What to know about COVID-19 and airlines

 

As you consider current and future travel plans, stay up-to-date on travel restrictions and travel providers’ change and cancellation policies. Besides new filters and alerts on our site, here’s a list of partners that are currently offering flexible policies.

Airlines with flexible change policies

For all new or existing bookings made through December 31, 2020 for original travel between March 1, 2020 and December 31, 2021, you can:
1. Make a one-time change without a fee.
2. Convert your ticket to an Air Canada Travel Voucher.

1. All bookings booked by August 31, 2020, you can make changes without fees.
2. For re-booking, you can change your origin and destination cities, but you may owe any difference in the ticket price.
3. Please refer to American Airlines’ website for details.

Tickets which are booked after 3 March 2020, and due to travel between now and 31 August 2021:
1. You can change the dates and destination of your booking without incurring a change fee, but you will need to pay any difference in price.
2. You can cancel your booking and get a voucher to the same value for a future booking.

All new tickets issued up to 31 December 2021, can enjoy unlimited changes for one year for free. Please refer to Cathay Pacific’s website for details.

Unlimited changes and no change fees for tickets booked on the official website between 16 March and 23 November 2020 (departing on or before 30 June 2021), and tickets booked after 24 November 2020 (departing within one year after the date of ticket issuance). Please refer to Hongkong Airlines’ website for details.

1. Tickets booked before 15 May 2020 can be converted into a Flight Value VoucherIf whether your flight has been cancelled or you would like to change your travel dates.
2. For tickets booked after 16 May 2020: If your flight has been cancelled, you can rebook free of charge to an alternative flight to the same destination and within the same travel class (latest start of travel is 31 December 2021). If your flight is not cancelled, you can rebook your flight before 31 August 2020 free of charge (latest start of travel is 31 December 2021).
3. For tickets booked before 15 May 2020: If your flight has been cancelled, you can rebook free of charge to an alternative flight to the same destination and within the same travel class (latest start of travel is 31 December 2021). If your flight is not cancelled, you can rebook your flight once free of charge (latest start of travel is 31 December 2021).

Tickets booked on or before 30 April 2021 have these flexible options for travellers to choose from:
1. For travel until 31 December 2021, you can make unlimited changes for free.
2. Exchange for a future travel voucher with 10% additional value.
3. Request a refund if your flight gets cancelled.
4. Extended ticket validity, your ticket will be valid for 2 years from the date of ticket issuance.

1. For tickets scheduled to depart between 24 January and 31 March 2021 and issued on or before 15 March 2020, you can retain the unused value of your ticket as flight credits, or request for a refund with the cancellation fees waived.
2. For tickets scheduled to depart on or before 31 March 2020 and issued after 15 March 2020, you may make unlimited changes to your travel dates before 28 Feb 2021 with all change fees waived. After 28 Feb 2021, you may enjoy a complimentary one-time change to your travel dates.
3. For tickets scheduled to depart on or after 31 March 2020 and issued between 5 March 2020 and 28 Feb 2021, you may make unlimited changes to your travel dates before 28 Feb 2021 with all change fees waived. After 28 Feb 2021, you may enjoy a complimentary one-time change to your travel dates.
