jungfrau- weather permitting. This hotel is not just a historical hotel it also looks it's age. The top of the bed was about 15" off the ground and difficult to get out of. There are only twin bed set ups in most of the rooms. The bathroom was incredibly tiny- you almost had to leap over the toilet to get into the shower. On top of all that there is too much furniture in the rooms as we literally had to calculate our moves to get from one spot to another! We live in Europe and have stayed in plenty of hotels and this one was the one of the most uncomfortable.
Great ambience, good family hotel particularly for English-speaking travellers.
