Cons: Did not like that the rental site did have the catagory of car I had requested and had been confirmed Although the alternative car drove well, it was unnecessarily larger and traveling the distance I did more expensive.

Pros: We found a great price for a car rental from Portland, Maine to Manchester, NH. We also LOVED our Elantra - great gas mileage, and the trunk fit all four of our suitcases.

A lot of hidden fees
Pros: The car itself was fine.
Cons: There were a lot of hidden fees. My rental was supposed to cost $165 for 8 days yet when I returned it two days early it actually cost me $220 and that was after they tried to charge me $340 dollars. I've rented cars several times and always was happy with my experience, this is the first time I felt mislead. This also happens to be the first time I went through Alamo and KAYAK.
Pros: They were very personable and matched my price from another company. The car was exactly what we needed and it was in excellent condition. I had never driven an Infinity before, so that was another plus. They introduced us to the type of people we continued to meet in Maine: very friendly and courteous. Would use them again without question.
Cons: I cannot think of anything that was a problem.

Cons: Agent messed up my rate, so I had to renegotiate after dropoff. Also car reeked of Armorall, now my belongings still have the smell!

Pros: At the Portland jetport in Portland Maine customer service is excellent. Vehicle quality. Upgrades. Reception walked me to my car where it was driven to me and controls were fully explained. I never once have had an issue with Enterprise.
Cons: They pushed hard to sell insurance even though I was fully covered to rent.

Not what I expected from Enterprise
Pros: I reserved a compact SUV (Jeep Renegade or similar) for a week, agreeing to pay a good bit more than I could have for a smaller vehicle. My reservation was made a month in advance, and confirmed 24 hours ahead. When I arrived, no compact SUV's were available, no apology was made, and I was offered an "upgrade" to a full-size SUV or minivan - definitely NOT what I had in mind. I was then offered a VW Jetta for a $50 discount - which still left me paying about $50 more than it would have cost me had I reserved a compact car in advance from any of several other companies - but I was tired, it was late, an dI had no other viable options, so I settled for it. The customer agent tried very hard to get me to pre-purchase my gas - stating that gas stations were charging $0.20 more per gallon (not true - their price was the same.) He also stated that I would be charged only for the amount needed to top off the tank when I returned the car, which was in direct conflict with the sign on the wall behind him saying that I'd be charged for a full tank. I politely declined - twice. He said the care had been "pre-inspected" for damage and asked me to initial the "no damage" field. The garage was too dimly lit to see any damage, but, the next morning in daylight at my hotel, I found (and photographed) numerous scratches and dents. I also discovered that only one of the two key fobs worked. About mid-week through my rental, the "INSPEC" light came on every time I started the car, but when I called about it, I was told not to worry about it. When I returned the vehicle, no-one was around to check me in, but as I was walking away from the car, someone finally appeared, so I walked back just to make sure they didn't charge me for the scratches and dents (they didn't.) Overall, not a very satisfying experience, and certainly not up to the personalized service I've received in the past from Enterprise.
Pros: I liked how close to terminal Hertz is, easy to pick up and drop off. Car was clean.
Cons: The car needed a tune up. Tried to exchange it twice but other locations were very remote and didnt have cars to give to me

Pick up location was closed after pick up time
Cons: They never should have allowed the reservation to be made. I requested a 6pm pick-up time and the location closes at 6pm! I had to get a car at another location and go through the hassel of getting a refund on the first car. Not fun!

Pros: Car was fine. No problems.
Cons: I was charged above the quoted price that was on my confirmation. The rep told me that this was airport taxes. Apparently, the booking was made for an off-site location rather than the airport, even though I was flying into the airport. I would not get a rental from this site again because of that. They should honor the quoted price.

Jeep Pioneer Needed Maintenance
Cons: We rented a Jeep Pioneer that had a loud squeak and grinding noise in its rear suspension. Clearly the vehicle needed maintenance.

Experience thus far . . .
Pros: Drop off was very easy and attendant was efficient and friendly.
Cons: Pick up took way too long. Close to 1/2 hour!! Needed assistance from a 2 attendant before we could move things along. Second attendant was courteous but not necessarily friendly.
EZ pass option is great idea but it would be helpful to know what if any charges other then tolls are associated with its use.

Pros: The car was great but they would not let my spouse drive for free. I asked several questions about this and they told me that wasn't available in Maine. The next day we realized it was a benefit of our AAA insurance and called to have him added as a driver. The agent told us we could not do tha without opening our contract, which would mean we would need to pay the current price for the car rental. Not good customer service, especially when the contract stated we had AAA insurance.

Good human customer service, bad robots
Pros: The people I dealt with in Portland and Philadelphia were very nice and professional and helpful. Got done what I needed done efficiently and without big issues.
Cons: The customer service hotline over the phone was a terrible 1984 / Brazil - esque "voice-mail hell" scenario. I was put into a Robot Loop of Uselessness that I could not escape from.

Always Quick and Courteous
Pros: I always prefer to use Hertz because they aren't aggressive with trying to upsell and the pickup process is quick and painless. Also, at the destination airport, one of their employees gave us curbside service to the airport after drop-off since we had a toddler and car seat with us.
Cons: There's nothing about my rental experience that was unpleasant.

Pros: Had problems. Agent not very friendly. Couldn't give us directions. Gave us a little compact car instead of intermediate. We spent extra time complaining but then they exchanged car.
Cons: Car we finally got was right size which we should have been given to begin with.
Cons: Car was filthy, seats stained, gravel on floor, outside hadn't been washed.

Pros: Car was nice for our trip. Did almost 1000 miles on car and no issues with it mechanically. Gas mileage was great.\
Agent on turnin took my word for low fuel in car, not full tank as paperwork showed.
Cons: The agent did not explain the toll road guizmo behind the rear view mirror. Paid first time cash as didn't know had a ez pass, like fast pass in California.
Gas mileage was not correct on form when picked up car.

Experience renting from the lowest price bracket
Pros: Affordable, flexible, and available when I needed it. If I needed a car for a couple days, I'd do exactly the same thing again.
Cons: I have no big complaints, returning the car was slightly confusing but not really an issue.

Pros: First, the vehicle - a Kia Sportage AWD, super-nice that, somehow, ended up with 440 miles in a 4-day visit, 10.9 gallons to fill? ECO mode is something else on this. I thought I'd hired a compact, but, that was the special, at the price quoted on KAYAK for the compact, so I was pretty delighted by that. Actually a bit stupefied for a moment when he stated it was the same price; I had to ask the agent to clarify, and, still in disbelief, asked what the upgrade fee was yet a third time. I think it pleased him a little to smile so broadly and hand over the keys.
We made several short trips around the Portland area and down to NH, just a great ride, handled well enough on the swoopy back roads between Sebago and Exeter, and the great visibility was a joy while we enjoyed the sights along the way.
Check-in was well-designed, perhaps the best I've ever seen. Greenville/Spartanburg (S.C., if you didn't know) has a similar setup and I'd thought it clever there. Under a 5-minute walk from baggage claim to the rental service counter. After a brief wait, like 15 minutes, we were getting checked in and shortly, off on our trip! We arrived about noon, and the queue was not terrible at all. I did not know that Hertz and Dollar were a joint outfit, so, you might go a while between "Dollar" signs, but Hertz had signs up every ten yards or so, follow the yellow brick road, it works out. Likewise, navigating the parking garage to your hire.
Cons: Well, no wait would be better I suppose, not that I'm complaining, 'cause I'm not.
The parking garage is awfully dark, don't you think?
That's about it, I really couldn't be happier
