Booking in advance? – It works

Spontaneity sure is liberating, but most of us don’t have that luxury as it can quickly eat up a holiday budget. Booking in advance does save you money, and for a long summer weekend away in Asia, the optimal time to book for the best prices is 1-3 months ahead, affording you a little bit more spontaneity than you may have thought you had.

What days of the week are best to fly on?

Summer can be an expensive time to fly, but the days you choose to fly on can make a massive difference. Pick one of the top 5 destination points from Hong Kong, fly out on a Friday, and – here comes the good news – stay an extra night! Fly back on the Monday and save up to a whopping 17% on what you’d pay for flights staying somewhere for 2 nights.

Sleep easy with hotel savings

For Hong Kongers treating themselves to a hotel over a long weekend, the news gets even better. As with flights, travellers who stay three nights pay around 9% less on average than those who only stay two nights over a weekend. With HKSAR Establishment Day falling on a Friday this year we think it’s pretty clear what your next move should be!

Data analysis based on searches between 01 Dec 2015 – 15 May 2016 for return flights from HK departing between 1 June 2016 – 31 Aug 2016, and 3/4-star hotels. Prices quoted may change and may no longer be available.
