The lobby was quaint and kept very clean. We really liked the coffee it was delicious! The maintenance man was very friendly and always said hi to us and greeted my kids. The upkeep of the resort was impecable. Very friendly staff. Private beach. Didn't like that there was a main st. dividing the resort to get to lobby. Didn't like not knowing you had to leave a $100 deposit for "incidentals". Didn't like the dark spots on the roof of the shower / ceiling.
Room with fireplace! Very rustic, but in a good way. I'll definitely return. Only enough hot water for one shower, but the spa made up for that.
The room need to be more clean
Close to town. Location Bit dated, flat pillows.
Great location. Super close to the lake and the village. Super friendly front desk guy!
Loved the privacy and proximity. Off season is great, I'm sure peak ski season is completely different.
I liked the proximity to the local bars/resturants. I went in the summer time and they didn't have any air conditioning
Free wifi. Room layout was weird.
The price was very affordable. Shower was very nice and the fact that it was off of Pine Knot so you didn't have to drive to go to the shops or eat. The bedding was very old and "stale" feeling. Bed was also itchy.(no bed bugs though!) there were ants in the bathroom crawling around the sink.
Great location, clean accommodations. Bed was uncomfortable.
Very friendly staff, great location. Older, refurbished rooms were very well appointed and clean. Would definately stay again. No place to hang clothes in room #69.
Loved this place!! The only bad thing was the bed in our room was hard as a rock. But we still loved the room!
great location room was like a dungeon with ugly orange-ish lighting, bed was like a rock, lots of ants
Locale is great Rooms are worn but cleanish Nottinghams restaurant has good happy hour bartenders rock there! One of my fav places in big bear when prices are cheap
Great location, accessible to everything. The rooms were big enough, and spacious to walk through..located in a central location close to food places, bars, etc. They also gave is a.discount coupon for eating in the restaurant close to the place
Peaceful, quiet, friendly staff. Good location, view of lake! Close to all restaurants.
down to earth
The staff was friendly and the rooms were very clean. The ice machine was in the office and it closed at night. No fridge so bring a cooler.
Close to village and lake, plush clean carpet, big bathroom and closet space, flat screen tv, fireplace, wide open space right across the parking lot where we were able to play in the snow. Loved it! Will definitely return and recommend! No microwave or fridge :( pillows a little uncomfortable. even though we were one of maybe 4 occupied rooms and we were leaving on a Tuesday, they still called at 11 to remind us of check out. It's not actually a negative I guess - they were nice about it and 11 IS the listed check out time but I will always give bonus points to a place that gives free late check out!
Staff seemed to be unfriendly.
Quiet and they allow dogs. A little shabby. Old TV.
The room was very cozy and neat. The location was really close to the village. It would be nice if they had a mini fridge with complimentary water. The tv was small
We had two of the cottages, one for me and my husband and one for my son. Each iw equipped with a beautiful rock spa tub and fireplace. #14 was bigger, and #7 was smaller but really made you feel like you're in a cottage out in the enchanted forest. It would'nt have been surprising to see one of the Seven Dwarfs show up. There is a kitchenette area in each room. I would recommend these cottages to couples. We didn't think our bed was not super comfy, however our son thought his was fine.
Absolutely perfect for a get away. Quaint cottage, fireplace, cute front porch, and so close to all the shopping and restaurants. Will definitely be going back. Can't think of one thing that I would change !
I loved the whirlpool bath, courteous staff, location was great. Poor internet. Bad area for cell service (not their fault)
Very close to Bear Mountain. Lovely holiday decorations in the lobby. Big, comfy bed. Check in at 4pm. Whole place has old lady, perfume scent. Shower didnt drain properly. Dining area too crowded and understaffed. Very likely you won't get any breakfast.
Clean room. And breakfast service. None
The rooms are compfy, staff at breakfast very friendly, breakfast included Women at frontdesk are not very friendly or welcoming. The hotel in the inside looks aweful, gody, outdated, okd fashioned, almost creepy with big chinese vases and tons of tacky chandaliers, horrible paint job......frightening
Location, room decor, view and breakfast. Fireplace did not work and TV had connectivity issues.
I vacation Big Bear approximately 10 times a year and Best Western had somewhat decent price at the time. PLEASE, don't let that fool you. Nothing good about this place. For the most part it looked as if housekeeping is doing their job. When I checked in they couldn't find my reservation which was fine. After 30 min they finally locate it under a different name which was odd. Management (lady with an accent) at the front desk was very unfriendly and told me that NOT maybe but " I made a reservation elsewhere " they put us in a room where the fire place wasn't working and the wall boarders was basically coming off the wall which was a hazard for my toddler. The heater is controlled by hotel, basically a switch you have to shut on and off very often. At check out they told me there was a charge which I shouldnt have had any, AGAIN I was a different person in there books, very odd. I waited about 30 min before they figured it out. Much better hotels out there. Trust me! Spend that extra $5-$10.
It's convenient located, it has a nice arquitecture. The breakfast is complete and the persons very warm. the shower and the water temperature. too much escalators, ceiling too low, with central heating, you can't control the temperature. I have two rooms (one on the Jacuzzi level is cold and one on the second floor is too hot).
Staff was nice, the rooms were spacious and clean. Also the rooms were very quiet and it was easy to fall asleep. The room had a gas fireplace which was a nice surprise. The included morning breakfast was good, great selection and the service was good. The only negative was the bed was very very firm bordering on hard
There was someone in the room they gave us. The food wasn't very good.
We loved everything about Timber Haven! Hotel Employee was so warm, welcoming and accommodating! Cabin 7 was perfect for our family of 6 and we loved the outdoor eating area, play structure and the paddle ball. Breakfast was perfect--nice to take back to If we have to say something, we wished there were screens on a few windows so we could cool down the cabin without adding some friendly bugs but that is so minor :)
The lodge was a perfect retreat for us this past weekend. It was quiet and cozy, and and the owner was delightful. I really couldn't ask for more, and we will definitely be back soon.
The owner was very nice and very accomdating. Nothing
The jaccuzzi tub was great. The room was well decorated and cozy The staff was very friendly and accommodating. Its a short walk to the Village. Even though our cabin was one of the back units you can hear the traffic noise
I like The separate cabins they were small but very cozy and comfortable everything was pretty clean staff was real nice. The bed was uncomfortable and the shower head had too much pressure.
Cozy. Near attractions of Big Bear Lake. In a quiet area. Very old school rooms. Everything small in the room. (Tv, heater, bathroom, and etc.
Staff has bad attitude. They don't clean the guests room until your stay is over. You have to pick up anything you need from the office, they will not bring it to your room. Towels and sheets are too used and in bad condition. Charged us extra for the kids. Too much noise. No good ventilation in the rooms. Accused us of taking some of their towels and said they will charge us for their beat up towels.wont stay here again
Friendly staff, this place is good if you are going to use it to spend the night only, The bed was comfortable. Location excellent, good price for what you receive,
Location good for the village. It needs an upgrade and paint. Bed and bathroom were clean but everything else felt and looked dirty. No screens on the windows, broken lampshades, dirt and inch thick on ceiling fan, table in room ready to fall over. Broken toilet seat, and when we complained they sent someone over to tighten it they did not repair it.
It was in the middle of the city, near the lake. Made travel easy. We encountered a ton of ants all over the room and in the beds. They moved us to another room and there were a ton of ants in there too. The walls were thin so we received midnight entertainment from the couple next door. There was a random bandaid on the wall that the cleaners neglected. The curtain rod was broken, so we couldn't completely close the curtain. The pool was filled with dirt. Did I mention the ants? Otherwise, it was great.
N/A Really old, outdated, run down, poor bedding, 4 channels on the TV, dirt coming up through the shower drain, flat pillows
Nothing 1. The place is completely run down 2. The place is filthy dirty 3. No air conditioner 4. Ceeling fan broken 5. Noisy floor fan 6. Filthy bathroom 7. Trash bins and trash strewn about at the entrance 8. The hallway Smelled like urine 9. There was no evidence that the management puts any effort into maintaining the property
The room was clean and the staff was accessible. There were a few significant things that made our stay uncomfortable enough for us to never come back! The bathroom light did not work. The bathroom sink filled up with a funky substance when the people next to us ran their sink. By the morning it had over flowed.
Nothing It was a disgrace. The worst hotel I have ever seen.
Toilet flushed well. Coffee in office was good Room and property was poorly maintained. Would not rate a AAA 1 star.
The location was good The rooms were absolutely mess - no amenities, no staff close by. The hotel seriously needs a mekover - the floors are creaky, rooms are run down, if you have a noisy upstair tenant you entire night is screwed apart from the filthy, torn bed in which you are sleeping unwillingly.
Nothing We left early didn't stay longer than a few hours
Day Front desk person was nice. Maintenance guy at night was also nice. Night time front desk person was rude. Liked: refrigerator, microwave and kitchen wares provided. No AC in any of the rooms. Not good in the summer time. We're instructed to leave the windows open and it should cool later. There's no screen in the bedroom window, so left that one closed, but left the others open during the day while out. Came back at night and the room was hot. Maintenance searched vacant rooms and finally found a window screen; later found a fan. Evening Staff was a bit rude when asked for a fan. Said he already put a fan in my room yesterday. Problem was I didn't stay there the previous day. Disappointed with this place since it's a Wyndham property. I expected just a bit more.
location no cold water, only hot.
Private Cabin with lot's of room. Showing age. Could use some fresh furnishings. Mattresses are becoming 'wavy' with low spots.
The quaint feel of the cabin, location, etc Horribly small bathroom. Ceiling too low. Not cozy cute, rather it was almost unfunctional for anyone over 6 feet.
Very romantic, cozy and comfortable room. Will go there again!
We enjoyed our stay here at the cozy lodge it was beautiful to have the snow fall while we were staying there. The room was nice and cozy for us and felt very relaxing. The room was big enough for the two of us.
We loved how close this cabin was to the village, literally, right around a bend! The room had a lot of character and was definitely cozy once you got the furnace and fire place going. The kitchenette was a MUST, we saved trips, money and time from bringing our own groceries. We selected the cabin with the Jacuzzi tub, which was relaxing. The room was a bit dark, hard to look for things you may have dropped around the room. There was a lot of "signs/rules" explaining what is required of the guests, including cleaning your own silverware or a cleaning fee will be charged. A daily cleaning of your room from housekeeping was not provided, nor were the towels changed- unless requested. When checking out, make sure to have your cabin cleaned.
This cabin was cute & cozey, it had all the amenities you could think of, the hostess at the front desk was so polite & informative,it was a perfect getaway for the wife & I, I will definitely be coming back again Can't complain, this place was perfect
Previous reviews are exactly as billed. It's not the Hilton but it was exceptionally clean, well furnished, bed was a 10 out of 10 for comfort. Service was exceptional. Cute 1940's cabin room with a real cozy feel Exactly as expected
Had everything we needed and was very clean. The Heater was loud but we were informed before hand so the second night we used an rhetoric blanket.
How clean the cabin was. Very small for the price.
/Super clean and every detail has been thought of. No
The little cabins are perfect for couples and families. There's a playground on the property. The interior of the cabin is cute and cozy just like the photos online. The y provide in cabin amenities (eg toothpaste, make-up wipes, balance bars, you name it!) The pool is out of service and looked like a septic tank had broken.
The hotel is located in Big Bear, one the most relaxing areas of southern California.
Friendly, awesome people. The room felt like home! Everything was great!
We'd describe it as high end hostel in a convenient location. The evening fire & hot breakfast & dinner were nice options, The staff couldn't have been friendlier. A good value. Don't expect luxury accommodations for such a low price & you won't be disappointed. We always spend our time outdoors & only require a comfortable bed & hot shower. The hot meals, big fireplace & congenial conversation were pluses to otherwise spartan rooms.
place was nice relaxing and clean! had all the cooking utensils I needed, big extra!! place is outside of downtown but not too far so it felt like I was in the woods. lots of trees. bakery, brewery, Mexican food, small grocery store and hiking trail, all walking distance. staff was super nice.
Excellent lodging with thoughtful details everywhere. We stayed in cabin 5. Had everything we needed, wood burning fire, comfy bed, well stocked kitchen, privacy, BBQ, great staff, tv, DVD, movies, patios., parking, close to all. Shower needed bit of updating but that was it. Get a cabin if you can afford to do so, privacy was really nice! Shower could use a little update.
The place was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpfull. The queen bed was more like a full.
We loved the little small touches the make the big difference like the bow on the tissue you box. The wooden finish The cute wall paper that finishes the room perfectly The friendly management
very close to Bear Mountain and Snow Summit. Affordable, given the area and time of year.
I know this is a budget hotel but the beds were extremely dirty with HAIR everywhere. Same goes for the bathroom. I stayed at similar hotels before but never had a room this dirty. Cannot recommend this place.
During our stay I would say the customer service was really good, and the overall location of the hotel was great!!!!! Old tv with no DVD player.
Convenient location. Easy to get to and close to stores. Pretty clean room but it smelled like cigarettes and shower could' have been cleaned better.
It is cheap and has the necessary things to stay confortable.
All that we liked about this place was the location and staff. Near some snow grounds, near some markets and shopping, and relatively close to the main village walk. We had movie channels which was nice when getting ready. Okay for one night as we did, just passing through. The staff was nice and helpful and check out time was great at noon, with no extra charge. The room itself was bad, it was nonsmoking but reeked of cigarettes, it was stuffy and smelled weird in the restroom. The room was bare and poorly kept. The bed was more like a stiff couch with a couple of thin blankets. No a/c or heat which made it very cold, wish we had an extra blanket. You can hear EVERYONE else in the building.
I only stayed for one night as I was in Big Bear visiting friends. However, I have stayed at other Motel 6 before and enjoy them as I really only need a clean, comfortable, nicely priced place to clean up and sleep. This stay was quite pleasant and the desk staff were friendly and efficient. Will be using this chain again!
LOCATION WAS GREAT PEOPLE WERE INCONSIDERATE OF OTHER GUEST. WALKING PAST OUR ROOM AT ALL HOURS OF THE NIGHT AND MORNING BEING REALLY LOUD AND RUDE
Clean, quiet and affordable.
The lady at the front desk was so accommodating and understanding when we requested a refund for the night because we decided to head down the mountain instead. She gave us a full refund and gave us no trouble for the last minute change!
I want to say Thank you for being Pet Friendly.....So many travelers have pets these days.....our pets are like family to us, when we go on vacation they go on vacation with us. So thank you for making that possible.
It is clean and Good.. One thing could have been there is refrigerator in the room..
Simple and cute. Lady at front desk was helpful and sweet. I went with my daughter (14) and her friend. It was perfect for a quick one night stay which we did some hiking ( castle rock) , nice dinner at The Pines, sledding the next morning followed by walking around the village which was my favorite! Was a little off the beaten path unless u want to be close to bear mountain.
The hotel was beautiful and very clean. Our room was at Forest Shores next door. We enjoyed the kitchenette that was full of dishes and silverware to use. The rest of the room was very cozy and intimate. The blankets were soft and very thick for the colder nights. We had a lake facing room in the Forest Shores portion but we were a little confused on how to get in, only to realize that the sliding glass door was the only entrance. The room was described as having a jacuzzi/shower combo but was disappointed that it was no bigger than a standard shower tub.
Location was great. Lakeside view was superb Jacussi was not working. Room was small
Good location. Eventually got a semi-decent room. First room we were given was absolutely disgusting. No molding between carpets and wall. Filthy floor. Walls looked dirty. The excuse was that it "hadn't been renovated yet". It was a disaster. They moved us to another room downstairs which was better (not great), but we had to settle for two queen beds instead of the one king we booked. Staff lacks a customer service orientation. Not rude, but not friendly either. They gave the horrible room to someone else straight away. We will probably not return, even though the location is very good.
live the location to the lake , room was clean and close to bear valley village. I didn't like being woken up early on my birthday because of construction
The view and the coziness, loved the fire place. The bathroom was too small and there was no microwave.
Don't ever take room 214...next to linen room...wake up call at 5am and so much noise you can't go back to sleep.
The finishing touches were excellent. Excellent remodeled bathroom. Room was comfortable. No WiFi
Location and view No restaurant/ bar or laundry
Easy to find. Volleyball net available. Patio furniture included. Furniture bulky. Felt cramped although there was enough room. Old fashioned heater. Volleyballs all needed air. Jacuzzi was dirty.
Pro: Perfect location, great views, fun sledding right on-site, comfortable beds, nice gas fire place, mini fridge. Con: Holes in wall, interior/finish show age, ripped towels, jacuzzi needed cleaning (a ton of sand/dirt), shower was like 4" off the tub...
Room was very clean. Nice modern decor. Great location, close to the slopes and village area. Dave was great. Will definitely stay there again next time I go to Big Bear.
It was a very nice, private room that was close enough to most everything it's within walking distance. The man who came to check us in was very nice, seemed willing to make most anything happen to make us more comfortable. Definitely recommend you bring your own pillow and possibly top sheet. The beds are "European style" meaning there's two smaller, rectangular comforters and no top sheet. Not bad, just a recommendation. One thing they don't tell you on here is you have to wait for the guy to show up at the location since there's no front desk on-site. But it was very easy to coordinate. Just plan to be there around the exact check-in time, or a little later.
