With Christmas just around the corner we decided to conduct some research to reveal the top festive destinations for Hong Kong travellers, and the best dates to depart to avoid the crowds at Hong Kong Airport. For those who have not yet made up their minds, we also unveil the least expensive destinations for a last-minute Christmas getaway.
The lively metropolis of culture-packed Tokyo is the number one destination for Hong Kongers during the festive period, with popular Seoul coming in second, followed by the buzzing city of Bangkok. London and Paris are the only European destinations making it into the top 10, along with the West Coast city of San Francisco, being the only popular US destination in the ranking.
Here at KAYAK, we crunched the numbers to reveal the busiest days to travel during the festive period, with the 23rd until 25th of December being the busiest days at Hong Kong Airport. 43% of all flights searched during the festive period depart on these days. Holidaymakers who want to beat the eager travel crowd should try searching for flights departing after Christmas.
